"This hotel was a great choice for our multi-week road trip, even if the drive up the mountain was indeed challenging, it was worth it. The design, quality, service, and dining were all excellent in every aspect. The attention to detail was exceptional, surpassing even some international luxury brands. To have such thoughtful and delicious food in a mountain setting like this is truly rare. It's also clear that the local staff are very well-trained.
A few small suggestions: Personally, even for a secluded, getaway-style hotel, not having a TV in the room can be a bit boring. You could have one – whether guests watch it or not, at least they'd have the option (perhaps for casting). I hope that next time we visit, the road will be improved, and mosquito screens will be installed in the rooms so we can confidently open the windows and enjoy the mountain air. Because we love it, we hope it becomes even more perfect."

"Our vacation at Pullman was perfect thanks to our butler, Mary. Upon arrival, she thoughtfully prepared a platter of sweet and delicious welcome fruits. Her daily itinerary suggestions were incredibly detailed, even including niche photo spots. She proactively offered a complimentary children's breakfast buffet, which had a great variety that made the kids happy. The pre-arranged bed rail also ensured our baby slept soundly. What’s even more remarkable is her ability to anticipate our needs, always asking about our plans and checking in on our stay experience. This proactive service, going above and beyond her duties, added an extra layer of warmth to the beautiful scenery of Cangshan and Erhai. This level of attentiveness alone makes it worth coming back for."

"When I came to Dali this time, I looked at a lot of scenic hotels and finally played it safe by choosing the Indigo Hotel Dali. In terms of location, the hotel is right on the coastal avenue by Erhai Lake. The view is excellent, and there are many dining options nearby.
The hotel generally maintains Indigo's consistent design aesthetic. The lobby design has a strong Dali character, and the public areas facing Erhai Lake are impressive. The overall check-in experience and service were decent and up to standard. The small gift given at checkout was a thoughtful touch.
This stay was in a 180-degree balcony lake view room. The overall room size isn't huge; including the balcony, it's over 40 square meters, but the indoor space feels a bit cramped. The amenities are the familiar Indigo brand, and the bedding is good, although the bed isn't very large. The room has a complimentary minibar, which is a plus. Of course, the room's biggest feature and value is the view directly facing Erhai Lake. The 180-degree lake view coupled with good weather made me overlook any other minor issues with the hotel. However, the first-row lake view also means street noise, and even with the glass, there was still some noise.
Regarding dining, I only experienced the complimentary afternoon tea this time. Since it was free, I can't complain; it was an average afternoon tea, haha. There are many Yunnan restaurants around the hotel. The hotel itself has a buffet restaurant, which you can try if you don't want to go out.
Overall, if you want a great view and don't want to risk a bad guesthouse, choosing Indigo Hotel Dali is a safe bet for Erhai Lake. The overall service maintained its standard. The view is absolutely stunning. For those prioritizing the view, I recommend starting with the 180-degree view room types, and it's best to choose floors 6 and above for a better overall experience."

Areas for improvement:
1. The hotel needs to clarify its positioning. If it's a high-end family-friendly hotel, then the kids' programs need to be well-developed to keep children engaged. If it's positioned as a high-end resort for adults, then there should be clear restrictions on young children to ensure public areas, including restaurants, remain quiet and orderly. For a hotel at this price point, the environment should meet guests' expectations.
2. Improve accessibility for self-driving guests. All three roads leading in and out of the hotel are single-lane, making it incredibly difficult to pass oncoming vehicles. My car was scratched on the way out.
3. Service details need improvement. One day, we returned to our room at 1 PM to find it hadn't been cleaned. On another day, around 3 PM, we found standing water on the bathroom floor – I'm not sure how the cleaning staff managed that. We had three people staying, but only ever received two bath towels. The restaurant staff lacked experience and weren't attentive enough. When settling the bill, they never asked if I had any discount vouchers (which resulted in me paying full price for 4 out of 5 meals, charged to the room, and non-modifiable)."

"During my leisure time, I went to the Seaview Bookstore to await the sunrise, enjoyed three types of tea, made rubbings of horse talismans, and sewed herbal sachets, then took a leisurely walk on the less-traveled forest path. The garden itself has a Kyoto-esque tranquility. The Weishan Braised Pork Er'si at the morning noodle station was the biggest surprise, and the medicinal pork hock with wild mushroom oil was an authentic Yunnan flavor that I instantly fell in love with. For breakfast, you can even choose a Hello Kitty plate, which is super cute! The view right outside the window is stunning, with Cangshan Mountain in full view. This was an excellent staycation experience."

"Everything in the room was great, but it's a bit of a shame that W Hilton hasn't upgraded to smart toilets yet, while most places have them now. It would be a nice improvement if they could install them in the future. The kids' playground and pool were excellent; my little one had a blast! Room service was spot on, and the butler was very thoughtful. The breakfast delivered to the room was good, though the croissants were a bit too oily. Otherwise, I was satisfied. My elderly mother really enjoyed the evening bonfire dance. The view from the hotel window was also fantastic."

"Extremely satisfied! The hotel's location is fantastic, right by the South Gate of the old city, making sightseeing incredibly convenient. We stayed in a rooftop room with an absolutely stunning view! We had a close-up look at the majestic Cangshan Mountains and the mysterious clouds circling them. The service was very attentive! The front desk staff were so kind, and a charming young man enthusiastically helped us with our luggage both when checking in and checking out.

"Overall, the hotel is pretty good, from the service to the environment. The only drawback is that it's inconvenient to go out for meals. The hotel offers car service, but it actually costs extra, and the driver might recommend some self-funded attractions. Out of trust in the driver, I went to Zhangjia Garden only to find the 90-yuan entrance fee wasn't really worth it. So, it's essential to do more research before you go. There was also a minor flaw: the bathroom wasn't cleaned properly, which was a bit uncomfortable.

"I loved this hotel! My husband and I came here for a vacation and immediately felt relaxed. The location at the foot of Cangshan Mountain is so comfortable and full of greenery, with flowers and plants everywhere – truly therapeutic! The butler service was also very attentive, fulfilling every request promptly.
The only minor drawback was the breakfast. While the variety was decent, the taste was pretty average. I'd also suggest to the hotel that they improve the ventilation in the breakfast room. The mix of food smells, combined with poor ventilation, made the experience a bit less enjoyable.
Aside from that, everything else was fantastic, and it would definitely be my first choice if I visit Dali again!"
