4-Star Hotels in Dali City

This is my review for this hotel, and while I've stayed in many hotels across the country, some of which I really liked and had excellent service, this particular hotel stands out. From the moment I encountered the front desk staff, both the guys and the ladies, I just loved it. The location is on the east coast, quiet and comfortable. The airport pick-up and drop-off service was fantastic; the car was large and very comfortable, and both drivers were incredibly nice. It was so convenient – as soon as we got out of the car, a front desk guy rushed over to help with our luggage, carrying our two large suitcases straight up to our second-floor room. He was very enthusiastic and thoughtful. Since we arrived around 10 AM, we couldn't check in immediately. A lady at the front desk prepared a fruit platter and poured us lemon water, which was a very warm gesture. We then went to Haiqinwan Shopping Mall in the city for lunch and a bit of shopping, which is very close and convenient. If you're looking to stay near Erhai Lake, this place is perfect, and the mall has everything. After checking in, our room had two large beds, which was ideal for our family of four – we were very comfortable. The minibar and mineral water were free, and there was a delicious and beautifully presented afternoon tea set with cake, nuts, and drinks. The room was also very spacious. I especially want to commend the smart toilet; its sensor was responsive and very convenient. The bathtub on the balcony was a hit with the kids, who enjoyed a very relaxing bath. In the evening, there were desserts and late-night snacks to try. The breakfast was plentiful, with a wide selection of main courses and drinks. Although breakfast typically ends at 10 AM, because we have children and tend to wake up later, we mentioned this to the front desk lady. She made sure breakfast was kept available until 10:30 AM or even almost 11 AM each time, which was incredibly thoughtful. The hotel is great for photos, and Erhai Lake is just across the road, offering stunning sunsets. The most important thing for me is that I hate it when people try to bribe me for good reviews or constantly ask for them; the more they do that, the less likely I am to comment. This hotel, however, was perfect throughout – any request we had was handled flawlessly, but they never pushed for reviews. It was quietly comfortable. Last year, I stayed at the Marriott in Yalong Bay, Sanya, and while my initial experience was good, they messaged me afterward asking for a good review, which instantly put me off, and I won't choose them again. This is the first time I've genuinely reviewed a hotel positively, and I hope it helps everyone.

Choosing Yunying Chunxiao·Shuiyuan is truly a love-filled experience. The hotel is right on the shore of Erhai Lake, offering stunning views of the sea right from your window. Enjoying the sunset in the evening and falling asleep to the sound of the waves at night is incredibly therapeutic. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, with a simple yet sophisticated décor and complete with smart devices, making the stay super convenient. Our butler, Ms. Su, was incredibly attentive and helpful, assisting with itinerary planning and recommending off-the-beaten-path attractions. From breakfast and evening sweet soup, the attention to detail was impeccable. The complimentary travel photography experience was also excellent; the photographer was very professional, taking photos in the public areas that turned out beautifully, and the rooftop camera position for panoramic views of Erhai Lake was absolutely stunning. If you want to experience a truly slow-paced life in Shuanglang, this is the place to go. Highly recommended!

Full marks, full marks! We chose this place after seeing Xiao Jian's recommendation. The butler contacted us in advance to confirm the number of guests and helped us combine two beds. Upon arrival, we were treated to a delightful afternoon tea (fruits, pastries, nuts) and a late-night snack (red date and white fungus soup). Sitting on the seaside balcony was incredibly relaxing, and our two children couldn't stop exclaiming, 'This place is so beautiful!' The hotel also offered a complimentary 3-photo photoshoot, and that's when we discovered the incredible beauty of not only the sea view and swing in the first-floor restaurant but also the stunning glass room with a white bed on the third floor and the glass walkway on the rooftop. The decor is simply unbeatable. Beyond the fantastic aesthetics, the food was also outstanding. All four of us practically licked the plates clean with the sauce from the yellow curry shrimp, using it to mix with our rice. Luggage service was provided for both check-in and check-out, and a parking spot in a nearby lot was reserved for us in advance. The only minor inconvenience for us as a family with children: the bathroom and toilet in the room only had a glass and sheer curtain partition. It was a bit awkward when adults were showering, as we had to distract the kids with an iPad cartoon.

So glad I picked the right place for my first trip to Dali with my little one! The environment is great, the location is perfect, and right downstairs is the Erhai Ecological Corridor. The ground floor is their open-to-public cafe, and as a guest, you get unlimited coffee – anything on the menu is fair game, which is a dream come true for coffee lovers! 🤩 The feeling of lying in bed and looking out at Erhai Lake is truly unique! My child had so much fun too! You wouldn't get bored staying in the room all day, but unfortunately, downstairs is just too exciting, with live singers and a huge lawn where my child absolutely went wild, hahahaha!

We really enjoyed our stay here and wish we'd booked more nights here rather than near the Dali old town, it's location is great, the room is really comfortable and the staff are always helpful. The hotel appears to be newly built and a bit rustic upon the first look but is actually a hidden gem. The amenities in the room are great, we especially enjoyed the water pressure. Hotel guests can get vouchers to use the full sized gym on the second floor, which is much better equipped than hotel gyms and super convenient. We would definitely return to stay here next time we're in Dali.

I stayed here for 3 nights, and it truly felt like a home away from home. On the first day, I took a taxi from Dali High-Speed Railway Station. After getting out, I looked around but still couldn't find the guesthouse. Left with no other choice, I called the guesthouse's front desk, and a female staff member answered. I asked her for directions and how to get there. Before I could finish, she appeared behind me. It turned out I was right at the entrance of the guesthouse's alley, but the sign wasn't very noticeable. Without a word, she helped us with our luggage, which I felt bad about but was also very touched by. Afterward, she helped us check in and then meticulously explained all the facilities and important notes. The entire guesthouse's environment and design are absolutely beautiful, perfectly matching the pictures on the platform. The amenities in the room completely exceeded my expectations. It felt like they had brought everything from home here; almost anything you could want was provided. The pillows came in both soft and firm options, which completely solved any sleep issues. What impressed me the most was how truly slip-resistant the bathroom floor was. As for the staff, they are a group of energetic young people who provided excellent service. Regarding breakfast, although the choices weren't extensive, everything was prepared with care and provided a perfectly hearty meal to start the day. Finally, a small suggestion: there's a small step at the room entrance. I recommend putting up a 'caution: step' sign or some other small reminder to prevent guests from tripping and falling. I brought my mom to Dali for a trip and stumbled upon this hotel, Yunye Hotel, and it was such a pleasant surprise! The location is super convenient, not far from the ancient city, yet the environment is incredibly peaceful, like a little paradise with lush greenery all around. My mom couldn't stop raving about the room and the service – the bedding was comfortable, and the housekeeper was very attentive. She loved the rice noodles for breakfast and the afternoon tea, and there was even a sweet soup offered at night. Overall, it exceeded our expectations! We'll definitely be back next time and I've already recommended it to my friends.

🌲 Dali Cangshan Oxygen Retreat | Living in This Forest, I Kicked My Phone Addiction🍃 Seriously, I'm so grateful! The biggest surprise of my Dali trip wasn't the ancient city or Erhai Lake, but this forest B&B nestled halfway up Cangshan Mountain 🌿. As we drove up from the city, the urban hustle and bustle slowly faded, replaced by lush greenery and the sound of pine trees swaying in the wind. 🌄 **The Rooftop is Pure Soul:** I was absolutely stunned the moment I stepped onto the rooftop – the nineteen peaks of Cangshan Mountain stood behind me like a majestic screen, with the entire Erhai Lake and scattered Bai ethnic villages stretching out below. The Three Pagodas of Chongsheng Temple were faintly visible. In the morning, drawing back the curtains revealed a sea of rolling clouds. In the evening, I'd sit on the swing chair on the terrace, watching the sunset paint Erhai Lake a honeyed gold 🍯. At night, a glance upwards showed the Milky Way so clearly it brought tears to my eyes ✨. 🌿 **Immersive Mountain Living:** Hydrangeas were in full bloom in the courtyard, and dappled sunlight filtered through the treetops onto the wooden floors. The natural wood-toned room had floor-to-ceiling windows on three sides, making it feel like sleeping right in the forest 🌲. There were also three resident cats, each with their own unique personality, taking turns on patrol. I specifically chose this hotel because it's very close to Dali Station. I often stay at Hilton's budget brands for transit, and while the price here wasn't low, and the hardware was relatively new, the overall experience was truly disappointing. I booked a garden view room, expecting to see a courtyard, but opening the window revealed a direct view of an urban village, with a parking lot right below. It felt nothing like a 'garden' at all. The breakfast, in particular, was a huge letdown. The self-service area was just a tiny mini-island with salad, fruit, yogurt, egg tarts, and sliced bread – a pitifully small selection. There were hardly any Western pastries, not even a simple croissant. Besides that, there was only a noodle station with 'crossing the bridge' rice noodles, and what looked like overnight fried rice and noodles. The quality was even worse than a 30-yuan hot spring hotel breakfast. What you see in the picture is pretty much all there was to eat. After reading other reviews that mentioned a pool, beach, and children's water toys, I seriously wonder if I went to the wrong hotel. On the positive side: the self-service laundry area was excellent, clean, and comfortable. Also, there's a wide variety of takeout options around the hotel, making ordering food very convenient. These two points are a big plus for business travelers and those staying overnight in transit. While the location, laundry facilities, and takeout options are suitable for a layover, considering the price, the discrepancy in views and breakfast offerings is significant. I'd advise lowering your expectations before checking in.

This was easily our favourite accommodation and the best butler service we experienced throughout our entire Yunnan trip!! Before we even arrived, the staff contacted us to confirm our ETA so they could prepare accordingly. When we reached the accommodation, they were already waiting outside to welcome us and were practically “fighting” to help carry our luggage 😂 Our butler then introduced us to the activities available, recommended nearby attractions, and showed us around our rooms and the amenities provided. Some of the things we especially appreciated: • Service: Everyone was extremely friendly, helpful and attentive. Any request was just a WeChat message away, and they were always quick to help. They also helped us receive quite a number of parcels we had ordered online, which made things so convenient for us. • Rooms & amenities: The rooms were clean, spacious and comfortable. One of our rooms had an amazing view of Erhai — waking up to that view was definitely a highlight! However, do take note that not every room has a view. Our other room did not have a view and was located directly beside the room door. There were also useful items available for guests at the lobby, such as sunscreen, insect repellent and sanitizer. • Afternoon tea: We really enjoyed this! There was a good selection of tea and coffee, the fruits were sweet, and both the flower pastries (鲜花饼) and rose cake were delicious. One day we were out and couldn't make it back for afternoon tea, so they actually saved our portion and left it in our room for us. • Little extras: We were each given a complimentary ticket to 小普陀 (XiaoPuTuo). Our room for 4 pax also included a complimentary photoshoot with 5 nicely taken and edited photos. • Night drink: The rose vinegar served at night was surprisingly good and refreshing — especially nice for tourists like us who had been eating all day 😂 • Thoughtful send-off: On our last day, we had to leave before breakfast time. Our butler prepared breakfast packs for us with milk, probiotic bread, fruits, steam eye masks and wipes. ----- There are just two small things we feel could be improved. 1. The toilet paper is currently placed inside a recessed hole in the bathroom wall, so having a proper toilet paper holder would make it more convenient. 2. It would also be great if the accommodation's outdoor logo/signage had lighting, as the area gets quite dark at night and the entrance can be a little difficult to spot. ----- These were very minor issues compared to our overall experience. We stayed at several accommodations throughout our Yunnan trip, and this was hands down the one that left the BEST impression on us. The butler service here was the best we experienced during the entire trip, and we genuinely felt very well taken care of from before we arrived until the moment we left. ❤️
