We stay here every year when we attend the Pro-Academy international tournament. This year we are sorry we booked! There was no breakfast or bar to get a drink, let us book, but on arrival no services on offer, the restaurant dedicated to the hotel was closed and had been for some time! Complete inconvenience, and wish we had stayed elsewhere!

I stayed at the North Stevenage hotel on the evening of 23 April 20024 and am a loyal user of Premier Inns for business and have stayed about 20 nights in the last year. The stay concerned was by far the worst I have experienced over the last 10 years and I will not be staying at this hotel ever again and question if I will use other hotels in this group anymore. Main issues: 1. I went to check in at 2.35pm (check in from 3pm) and was asked by the receptionist if I would like to pay an additional 10 pounds for an early check in. This has never happened previously when I had arrived a little early so I declined and sat in my car for 25 mins. I had already paid 162.99 pounds for bed, breakfast and dinner which I considered a very high price for what I was getting in this location. 2. Staff on reception did not seem to know what they were doing and seemed more interested in looking at their phones. 3. Service during the evening meal at the Beefeater was terrible. There were 2 waiting staff serving around 8 tables and I had to wait 30 minutes to receive a drink after I sat down. When I wanted a second drink later on I went to the bar myself and ordered one. The waiting staff had no interest in customer service and were more interested in chatting together and playing on their phones on the level below where the customers were. I was given a desert knife to each a steak pie. 4. In the morning, I came down for breakfast and found notices on the reception desk door saying breakfast had been cancelled and reception staff did not know why. I asked them for a receipt as I had already paid for the breakfast on my meal deal. A receipt was issued but the full payment with breakfast was taken from my credit card and no refund for the breakfast has been given and this is now more than one month later. 5. Other guests in the restaurant were similarly amazed with what they observed in the restaurant too regarding customer service and staff behaviour. A full refund of 162.99 pounds should be given for this terrible experience. I wrote to complain to Premier Inn who responded with an automated message saying it would be 25-30 days before I received a response. This was 32 days ago now and I have yet to receive a response.

Hotel was ok for what we needed, resturant was a disaster..... waited 40 minutes to be served n the staff didn't seem to know what they were doing. I'd it wasn't for fact we had booked the meal deal within our booking we would have gone and ate somewhere else.

Location was great and service was friendly. The only disappointment was that the Beefeater desperately needs some TLC - from the Manager of the site and the Company. Weeds, rubbish, potholes, full ashtrays are what greets you. Wouldn't take much to sort tis out very quickly - just someone who cares.

I normally like Premier Inns, typically the rooms are clean and the service reasonable for the cost. Unfortunately, this cannot be said about this particular Premier Inn. Upon entering my room I was greeted by the cold of an open window and the cloying smell of damp. Closing the window showed the mold growing on the walls and the peeling paint, which extended to the corners of the room. The bathroom, although nominally clean, stank with an unpleasant mustiness whose origin I would not want to contemplate. The associated restaurant was a shambles, serving vastly overpriced garbage and forgetting to open for breakfast on time. I was very happy to leave after one sleepless night and will ensure that I never have to return to this tired hole of a hotel.

Location, staff, bed etc all fine just the bath/shower was covered in hairs. We only stayed the one night. We arrived late at night and left early in the morning so wasn’t a huge deal. Cleanliness could have been so much better

We had to arrive the hotel before being told quite abruptly that we couldn’t check in early for £10 extra so we were left waiting around for 3 hours. Why bother sending us an email about early check in?? Ordered an evening meal and our mains arrived before the starter. On return to our room there was a foul musty stench which we tried to mask with aftershave and deodorant. The stench got worse( Sewage) and we had to ask to move to another room at 10pm. The whole corridor stank of sewage. Breakfast next morning, the cooked food was lukewarm at best.
