Superb location, right opposite Kyoto station within 5 minutes walk. Room is very spacious, able to have 2 full luggage opened, and still have space to have food. They also help to store luggage after check out. Highly recommended!

This hotel is incredibly close to Kyoto Station (just a 5-minute walk, and very easy to find if you exit from the Central Gate), making it super convenient for getting around. There's a 7-Eleven conveniently located directly across the street, and plenty of great restaurants within a 10-minute walk. It's very clean and quiet, and laundry facilities are available. I stayed in a Kyoto Tower room, which had large windows (though they don't open) offering a great view of Kyoto Tower.

The breakfast was so nice even tempura was delicious as it was hot enough and very crispy. For the fruit it tasted so good and it costs ¥3000/person which is so affordable😆 When you just get in the hotel you will felt so comfortable since they had set up aromatherapy in the hotel lobby and it made me feel relaxed and it smells so nice for me❤️ I would love to get back to this hotel once I get back to Kyoto😍

Perfect stay - perfect distance to Kyoto station. You can also take the shuttle. Staff was very friendly. Good value for money. I personally didn’t try the food. But it must be very good, because a lot of Japanese business people came in just for eating

The stay was wonderful. Location right infront of Kyoto station & local bus interchange. If you came late from Kansai airport by limousine. the limousine will stop at Kyoto Avanti 3-5min away from this hotel. If you join day tour, the pick up point is same at Limousine drop of point. Many 7/11 & restaurants around. The hotel look very new, room & bed was very comfortable and toilet was very clean. Hotel's staff front deck & housekeeping very polite. The coffee house open for free hot & cool beverages for guests from afternoon till 10pm. Will sure book this hotel if we visit Kyoto again.

We stayed at Urban Hotel Kyoto Shijo Premium for 1 night. The location of the hotel was closed to Gion district and Nishiki market by bus. There is a bus stop outside the hotel where you can catch a bus to Kyoto station. The room was clean but very small in size as we expected. We stayed in a queen queen, and the bed was comfortable. The room was quiet, and the bathroom was clean . There is a public bath in the hotel, which is free to use, but we didn't manage to use it.

The hotel facilities are quite new, and the rooms are very spacious, making for a comfortable stay for families. The hotel is easily spotted right outside Umekoji-Kyotonishi Station on the JR San-in Line. It's just one stop from Kyoto Station, which is very convenient. (The journey typically takes around 15 minutes, but it's always a good idea to check Google Maps for train schedules and plan your time accordingly.) There are also two bus stops nearby, adding to its convenience, and it's located away from the bustling city center. It's particularly convenient for visiting the Kyoto Railway Museum. For trips to Arashiyama, staying here is great as it's on the JR line. Getting to Kawaramachi Shijo takes about half an hour by bus, with all these routes easily accessible via Kyoto Station. There's a FamilyMart convenience store and a Starbucks right downstairs, which is incredibly handy. The hotel's large public bath (essentially a hot pool) is quite clean and perfect for a relaxing soak to unwind after a day of sightseeing. Overall, I highly recommend it for families traveling with children!

Excellent place to stay. Free public bath spa in the hotel. Plus: PJs and extra toiletries like makeup remover, cotton pads provided. Lunch: Good lunch buffet with homemade tofu. Value for money. Laundry: Coin machine at 400 yen a cycle. Good value. Venue: Walking distance to huge local supermarket, pharmacy and a nearby neighbourhood mall, BIV. Near the world heritage Nijio Castle. Bus stop just outside. Feels safe in coming back late as the hotel is just next to the main road.

The hotel is just one stop away from Kyoto JR Station; you step right out into it. There's also a bus stop right outside the entrance. It's very convenient for visiting attractions in Kyoto city. The whole place feels very new and modern. You're required to take off your shoes upon entering the hotel, and walking barefoot throughout the entire premises takes a bit of getting used to. They offer complimentary late-night noodles starting at 9:30 PM daily. In the mornings, there's unlimited Yakult, and in the evenings, free-flow ice pops. Both indoor and outdoor onsen (hot springs) are available. However, since Kyoto likely doesn't have volcanoes, the overall quality of the hot springs can't quite compare to similar hotels in areas like Hakone. P.S. This hotel belongs to the same management group as Mizunone, where I stayed in Hakone last year.

Very convenient location of the hotel, close to Kyoto train station, bus stop. The rooms are comfortable, there is a small wardrobe, a shelf by the bed, a small table. Next to the bed is a USB socket for charging a smartphone. Cleaning, clean towels and a set of home clothes (sweatshirt and trousers) every day. Excellent breakfasts, a large selection of delicious Japanese and European dishes.

GGuest UserThe hotel is quite a distance from both the subway station and the main shopping street, making shopping quite inconvenient. Even the bus stop requires about a 100-meter walk and crossing an overpass. They offer a public bathhouse with separate sections for men and women. The water was quite clean, and it felt incredibly relaxing to soak in after a long day of walking. My room, located on the 9th floor, had a distinct urine-like odor when the air conditioning was turned on. The smell only dissipated after I used the air purifier. The included buffet breakfast had a rather limited selection of items. On a positive note, there's an excellent ramen shop located right downstairs from the hotel, which is definitely worth a visit.

PPanjinxielingyunThis is my third visit to Kyoto, and having always stayed near Nishi Honganji Temple, I can confidently say this is the best hotel I've experienced so far in the area. I stayed here for four consecutive nights this time, and my overall experience was excellent. The breakfast spread was extensive, and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. It seemed to attract a lot of Western guests, and they offer a convenient shuttle service to Kyoto Station. I felt it offered excellent value for money, and I highly recommend it. I would definitely stay here again on my next visit.

AAhmet ZekiDear Sir/Madam, I recently had the opportunity to stay at your hotel, and I would like to share my experience with you. First and foremost, I want to express my gratitude for the exceptional design and comfort your property offers. Kengo Kuma’s architectural brilliance, with its use of natural wood, thoughtful lighting, and integration of art pieces, creates a stunning and serene atmosphere. Additionally, the comfort of the rooms, the quality of the materials, the size of the beds, and the premium linens were truly impressive. In terms of design and comfort, your hotel sets a remarkable standard. However, I did encounter several service-related issues that I believe could be addressed to enhance the overall guest experience. I would like to share these points in the hope that they are helpful for future improvements: 1. Breakfast Lounge and Sushi Area: The proximity of these two areas creates a strong odor upon entering, which can be unpleasant. Improved ventilation could easily mitigate this issue. 2. Food and Beverage Service After Breakfast: The lack of food and beverage service after breakfast hours was inconvenient. At the very least, providing a space for guests to enjoy tea or coffee would be a welcome addition. 3. Room Service Availability: After a long journey, I was surprised to learn that room service was unavailable and that only rice balls could be provided. Expanding room service options would greatly improve the guest experience. 4. Flexibility with Breakfast Hours: Due to the time difference, I arrived slightly late for breakfast at 10:10 AM and was informed that nothing could be served. Even my request for tea did not receive a clear response. Greater flexibility in accommodating guests dealing with jet lag would be highly appreciated. 5. Lobby Services: The inability to offer anything to drink or even host a guest in the lobby felt restrictive. This could be improved to make the lobby a more welcoming space. 6. Spa Experience: I was unable to experience the renowned Banyan Tree spa as it was fully booked. Expanding spa reservation availability would help meet guest expectations for this signature offering. In summary, while the hotel excels in design and comfort, the service offerings seem to be constrained by rigid rules and limited hours, which can detract from the overall guest experience. I strongly believe that adopting a more flexible, guest-centered approach would significantly enhance satisfaction. If the above issues were addressed, I would certainly consider staying at your hotel again during my next visit to Kyoto. Once again, I want to thank you for the exceptional design and comfort provided during my stay and hope that these suggestions contribute to further elevating your standards. Best regards, next visit to Kyoto. AapplezsqAn absolutely fantastic hotel! Everything, from the facilities and amenities to the exceptional service, was top-notch. Its location is incredibly convenient for exploring Ninen-zaka, Sannen-zaka, and Kiyomizu-dera. Nestled in a quiet spot amidst the bustling city, it's ideal for a city walk through the charming old town. The ambiance was so evocative, it made me feel like I was stepping into a Japanese movie scene – truly wonderful. Breakfast was exquisitely delicious and authentically Japanese. A special shout-out to the lovely lady at the restaurant who thoughtfully wrote me a postcard in Chinese when we checked out – it was such a wonderfully warm gesture. The afternoon snacks and the bar area were also very comfortable and inviting. The spa facilities were quiet and elegant, providing a perfect retreat to relax and unwind after a long day. Japanese politeness is truly ingrained in their culture. While some might find formal politeness a bit distant, I view it as a beautiful way to create a pleasant and harmonious environment for everyone. I absolutely loved my stay and will definitely be returning.

GGuest UserThe room is compact, as expected for a typical Japanese hotel, but it’s well-equipped with thoughtful features like a washing machine, microwave, and bathtub. Essentials such as a hairdryer, electric kettle, air purifier/humidifier, air-conditioning, and basic toiletries are all provided. In the lobby, you can help yourself to additional amenities like combs, toothbrushes, razors, cotton buds, and body sponges. Housekeeping changes towels and clears trash daily, provided you place the designated magnet outside your door. Complimentary coffee, tea, and water are available at the lobby’s self-service corner. From 3–8 PM, there’s a free snack bar and a sake corner. At check-in, we received 12 coin tokens (for three people over five nights), which can be exchanged for sake—non-alcoholic options are available too. The only downside is a slightly damp, musty smell in the room. Location-wise, it’s excellent—just a short walk from the train station and close to convenience stores. Note that there’s no complimentary breakfast buffet

GGuest UserBasically, it meets my expectations of a traditional Japanese hotel. I have stayed in this kind of Japanese-style hotel in Mount Fuji and Yuzawa, and I think it is very stylish. Staying in an ordinary hotel in Kyoto always feels too detached. In order to avoid leg and knee discomfort, I booked a comfortable Japanese room with ordinary chairs and tables. It is not so difficult to stand up. If the tatami mattress feels hard, you can put another mattress underneath. As for the problem of too much light in the morning without curtains mentioned in the reviews, it does not exist for us, because I booked breakfast at 7 o'clock, and went to the attractions I wanted to go after eating. There were fewer people and the experience was much stronger... During the cherry blossom season in Kyoto, it feels like there are people from all over the world, and there are more Westerners than Asians...It doesn't matter what you wear, some wear down jackets, some wear shorts, and suspender skirts. There are people speaking all kinds of languages... The hotel is very conveniently located, opposite the central exit of Kyoto Station, go into the alley of Family Mart, turn left and walk 100 meters. Porta dining at Kyoto Station has all kinds of food, and we basically solved it in 4 days. There is also a chain restaurant called ”The King of Dumplings.” I saw it in many places, but in fact, it not only has dumplings, but also stir-fried rice and noodles. The dumplings are really good, but the ”twice-cooked pork” will subvert your imagination... The room layout is reasonable, the bathroom is separated into dry and wet areas, and there is a bathtub. We didn't go to the hot spring downstairs (men and women are separated, naked. Bring your own bath towels and slippers from the room). I think the bathtub bubbles are refreshing. The room is very clean and comfortable to use. Someone will make the bed at night. I told them that make bed is not good, but lay out futon. If I have to say the shortcomings, I think the cleaning is not very careful every day. The floor towels and towels were not replenished on the second day, and the bed was not made again. The breakfast is too plain... Every day is fish, there are many varieties, and I always feel that I am not full. But this is how people eat, even if it is an experience of local food. In short, the location is great, it's convenient to go anywhere, the subway and bus are very close, there are many transportation lines in Kansai, except for JR, they are all operated by different companies, but fortunately the route signs are clear, and the important thing is that SUICA cards are universal, so there is no need to buy tickets separately, which saves a lot of trouble. When we came to Japan in the early 2000s, we still bought tickets separately, and we could only use cash. By the way, check out at 10 o'clock, and the luggage can be stored at the front desk. The front desk service attitude is very good. Although the English is not very standard, it is no problem to understand. In short, recommended!

RRizhaomengnvMy absolute favorite in Japan! The staff member at the front desk was incredibly friendly. All the water in the hotel is filtered and potable, which is a fantastic perk! My single room had excellent soundproofing and great blackout curtains – so much so that I even overslept and missed check-out the next day! I rushed out, forgot my room card, and the staff member patiently helped me out. I promise I won't be so silly next time! Highly recommended! The location is also fantastic, just about ten meters from the subway entrance – incredibly convenient! (Didn't manage to snap photos of the hotel itself, so here are a few from Kyoto instead!)
