GGuest UserHad a great stay at Xinjia Yaoshan Homestay. The owner was very friendly and hospitable. I felt warm and comfortable during my stay. The room is clean and has all the basic amenities needed. Location wise, it is near caicun wharf with good food nearby, and a small night market just 5 minutes walk away. Didi to Dali ancient city is about 12 yuan.
When I had trouble arranging transport to my next destination (Shaxi), the owner also helped to arrange safe and reliable carpooling with a driver/company he has worked with for years. I didn’t have to worry about anything, which made my stay at Dali relaxing and stress-free. Recommended! 👍🏻

The ceiling height in our room was good (we'd seen comments about low ceilings elsewhere), and while compact, it never felt cramped – it was very comfortable.
Service:
The staff member we communicated with was consistently gentle, responsive, and wonderfully patient and thoughtful.
We stayed in a double suite, and each person received a daily afternoon tea. For coffee, the standard was two cups plus small cookies. However, if you chose the pour-over option, it came in a small pot for one person, and it was excellent.
Cleanliness:
The room was cleaned daily, always spotless and hygienic.
Facilities:
The room came with complimentary purified water (please don't waste it), disposable dental kits, body wash, shampoo, conditioner, disposable slippers, and toilet seat covers. A hairdryer was also provided and worked great (personally tested!).
The bathroom, though, had two minor downsides: first, the toilet faced the mirror, which felt a little awkward; second, there was no door or partition separating it from the main room, so turning on the light at night could easily disturb sleep.

GGuest UserBecause I wanted to live closer to the Bohai Sea, I chose to live in a homestay. The first time I stayed at a homestay, the room was great. I originally planned to change the experience on the first day. I didn’t expect it to be amazing. The price is very high. I went to the Bohai Sea in a few meters. You can watch the sunrise at the door in the morning. Don't worry about the inconvenience of eating and drinking in the village. Follow the Bohai Sea to Caicun Wharf. There are everything. There are many food stalls at night, so I have been staying until I leave Dali. The boss is very good, help with luggage, tell us the precautions, and also sent fresh local flower cakes, I feel very lucky, the first time I did not step on the pit, strong! highly recommended!

GGuest UserThis hostel is located about 10 to 15 minutes walk from Dali Ancient City, but still offers convenient access to amenities. The surrounding area has plenty of local restaurants, bike rental shops and a nearby market. With a police station next door, safety is not a concern.
I stayed in a dormitory room with an ensuite bathroom. The hostel staff and cleaners generally maintain the space well. However, cleanliness can quickly compromised due to inconsiderate guests. That said, I observed that the team consistently cleaned the facilities at regular intervals, so the issue wasn’t due to a lack of effort from the management.
One highlight is the rooftop washing machine with complimentary detergent, which is such an excellent convenience for travelers.
The front desk staff were helpful and approachable. They offered practical travel advice, such as recommendations for electric bike rentals and guidance on typical market prices. I found this especially useful for planning my days around Dali.
The beds are comfortable and each comes with an individual locker and curtain, which gives me the personal space and security.
The hostel also encourages a warm communal atmosphere. I appreciated the small gatherings in the lobby, such as casual singing sessions. There is also a WeChat group for guests to join occasional outings.
Overall, I had a pleasant and enjoyable stay. It’s a solid choice for travelers looking for a clean, friendly and sociable hostel experience in Dali.

GGuest UserThe hotel is very new, and the service was excellent. It's a great choice for a quick overnight stay, especially if you're catching a high-speed train. For just over 100 RMB, the amenities rival those of hotels costing 200-300 RMB. I was particularly impressed by the hairdryer – it's incredibly powerful, and I'm definitely buying one for myself when I get home!

GGuest UserA lovely quiet place to stay in Dali, recently renovated and very clean. It’s about a 20 minute walk to the Three Pagodas, and is away from the hustle of the ancient city. It’s surrounded by local life and beautiful traditional houses. Great view of the sunset over the mountains from the room. It’s a 10 minute walk down the hill to a bus stop, or otherwise you can order a taxi to get around. Host was very accommodating to me arriving late and extending my stay, and there’s a lovely grandma who stays in the front part of the house who is always willing to help. Would highly recommend to travellers wanting a quiet stay in Dali!

DDavid AventThere was a Clean Pedestal toilet available. The room was non smoking, however the owner chain smoked in the small courtyard area just outside and the smoke would drift into the dormitory. As there was no other air circulation the door had to be open. The mattress was almost non-existent, it was the thinnest mattress i have yet encountered in my travels. The kitchen was a disgusting mess, as was the small common area. The staff were nice. No english was spoken. Plenty of restaurants close by. Ok for one night
