sj91this hotel is good overall, but when we arrived, they told us that we didn't have a booking with them and they couldn't locate our booking and details. the room was also said to be taken, and they are waiting for a cancellation in order to get our room. There is a lot of confusion among staff. some visitors were told to leave their rooms once they have entered. we waiting 1 hr 30 min to get our room. so check in was at 4.30pm. parking was also very inconvenient, as we had to park at the basement, which was impossible to even get one if you came into the hotel late and a T&G card was also needed to get validated before leaving the hotel if we wanted a free spot. Room was very spacious and clean. the tea and coffee was hard like its never been changed.

Guest UserWe were a family of five, including two adults, two elderly family members, and a 4-year-old boy, and stayed at JEN Penang for two nights.
The hotel is in a very convenient location, with shopping malls and many well-known local restaurants within a 5 to 10-minute walking distance. However, due to Penang's hot and humid weather, I would not recommend walking outdoors between 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
The staff were friendly and welcoming throughout our stay. Breakfast offered a reasonable variety of options and was sufficient for a pleasant start to the day.
The hotel has a swimming pool, although it is relatively small. One side of the pool, which accounts for about one-third of its size, has a depth of 2 metres. As a result, the usable space for younger swimmers is somewhat limited, and the pool can feel crowded during the afternoon. There is also a separate children's pool, which is suitable for toddlers aged around 2 to 3 years old.
While the hotel generally met our expectations, it does feel a little dated in some areas. We also encountered some cleanliness issues in our bathroom, which was disappointing and not quite what we expected from a property under the Shangri-La Group.
In addition, it would be a nice touch if children's amenities could be provided proactively at check-in for families travelling with young children, rather than requiring guests to request them separately.
Overall, the hotel's excellent location, friendly service, and family-friendly facilities make it a good choice for exploring George Town and Penang. With some improvements to housekeeping standards and family amenities, the guest experience could be even better.

RachelCyOverall, I had a pleasant stay and a good experience. The staff were all very polite, friendly, and helpful, which made us feel welcome throughout our stay.
The hotel itself is a little dated, and some areas could benefit from better maintenance. The tiles underneath the sink were cracked and looked as though they might come loose, which was a bit concerning. There were also some marks and stains around the sink area. They may simply be due to age or water stains, but they gave the bathroom a less clean appearance.
One thing that concerned me was the presence of Charlie ants (rove beetles). We noticed them outside the room, and there were also quite a few in the steam room. Although the hotel has placed notices to warn guests about them, they are extremely small and difficult to spot unless you look very carefully. Since contact with them can cause skin irritation, it was a little worrying.
Overall, the staff provided excellent service, and we enjoyed our stay. I hope the hotel can improve the maintenance of the facilities and continue taking measures to reduce the presence of Charlie ants, as these improvements would make the experience even better.

Guest UserWe chose The Lone Pine Hotel to celebrate our wedding anniversary. I was worried that arriving too late on the first day would spoil the romantic vibe, but the hotel was incredibly accommodating. They proactively arranged for our cake and gifts to be delivered the next morning, allowing us to enjoy them leisurely – this thoughtful detail was a huge plus.
As for the view, we were lucky enough to be upgraded to a sea-view room. The endless blue ocean outside the window offered a superb vista. Even more surprising was that I had only booked breakfast for the first day because we had an early start on the second. Yet, the hotel upgraded our second day's breakfast for free – so incredibly considerate!
The food was the major highlight of this trip: I highly recommend the fried chicken at the breakfast buffet; it's crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, usually gone before 11 AM. After 10 AM, there's also an outdoor Welcome Drink by the pool, and the adjacent Barbecue area offers amazing fried kway teow and roti canai. The overall dining atmosphere was very chill.
The location is also very convenient, just a few minutes' walk to late-night snack stalls and the beach torch performance. Finally, I must praise the nighttime experience – many might mind the sound of the waves, but I absolutely love falling asleep to them; it's incredibly therapeutic and relaxing. It's basically a place where you can just unwind for a couple of days 🎶.
One small suggestion: The hotel could perhaps optimize the color scheme of its lighting.
Overall, I highly recommend this hotel to anyone who loves a slow pace and a seaside getaway! 🌊🍗

Anonymous UserOur overall experience during this stay was extremely satisfying. The hotel boasts a beautiful environment, facing the sea with stunning views, especially the infinity pool and ocean scenery which are perfect for photos. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable, and the bed was very good, allowing us to truly relax.
The hotel is ideal for families with children; our little one had a great time. The pool and beach are both very convenient, and you could easily spend the whole day there without getting bored. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and both check-in and check-out were smooth. The breakfast offered a wide variety of choices and tasted good.
If you're looking for a relaxing getaway, this is an excellent choice. My only small suggestion is that the pool can get quite crowded during peak season, so I hope they can add more loungers in the future. Overall, I would recommend it to friends and would stay here again.

I just stayed for one night. Which was enough for me.
Be aware this is not part of the official Rainbow Resort Hotel. Upon seeing my confirmation, the receptionist told me my room was an Airbnb. The building is a hotel as well private rooms that are rented out.
The room itself was very spacious, 70 sqm with one bedroom and a living space. It had obviously been repainted recently (it smelt a fresh paint) so the walls were clean. Air conditioning and basic amenities were provided.
The building itself, has seen a lot of wear and tear. If you’re on a budget and want a spacious room it will meet your needs.
For the price I think it’s quite reasonable if you’re there for a short stay.
The hotel is next to a beach, and a swimming pool downstairs. There a few restaurants across the road.

Guest UserOur last hotel in Penang was in Batu Ferringhi. The hotel isn't very large, and the room facilities are a bit dated, but the experience was excellent! First, the resort layout is well-designed; despite its size, the areas are cleverly arranged, creating beautiful views at every turn. There are several swimming pools, including two for children with slides and more. Most importantly, there are staff members consistently present at the slides and by the pools to supervise and maintain order, ensuring children can play safely and securely! Breakfast was also great; although there was a queue during peak hours, the food was delicious and offered a wide variety. The beach bar also had good food, and it was lovely to relax there with the lights on at night.
The best part is that the hotel has direct access to the beach and the sea! And the path from the hotel to the sea looks absolutely beautiful when lit up at night.
We booked a two-story family room with a lovely balcony. The staff service was also excellent. I'm giving it five stars.

MafushiwaludaohedinuoI really, really love the city of Penang and feel it's worth exploring in more depth. This was the last hotel we stayed at before leaving Penang. I spent a long time choosing it on Trip.com. Although its location isn't in the center of George Town, it's still convenient to get around with Grab. I really liked the overall environment. From check-in to the room facilities, everything was great – spacious rooms, good interior layout, pleasant surroundings, and a pool with a fantastic view. The rooms even had hot and cold water dispensers, which was very convenient! With such a great experience up to that point, I never expected to be let down by breakfast before check-out. After ordering, we waited for the 'first' hour, which messed up my plans to go swimming. Then we continued waiting for the 'second' hour… we might even miss our flight. This is truly outrageous and a complete waste of travelers' time!

Check-in at the hotel wasn't the fastest, but it's understandable because they took the time to clearly explain all the terms, conditions, and Wi-Fi details to guests, rather than just rushing through the check-in process. The hotel staff were all incredibly nice. They even enthusiastically invited us to watch the World Cup with them, which was a lovely gesture. I'd like to extend my thanks to all the staff through this review. It was a great experience, and I'll definitely come back to Penang and stay at OZO again.
