"Finally checked into Dali Moxuan Dali Huoshan. The winding mountain road up was completely worth it the moment I stood on the terrace overlooking the entire Erhai Lake.
The hotel is built into the mountainside, with a rustic yet sophisticated design featuring stone and natural wood. The interplay of light and shadow is beautiful throughout, and there's even an exclusive Huoshan Art Museum, making every corner feel artistic. The rooms offer excellent privacy, with large floor-to-ceiling windows framing the mountains and sea like a painting. Room details are very thoughtful, including oxygen supply, so no worries about altitude sickness.
The butler was attentive throughout, providing service that was both discreet and warm. The food at the Shanchan Restaurant was a pleasant surprise, and both the local breakfast specialties and afternoon tea were prepared with great care. Here, there's no need to rush your itinerary; just lie back, watch the clouds, and wait for the sunset. It's a true escape from the hustle and bustle, allowing you to genuinely slow down. If you're looking for a secluded retreat in Dali, Moxuan Huoshan is definitely the top choice."

There is no shortage of things to see in the area, with the Erhai Lake Cruise, JinXingMing ShiJie and Erhai Park - Haixin Pavilion all nearby. In their spare time, guests can explore the hotel's surroundings. For those driving themselves, parking is provided on site. When it comes to Dali City hotels, the Pullman Dali is highly regarded for its excellent facilities. This hotel is particularly popular with those traveling with families.
"The hotel is relatively new, located directly opposite the pier for boat tours on Erhai Lake. I stayed for two nights over the weekend and wasn't bothered by any noise from the road. The room had a JBL speaker, a humidifier, complimentary welcome fruit, and free soft drinks in the mini-fridge. They also offered a complimentary 'starry sky' afternoon tea on the top floor. The gym and swimming pool on the 23rd floor offer great views. Bathroom amenities, hairdryer, and breakfast are all as pictured. It's about 8 km from the ancient city and 10 km from the airport, so it's conveniently located between the two. There are many dining options downstairs, and you can also take a stroll to Erhai Park. The service was excellent; they called to remind me and provide information the day before check-in, and there was a selection of pillows available. Soundproofing was average, but luckily, my neighbors were quiet during my two-day stay.
The breakfast restaurant is a bit small but offers specialty rice noodles, roasted sweet potatoes, and roasted potatoes. Overall, it's decent, though it can't compare to Shangri-La. It's comparable to the Dali Shili Hilton. The Shili Hilton's facilities are a bit older, but the rooms are larger, and it's closer to the ancient city, the Erhai Lake corridor, and the Cangshan Mountain cableway, though further from the airport."

"Switching from a guesthouse to Hotel Indigo, you could feel the five-star professionalism right from the moment you walked into the lobby. The cleanliness of the rooms, the prompt service, and the extensive breakfast spread are all great reasons to stay here. This Indigo directly faces Erhai Lake, offering stunning views from the window. The rooftop pool, in particular, makes you feel fully immersed in the Cangshan Mountain and Erhai Lake scenery—my kid and I went for a swim almost every day. It's very convenient to take kids to the Luge Park, and Hugo, a trendy restaurant, is just a 100-meter walk to the left of the hotel. However, just a heads-up: if you're a light sleeper, you might want to skip the lake-facing rooms, as the traffic noise from the road can be quite noticeable. The rooms on the other side are actually much more spacious and offer better value."

Areas for improvement:
1. The hotel needs to clarify its positioning. If it's a high-end family-friendly hotel, then the kids' programs need to be well-developed to keep children engaged. If it's positioned as a high-end resort for adults, then there should be clear restrictions on young children to ensure public areas, including restaurants, remain quiet and orderly. For a hotel at this price point, the environment should meet guests' expectations.
2. Improve accessibility for self-driving guests. All three roads leading in and out of the hotel are single-lane, making it incredibly difficult to pass oncoming vehicles. My car was scratched on the way out.
3. Service details need improvement. One day, we returned to our room at 1 PM to find it hadn't been cleaned. On another day, around 3 PM, we found standing water on the bathroom floor – I'm not sure how the cleaning staff managed that. We had three people staying, but only ever received two bath towels. The restaurant staff lacked experience and weren't attentive enough. When settling the bill, they never asked if I had any discount vouchers (which resulted in me paying full price for 4 out of 5 meals, charged to the room, and non-modifiable)."

"During my leisure time, I went to the Seaview Bookstore to await the sunrise, enjoyed three types of tea, made rubbings of horse talismans, and sewed herbal sachets, then took a leisurely walk on the less-traveled forest path. The garden itself has a Kyoto-esque tranquility. The Weishan Braised Pork Er'si at the morning noodle station was the biggest surprise, and the medicinal pork hock with wild mushroom oil was an authentic Yunnan flavor that I instantly fell in love with. For breakfast, you can even choose a Hello Kitty plate, which is super cute! The view right outside the window is stunning, with Cangshan Mountain in full view. This was an excellent staycation experience."

"Before booking, I was a bit hesitant because the rating wasn't great. However, my actual stay was very comfortable. The butler added me on WeChat during check-in, and we communicated smoothly. They responded promptly to all my messages and even sent information about the hotel and operating hours, which was super convenient and hassle-free. The connecting room offered fantastic views directly overlooking Erhai Lake, making it very open and airy with fresh air. In the mornings, a small squirrel even visited my balcony! Housekeeping was timely every day. I visited the executive lounge once, and it was also good, with even better views than the lobby. The concierge staff were all excellent; they always asked about luggage and helped open/close car doors whenever I got in or out. I tried the tie-dye and Jiamu activities, but I didn't experience the travel photography."
