I had a pleasant stay at this hotel. The room was clean and comfortable, and the staff were polite and helpful. The location was convenient, and all the basic amenities were provided. Overall, everything met my expectations, and I was satisfied with my stay.

Extremely satisfied with this hotel! It's clean, tidy, and conveniently located. The room layout is very comfortable, and the facilities are brand new. A special thanks to the warm and friendly staff at the front desk! I hope this 'cozy' hotel continues to thrive. I'll definitely stay here again next time I visit Kyoto!

Location not the best and can find nearer to Kyoto station with same price. The location only good to go Nijojo castle, Toji Temple & Ginkako temple. Nothing much nearby, no night bars only a restaurant opposite it. The worst was no lift, for a female with 20 kg luggage, I have to carry it for 4 levels up and down all by myself. It’s understandable no space to install lift, but pls consider to install a luggage travel lift. Layout of the room is very good especially bath and toilet inside the room. Some may not like it cause ppl may back late night to bath and make noises. But I do like the single room layout with small dress up table before the capsule bed.

The rooms are typically small, but the hygiene is excellent. You can do your laundry, but getting a slot is tough; I suggest going early in the morning for the wash and dry, though I could never wake up that early myself. The hotel's location is good, with a direct bus to Kyoto Station. There's no breakfast, but you can grab a meal at Sukiya right outside, which is pretty good value for money. If the hotel were a bit cheaper, it would be great, but for weekend prices, I'd probably look elsewhere.

Facilities: Very complete! There's even a mini-fridge in the room, which is super practical. The bathroom facilities are also great and clean. Cleanliness: Very clean, very clean, very clean (can't emphasize enough!) Environment: The environment is also very good, and they even upgraded my room for free~ Service: First-class service, the front desk staff were very patient, and there's occasionally a Chinese-speaking front desk staff member popping up, haha. This trip to Kyoto, this hotel was truly satisfying, especially after the autumn foliage season – the value for money was incredible. It was very comfortable for one person, and I don't think it would be too cramped for two. The room is small but has everything you need. It's really, really clean and very safe. Toiletries can be self-service, and the quality is excellent. Also, getting around from here is convenient. There's a bus stop right outside, and it's not far to Shijo Kawaramachi, Kamo River, and Kiyomizu-dera. There's also a direct bus to Kinkaku-ji. If you don't have too much luggage, walking to Kyoto Station isn't a problem, it's not far. There's a 7-Eleven and a Fresco supermarket nearby, and opposite the 7-Eleven is a Nakau, which I think is open very late or 24/7, I forget. Oh! The hotel also has an ice machine and a microwave, which is really nice.

The room was on the smaller side, but it was perfectly equipped. We booked a triple room, and it was just right for our needs. The hotel's location in Gojo is significantly quieter than Shijo, and its residential setting provided a very comfortable and pleasant atmosphere. It's conveniently located near Gojo subway station. We easily walked to Shijo and Kyoto Station, and Kamo River was also within easy reach. There's a Mini Stop convenience store right downstairs, which was very handy for picking up essentials. The self check-in and check-out system was incredibly convenient. Both the main entrance and room doors used keypad codes, which meant no fuss with key cards. Overall, we were extremely satisfied with our stay. It was quiet, clean, and the location was very good.

This was our third stay at Agora Hotel Shijo Kyoto, and once again, it did not disappoint. The location is absolutely perfect—right in the heart of the city, making it easy to explore Kyoto’s highlights. Our room was spacious enough to comfortably fit two large suitcases, with plenty of space left to move around freely. The amenities provided were more than sufficient for a comfortable stay. We also appreciated the refreshing welcome drinks upon arrival, which was a nice touch after a long day of travel. Overall, a consistently great experience and we look forward to staying here again.

I had a great stay at Agora Kyoto Karasuma. The hotel has a calm, elegant atmosphere, and the rooms are thoughtfully designed with a minimalist Japanese style that feels both modern and cozy. The location is perfect, close to transportation, shops, and great local restaurants, which made getting around Kyoto very convenient. The staff were kind, welcoming, and always ready to help with anything I needed. Their hospitality made the experience even better. Overall, it was a wonderful stay, and I would definitely choose Agora Kyoto Karasuma again on my next visit to Kyoto.

There’s no water in the room, no drinking fountain. And the only vending machine that sells water requires a Japanese mobile app, which is not even available on US App Store. I had to go out at 1am to the convenience store outside just to get water. Need some work here.

GGuest UserThe room was quite spacious, about 20 square meters, so there was plenty of space to lay out luggage without any worries. The bathroom was also a good size with a separate wet and dry area. However, I didn't use the shower there as I went to the large public bath on the 9th floor instead. Soaking in it was a great way to relieve the fatigue of a day of travel. The hotel is conveniently located right next to a bus stop, offering easy access to places like the National Museum, Ichiran Ramen (Shijo branch), and Shinshindo Bakery (Shijo branch).

XXingfudeyanyanI was extremely satisfied with my stay this time. The room was prepared exactly as I requested, which I really appreciated. My room included executive lounge access, offering snacks, drinks, coffee, tea, and alcohol – a great place to sit and relax. The room facilities were meticulously maintained, and all appliances were quiet. My only minor complaint was the hairdryer, which was a bit old-fashioned and took a long time to dry my hair. The hotel staff, including the front desk and shuttle service, were exceptionally professional, very considerate, and provided excellent, personalized service. The shuttle bus stop at Kyoto Station is located behind the station, near the Hachijo East Exit, in the area where taxis and buses pick up passengers. It runs conveniently from 8 AM to 8:30 PM. You can see the exact location in my last two photos.

IiamnotdelicateThe basic room type isn't in the main building; you have to walk up to the main building each time to have breakfast or soak in the onsen (hot spring). And it's not a real onsen; my friend's superior room was the real onsen. We were given a small room at the back of the hotel, but thankfully there weren't too many graves. When I asked the staff at the entrance to take photos for me, they were very reluctant and had a sour face. At night, on my way back to my room from my friend's, the receptionist on duty in the lobby was also very rude. Overall, I was dissatisfied with the service. The facilities are excellent, very new, and the hotel is quite small, but that's typical for Japanese hotels. The decor is also very nice; the aesthetics are on point. There are at least three cemeteries and a bunch of shrines nearby; bring some amulets if you like.

JJiudianshoucangjiaJackThis hotel really captures the essence of Kyoto. There's a small garden in the inner courtyard, and the hidden door designs between different sections of the hotel are quite interesting and uniquely Japanese. The hotel has a lounge offering coffee, tea, and snacks, and you can also try out little games like origami. The tableware in both the lounge and the rooms is very refined and distinctly Japanese. The hotel also has its own onsen (hot spring bath) that guests can use for free, and it stays open quite late. Breakfast is good, a combination of Japanese and Western buffet styles. Plus, the hotel is very close to Kiyomizu-dera Temple, within walking distance.

JJulianvaThe location is very good near Kyoto Station. The hotel is small but modern and clean. They made me wait two hours to check in, but that's the rules; I already knew beforehand. They also allowed me to leave my bags while I went to lunch and waited to enter. The room is small, but like all in Japan, it's a standard room that meets everything you need for a good stay. It's clean, modern, and tidy. For one person, that's fine; for two people with large suitcases, the space is very tight. For the price, location, and facilities, the hotel is highly recommended.

GGuest UserTo start with the positives, the hotel was well located and easily accessible using the metro from Kyoto station. The room was a decent enough size and the staff were friendly and helpful. One major issue we encountered during our stay was the level of humidity in the room. The extractor fan didn't seem to be doing anything to impact moisture in the room, particularly after a warm shower. There was some treated glass above the sink and often this was the only area without moisture well over half an hour after having a shower. (Photos attached) This also meant that towels weren't drying correctly and created an unpleasant environment and ultimately odour in the room. The humidity was so high that the windows were dripping with water consistently and the window sill was actually wet. Additionally the absence of a full wardrobe (just a rail with hangers on) also created challenges when staying for longer than a couple of days and this combined with the humidity made the washing machine almost obsolete.

GGuest UserHaving staff at the front desk who could speak Chinese made things so much easier. The location is excellent, very close to Shijo, making getting around incredibly convenient. We also found it to be surprisingly quiet, despite the central location (and a fun little extra: the claw machine at the FamilyMart next door was surprisingly easy to win!). While the room was a little on the small side, the tatami room offered a fresh and exciting experience for the kids. Considering it was summer vacation, the price was acceptable.

ГГряникThank you very much, we really enjoyed our stay with you! Your townhouse was very cozy and fully equipped. Comfortable house clothes, robes and slippers for any occasion (for the street, balcony, toilet and home) made our stay comfortable. The beds, although on the floor, were very comfortable. The mats felt nice and warm. The bathroom with wooden trim looks unusual and stylish. The small rock garden adds a nice accent. The Japanese-style breakfast was an interesting experience, especially the process of making soup yourself. The code entry on the door was very convenient. Thank you!

GGuest UserLocation: About a 10-minute walk from Kyoto Station, which is a great spot (especially since there's a direct airport line from Osaka Kansai Airport). Cleanliness: Very clean, with bidets everywhere – very comfortable. I really like Japan's integrated bathrooms. Facilities: Quite new, and the screen mirroring feature was a pleasant surprise. Comfort: If there are two of you, I'd recommend booking a twin room. Japanese double beds are a bit cramped. It's small but has everything you need, though overall still a bit tight. The design is quite user-friendly, and there are bedside lamps. Service: Japanese hotels are usually known for their excellent service, but not here at all. 1. Check-in and check-out are entirely self-service (I'm not sure what the four or five staff members at the front desk are actually doing – no wonder Japan has good employment figures and no 'rat race'). 2. This time I left something at the hotel. Online messages and email replies took several hours, and no one answered the phone (it reminded me of Mu Xin's poem, 'In the old days, the days passed slowly; carriages, horses, and mail were all slow; a lifetime was only long enough to love one person.' Tsk, tsk, tsk).

MMagmagcuExcellent location just 3 minutes walking distance from Kyoto Station. You can get all toiletries amenities from the lobby, free flow of coffee, tea and soft drinks within a period of time. The room is normal Japanese size, enough for two people but cannot open both 20 inches suitcases at the same time. Cleanliness nothing more to say at this room rate. There has laundry area with few washing machine and dryer but the machine only accept electronic payment , they don’t accept cash and credit card which is reslly not user-friendly for tourists. When I seek the front desk assistance, they told me to go to laundry shop which is 8 mins walking distance. Not far away but we need to carry all the way back and forth. What’s the point of providing laundry service????
