4-Star Hotels in Sapporo

This hotel is super conveniently located right behind Sapporo JR Station, a short walk from the North Exit towards Hokkaido University. Hokkaido University itself is just across the street diagonally, and there's a FamilyMart, 7-Eleven, Lawson, and even a Hokkaido convenience store nearby – couldn't ask for more convenience! The area around Sapporo Station is also great for shopping and dining. You can grab all sorts of popular souvenirs, cakes, and desserts from Daimaru department store and bring them right back to the hotel to enjoy at your leisure! The room was clean, tidy, and comfortable. However, if you add an extra bed to a double room to make it a triple, there's not much space left to walk around once you open a large suitcase. The hotel breakfast was definitely up to standard. While the variety wasn't huge, the food tasted great. The roasted beef, desserts, vegetables, and steamed potatoes were all excellent, and they even had slight variations each day, which was a nice touch! Self-service luggage storage was also very convenient. I'd definitely stay here again next time I'm in Sapporo!

The hotel boasts an excellent location, right near Tanukikoji Shopping Street, within walking distance to Odori Park, the Sapporo TV Tower, and other attractions. It's incredibly convenient for both sightseeing and shopping. The bedding in the room is comfortable, and you can even see the Ferris wheel from the window, offering a great view. The staff are warm and polite. The front desk thoughtfully provides complimentary travel-sized toiletries like facial cleanser and toner. The breakfast quality is astonishing! The variety is extensive, and the ingredients are fresh. You can even DIY your own seafood bowls with sea urchin and sashimi. They also offer ramen, soup curry, and Japanese stir-fries. A particular green smoothie was delicious. The hotel has its own hot spring. Since the room bathrooms are a bit small, we mostly used the hot spring facilities for bathing during our stay, which was very comfortable and relaxing.

Additional review Pros: Location 1. Convenient transportation: After arriving at New Chitose Airport, take the JR train. Exit Sapporo South Exit on the first floor to the plaza, then turn right across the street to reach the hotel. You can also take the underground shopping street APIA, but you'll need to go up about ten steps as we couldn't find an accessible elevator. If you have luggage, it's more convenient to walk above ground. If you're taking the bus, there's a stop nearby, about 200 meters away. When we arrived, the adjacent block was under construction, and the ground was uneven, making it very inconvenient to push luggage. Under normal circumstances, it would be fine. However, the airport bus stop is right below the hotel, which is very convenient. Be sure to check the schedule; we saw many people queuing over two days, so it's likely you won't make it on the spot and might need to wait for the next bus. 2. Convenient for shopping and dining: Daimaru is opposite the hotel, Stella is next to Daimaru, and Tokyu is diagonally opposite Stella. You can see them all from the South Exit Plaza. The entrance to the underground shopping street APIA is right outside the hotel (via stairs), but we recommend taking the elevator down to B1 for direct access to APIA, which is extremely convenient on rainy days. The underground street directly connects to all nearby shopping malls and the JR station. The underground street itself has food and shopping. For dining, just follow the local office workers in line for authentic local flavors (be warned, some local ramen shops are incredibly salty, choose carefully). There are also plenty of restaurants nearby, but not many drugstores. The scattered two or three stores are small, suitable for restocking but not for major shopping. 3. Abundant and surprising breakfast: We entered and exited Sapporo, and compared to other options, this hotel's buffet breakfast had a wide variety and good quality. The seafood options for the DIY seafood bowl were also plentiful and replenished promptly. Friends who like a rich breakfast should not be disappointed. Besides the obvious advantages above, here are a few points to consider when choosing this hotel: 1. The front desk is on the 7th floor, with two direct elevators that require a key card. You might have to wait during peak hours, and their speed is average. 2. During check-in, the front desk insisted that everyone register via machine, but the system was cumbersome and prone to bugs. When we registered, there were a total of three machines and four groups of guests, including locals. Everyone eventually needed human assistance. The front desk staff started with smiles, but by the end, I felt it was good that they maintained their politeness. I wonder what the management is thinking; there are quite a few front desk staff, why add to everyone's burden? 3. The room size is normally small. The hallway and lobby are relatively new, while the rooms are slightly dated but acceptably clean. 4. The price is slightly higher than the surrounding area (this price difference is acceptable if you prioritize convenient transportation and shopping).

I have stayed in many hotels across Japan, and apart from its convenient location near the station, this is by far the worst hotel room I have experienced. When we checked in, there was a patch of oily liquid on the desk, making it obvious that the room had not been properly cleaned before our arrival. In addition, every furniture surface was covered with a noticeable layer of dust. I have attached a photo showing the amount of dust on the bed's headboard. Given the condition of the room, I believe the bedding was also dusty, which likely contributed to me becoming unwell, as I have a dust allergy. The carpet was old and appeared to be heavily dust-laden as well. It was the kind of room where simply taking a few steps seemed to stir dust into the air. I am genuinely surprised that a reputable hotel brand would deliver such a poor standard of housekeeping. Cleanliness is one of the most basic expectations of any hotel, and unfortunately, this room fell far below that standard

Booked two rooms for our last night in Sapporo before catching a flight the next day. For a few extra hundred yuan, we were upgraded to larger rooms at the front desk, which was great value for money, and the hotel felt very new. However, the bathroom in one of the rooms seemed like it hadn't been cleaned – the hairdryer cord wasn't tidied, the toilet paper wasn't folded into a triangle, and the stainless steel showerhead and mirror were full of water stains. Apart from the cleaning issue, we were quite satisfied with the room facilities.

Fantastic hotel! Breakfast starts at 6:30 AM, and there was a slight variation in the breakfast options over the two days. The room was incredibly spacious, with plenty of space to open multiple suitcases. The view was great, you could even see the Ferris wheel. Plus, it's just a few minutes' walk from the subway station.

The hotel is quite large, and a Japanese-style room can accommodate up to four adults, making it very spacious for just two people. The hotel has a clear policy that rooms are not cleaned for two-night stays; instead, only fresh supplies are provided. There are two hot spring areas with open-air baths. The one on the lower level features a wide variety of baths and tends to be crowded, while the Hoshizora Observatory on the upper floor of the new building is best visited before 5:00 PM—it’s uncrowded, pristine, and offers breathtaking views. The buffet, however, is a bit of a letdown. The dining hall is massive, yet none of the dishes stand out as particularly delicious. They do offer hand-pressed sushi, sea snails, and small sweet shrimp, along with seafood rice bowls (kaisendon) for breakfast, but the rest of the Western and Japanese dishes are mediocre in both appearance and taste. The hotel's location is fantastic. It's within walking distance of the tourist information center, where you can line up on a first-come, first-served basis to book various autumn foliage tours—after all, taking in the scenery is the priority, so avoiding massive crowds is key. Within a 1-kilometer walk across the bridge from the hotel, you'll find a delightful surprise: Mikasa Park, nestled among the mountains. For just 300 yen, you can play an 18-hole round of park golf. Right beside it is an American football field, and the huge lawn framed by the autumn landscape is truly uplifting.

Bed is rock hard. After 4 nights, I have serious back ache, plus I'm lacking in sleep, due to how hard and uncomfortable the bed was. The pool facility wasn't fully open (it only does so in August). The last week in July at least opens the some of the outside area for use, but it doesn't fully open until August. They'd also made the 25m outside pool a wipeout/ninja obstacle course so, if you want to actually swim [do some lengths etc] then the only place you can do this was initially only open in August and even then it is now taken over by an obstacle. The indoor sections are open all year round. You have to pay extra to access the slides - not too crazy at 500 or 600yen depending on the day for unlimited access (you're given a wristband). Breakfast was ok. Wide variety of foods - some of which I wouldn't normally associate with breakfast, but still nice to have choices. Signage claims it gets busy after 8am. This is definitely not true - it's busy when it first opens at 7am and then slowly gets quieter over the 7~10 opening times (last entry at 9:30). Can't speak about weekends tho. Shuttle bus is busiest at the 5pm time slot. Overall, a ”resort” that claims to be 4 stars it most certainly isn't. 2 stars yes. 2.5 maybe. But the whole place just feels quite dated and far from the luxury expected from a ”4 star hotel”. Apart from the bed as I've already mentioned, the room was a good enough size but all the decor and controls were old. The Aircon control was worn and glitchy (button presses would turn it off etc) but at least it worked and made the room the temp we wanted. The lighting panel has had so many changes there are stickers on it to blank out buttons which no longer function - fair enough, but maybe spend a bit of money on a decent upgrade??? This hotel isn't cheap!

We stayed for 2 nights, and had a pleasant stay. The hotel is 3 mins walk to Susukino and 5 mins walk to 狸小路 with many convenient stores and restaurants around. The front desk staff helped us to check in with the check in machine and the process was fast. We like the beds and room size, and the free flow of Haskap juice throughout afternoon and evening. The drawbacks are the front desk staff have limited English and didn’t understand our request to have a cleanup in our room as we were sleeping late and missed morning cleanup. The nearest airport shuttle bus stop across from hotel abest Sapporo is 4 blocks away and we have to take a taxi around 950yen with luggages to get there in the slushy snow. There are many Thai tourists in both evenings when we went back to hotel so the hotel is quite popular and crowded. Nevertheless the hotel was able to give us a high floor room away from elevators per our request and we had a quiet room which we appreciate a lot. Will definitely consider staying again given the hotel room is a good price!
