Posted on Jul 17, 2026|Yinqi Courtyard View Tatami Smart Double Bed Room
Guest UserI feel like I'd be doing a disservice if I didn't give a glowing review of Dali Molv - Shanshe Smart B&B (Dali Ancient City Branch) after my three-day stay. 'Picking chrysanthemums by the eastern fence, I gaze at Cangshan Mountain with leisure!' Firstly, let me talk about the experience from booking to check-in. After checking rankings and the location, I chose a spot outside the ancient city, about 250 meters from the main road, with Honglongjing Gate just across it. It's about a 12-minute walk to the ancient city, depending on your pace. We booked four rooms for eight people: three tatami queen beds and one tea tatami twin. After a call, we added each other on WeChat for communication, including breakfast and afternoon tea, and they were almost instantly responsive, with the longest wait being five minutes. For someone like me who values service feedback, this was incredibly efficient and satisfying.
Now, about the stay itself. While on the train from Kunming to Dali, we informed them 1-2 hours in advance of our estimated arrival time and afternoon tea preparation. The train journey was about 45 minutes. I initially thought about staying one night on the south side of Erhai Lake, but with seniors and children, I decisively opted for a continuous stay. Our subsequent dining and sightseeing experiences proved this to be the right choice, saving the elderly and children from unnecessary travel, especially the several folks in their early 70s. Upon arriving at the B&B, we were greeted by a Shiba Inu and another small dog whose name I don't recall (forgive my ignorance). Then, an aunt immediately went to call the front desk staff (the owner) for us. He promptly came out to welcome us and handled our check-in very enthusiastically. I must highlight a few check-in details: firstly, they upgraded two of our queen rooms. Secondly, they insisted on carrying our three suitcases to each room, though we 'rescued' our luggage from them. Finally, in each room, they patiently explained how to use the intelligent 'Xiao Ai' smart speaker, the bathroom equipment, the complimentary drinks in the fridge, and the humidifier's location. The fully smart toilet with disposable seat covers (which most hotels don't provide) was a great convenience for travelers like us. In short, everything in the room was free.
After settling our belongings in the rooms, we headed to the tearoom to enjoy the custom-made, freshly baked afternoon tea. Two servings were already prepared, and two more were brought over as we sat down, totaling four servings, which confirmed they were prepared fresh. Both children and adults loved it, especially the waffles which disappeared instantly. The floral tea, fruit, rose cakes, and pastries were absolutely delicious and beautifully presented.
Moving on to the overall experience during our stay, the rooms were very spacious, with an open-plan layout, and the bathroom, shower, and vanity areas were all dry/wet separated. But what I want to emphasize most is the quality of service. Firstly, regarding drinks, the young man told us not to hesitate to ask them for anything we needed, immediately alleviating any shyness we might have had. Secondly, breakfast only required 10-20 minutes notice for freshly prepared meals. There were A and B set menus to choose from, and the rice noodles were better than those found in chain hotels – abundant and satisfying. As for the environment, please refer to the photos; it's certainly among the top-tier B&Bs. They also have their own small bar, which I didn't visit, but I drank plenty of refillable iced lattes, which my son particularly loved and had every day. A crucial point is the complimentary sweet soup before bed every night, with different options for the two nights. The first night was red bean and peanut sweet soup; the bowl in the photo shows how delicious it looked. The second night was mung bean and coix seed sweet soup, and they proactively reminded us that it was available whenever we wanted. On the first day, we returned quite late from sightseeing and even troubled them to deliver it to our rooms (four people came back from dinner and walking around the ancient city). We returned after 10 PM, and after we told them, they quickly came to collect the bowls. They initially told us to just leave them outside, but their service was so good that I couldn't bear to leave them out, fearing they might be accidentally damaged. Soon, two young ladies came to collect from all four of our rooms. They were kind and beautiful, and every staff member we met greeted us warmly.
On the second night, we had eaten too much and hadn't thought about asking for the sweet soup, but I was pleased that even without us asking, they proactively offered it. Another detail worth mentioning: on the first night, my son had a nosebleed while picking his nose in his sleep, staining the duvet and sheets. I informed them and offered to cover the cleaning fee, but they simply told me, 'Brother, it's fine, we can get it cleaned today,' which instantly made me feel very warm inside. Before our outings, they also provided us with travel suggestions. I've attached some beautiful photos and recorded my feelings for everyone's reference. I strongly recommend this place to any friends traveling with family who want to find tranquility amidst the hustle and bustle.

Anonymous UserWe absolutely loved our stay at Mengjing Yayuan. For context, we usually stay at 5 star hotels when traveling internationally.
The location of Mengjing Yayuan was hard to beat, as it is quite literally a block away from the entrance of Dali Ancient City and the reviews were great, so we decided to book. It is more of a boutique style hotel, but with very good management, facilities, and amenities. The air conditioning in our room was modern/updated and worked very well, which was great since that's not always the case in China.
Communication with the front desk/reception was very easy through Wechat, and any requests were fulfilled very quickly and happily. I speak Chinese, but I don't think it would have been much of a problem if I didn't given the in-built translation on Wechat. They also provide a free laundry service, which was invaluable!
Breakfast was simple, but delicious and filling. You choose a cooked noodle dish out of several options that's made fresh for you, and also have a buffet available, so there was something for even pickier eaters.
Overall, lovely stay and we would totally come back for our next visit!

AramiRexWe stayed here from 12–15 May during our honeymoon and decided to do our Yunnan trip entirely on our own. Dali was our first destination after landing in Kunming the night before, and it turned out to be the perfect start to our journey.
Since our train arrived early at around 9:00 AM, I contacted the host a few days in advance to ask if an early check-in would be possible. Not only were they happy to accommodate our request, but they also kindly offered to pick us up from the station. Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed by our host, Mei, who gave us a tour of the property after check-in.
The hotel exceeded our expectations. The architecture is absolutely stunning, from the outside, it feels like staying in a beautiful traditional palace within the old town, while the interior is thoughtfully modernized with every comfort you could need. Our room was incredibly spacious, and we especially loved the heated bathroom floors and the bidet, which was a pleasant surprise. There is also a rooftop area where guests can enjoy a beautiful sunrise view.
Breakfast was another highlight of our stay. Guests are given several options, and parts of the menu change daily, which kept things interesting. What we looked forward to most every morning was the amazing yogurt served with homemade rose jam, it was honestly the best we've ever had. We mentioned how much we loved it, and at the end of our stay, Mei surprised us with a jar to take home. Such a thoughtful gesture!
Every evening, the hotel served a warm dessert, introducing us to flavors that were completely new yet delicious. We were also treated to a complimentary afternoon tea. To make our honeymoon even more special, Mei and her team surprised us with a personalized cake, which was incredibly touching.
The location is very convenient, with several Muslim-friendly eateries within a 10-minute walk, as well as convenience stores nearby.
What truly sets this place apart, however, is the hospitality. Out of all the accommodations we stayed at during our Yunnan trip, this was by far the best. Mei went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, constantly sharing recommendations, travel tips, and local insights to help us make the most of our time in Dali. We genuinely felt cared for throughout our stay.
I would highly recommend this hotel, especially for honeymooners and newlyweds looking for a memorable and heartfelt experience. InsyaAllah, we will definitely return on our future trips to Dali.

Guest UserThe hotel staff was extremely welcomimg and caring. We truly enjoyed our stay. Breakfast was delicious. I especially enjoyed the fresh Soy Bean Milk and their local delicious fresh corn every morning. We were offered a ride around the lake by the hotel manager, he showed us the best places to buy authentic Yunnan Tea outside of the main tourist traps and received a small gift on our departure. It felt more like staying with friends than being just another customer at the hotel. The room was super nice, clean and we had everything we needed. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Posted on Aug 8, 2026|Deluxe Room, One King-size Bed, Lake View
Guest UserThe rooms and facilities are just so-so, nothing special. The hotel is located across from Dali Port, so the view is alright, but it doesn't really stand out compared to other hotels and guesthouses right on Erhai Lake. If you don't book a lake-view room, you won't see anything. And the lake-view rooms face the street, so you'll hear loud motorcycles at night.
The location is actually quite far from places like Dali Ancient City, the Three Pagodas, and Xizhou Ancient Town. Even the closest destination is about a 40-minute taxi ride, and the farther ones can take nearly two hours – and that's assuming no traffic jams, which are pretty much guaranteed in this area.
Before booking, I saw several recent reviews mentioning free room upgrades. I didn't get one, and they didn't even ask. I quietly checked the available upgraded rooms myself, but whatever. The only positive highlight was the butler service; they were very attentive and sent lots of information.
However, that one good impression was ultimately ruined by the front desk. I had told the butler that my child needed to sleep, so we'd check out an hour later, and the butler had even noted it down. Yet, right at 12 PM, they called me to check out! I had to explain that the butler had already arranged an extension, and only then did they say they'd check. Don't you people look at these requests? What's the point of having a butler then?

I finally stayed at this beautiful B&B that I've been eyeing for a while. The ecological environment in Haixi is fantastic, and it's not as crowded or commercialized as other places like Dali Ancient City or Shuanglang. It's incredibly laid-back, and I felt relaxed the moment I checked in, ready for my vacation ⛱️.
Even though I did my research beforehand, I was still blown away when I opened the door. The room has huge floor-to-ceiling windows, offering stunning views of Erhai Lake and the springtime trees outside. It's definitely a must-stay when you're in Dali.
The staff here are so friendly and welcoming. The breakfast is really delicious and plentiful, and they even prepare beautifully presented afternoon tea. Apparently, you can also order some nice cocktails from the coffee shop downstairs in the evening. I'll definitely be recommending this place to my family and friends!

Guest UserBack in Dali, I decided to revisit the Xianyun 360-degree Cliff Seaview Hot Spring B&B, and it truly lived up to expectations! The front desk staff were incredibly polite and attentive. I later found out that the humble and helpful manager, who was always ready to assist, was also from Beijing, which made me feel right at home. The B&B's environment is serene and immaculate. The private hot spring pool in the room is definitely the highlight. Soaking in the hot spring, you're directly facing the Cangshan Mountains and Erhai Lake – it's like a landscape painting come to life. During my downtime, I loved sitting on the balcony, gazing at Cangshan and Erhai, which was incredibly therapeutic after a long journey. The restaurant's dishes were delicious and flavorful. My experience was as excellent as ever, truly a hidden gem of a seaview B&B. Choosing to stay here twice speaks volumes about its reliable quality. It’s my top choice when visiting Dali, highly recommended!

Amy LCWe stayed at this hotel for 2 nights as a family of 3 adults and 1 child. We paid approximately SGD600 extra to upgrade to the 2-Bedroom Family Suite. While the extra space was appreciated, we felt the upgrade did not provide good value for the additional cost.
Pros
* The suite is spacious and comfortable, with two separate bedrooms.
* It provides good privacy for family members or caregivers looking after a child.
* The hotel staff were responsive to my messages via Trip.com and accommodated my requests whenever possible.
Cons
1. Family Suites are only located on Level 1. Although advertised as an ocean-view room, the view is much more limited compared to rooms on the higher floors.
2. Limited mermaid show experience from Level 1. Even if you pay for the mermaid interaction, the mermaids do not swim down to Level 1, making it difficult to enjoy the experience from the suite.
3. The Level 1 aquarium view mainly features large marine animals such as sharks, stingrays, sea turtles, and large fish. Guests who prefer colourful reef fish may find the higher floors more enjoyable.
4. The upgrade does not include hotel privileges. After paying for the Family Suite upgrade, we were surprised that benefits such as complimentary Ocean World admission were no longer included. We had to purchase the entrance tickets separately.
5. Housekeeping needs improvement. After the second day’s housekeeping service, the bathrobes were left on the TV console instead of being neatly arranged, and the coffee cup in the coffee machine had not been cleaned.
6. Strong cigarette smell in the toilet. Although the room was designated as non-smoking, the bathroom had a cigarette smell throughout our stay.
7. Insufficient towels. Our booking was for 4 guests, but housekeeping consistently provided only 2 bath towels. We had to request additional towels on both days.
8. The bathroom layout is not ideal for a family. Although the suite has 2 toilets, there is only 1 shower area, which can be inconvenient when multiple people are getting ready at the same time.
9. The corridor lighting system is confusing and inconvenient. When we left the room, it was normal for the corridor lights to switch off. However, when we returned, the motion sensor did not activate the lights. Pressing the regular light switch also did not work—we had to press the “Meeting” button to turn the corridor lights on. As a result, the corridor was often completely dark at night, and we ended up hanging our own portable light near the shoe rack for better visibility.
Overall
The room itself is spacious and suitable for families. However, considering the significant additional cost of the upgrade, we expected better housekeeping standards, a smoke-free environment, and the same guest benefits offered with other room categories. Unless you specifically need the extra bedroom space, the standard ocean-view rooms on the higher floors may offer better value for money.

Dali Majiuyi Zaigu Seaview Courtyard Guesthouse is absolutely stunning! The facilities are high-end, and the rooms are exceptionally well-equipped. The large floor-to-ceiling windows offer expansive views, and enjoying a bath in the tub while watching the sunset is pure bliss. The setting is breathtaking, with a beautifully landscaped courtyard. The sea-view terrace is so picturesque, every casual shot looks like a professional photograph. The service is incredibly thoughtful. Our butler was warm and attentive, providing complimentary luggage transfer and even welcome fruit upon check-in. The cleanliness is impeccable. The bedding is fresh and soft, daily deep cleaning is performed, and even the hidden corners are spotless. It's undoubtedly the top choice for a holiday by Erhai Lake!
