Staying at this guesthouse was one of the highlights of our entire trip to Zhangjiajie. We were traveling with our 4-year-old child, and the main purpose of our journey was to visit Zhangjiajie National Park — and this place made the experience absolutely unforgettable. From the very beginning, the service was exceptional. The atmosphere feels warm, welcoming, and genuinely family-like. You are treated not just as a guest, but as a truly valued part of the household. Since we were traveling with a child, we were kindly offered a two-bedroom apartment — an incredible gesture that made our stay exceptionally comfortable. The sleep quality deserves special praise: the bedding, pillows, and blankets are all of the highest standard. You sink into sleep as if you were staying in a top luxury hotel. The interior is beautifully designed — a tasteful blend of East and West, with great attention to detail. Everything, from the bathroom fixtures to the toiletries, is carefully chosen and of excellent quality. The staff’s kindness and care deserve a separate mention. Our “auntie” was available for us at any moment through a private WeChat group, ready to help with anything we needed. Breakfast was freshly prepared every morning, and the chef is simply outstanding. All meals are Chinese cuisine, cooked with love, and always adapted to our child’s preferences. We ended up having dinner at the guesthouse every night because it felt like home-cooked comfort food. The location is another huge advantage — only a 5-minute drive to the Southeast Gate of Zhangjiajie National Park, which is the most convenient entrance with the best choice of routes. The guesthouse provided transfers to the park and also arranged our pick-up from the airport in advance. The property has 17 rooms of different sizes — one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments, some with terraces overlooking spectacular scenery. The guesthouse is set in a peaceful and picturesque area where you can take short walks, observe local village life, and enjoy stunning views from every angle. Overall, this place made our trip truly special. It combines comfort, warmth, thoughtful service, and a perfect location. We wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone visiting Zhangjiajie — you will feel at home, cared for, and surrounded by beauty. This hotel is absolutely fantastic! The front desk staff were incredibly warm and welcoming. Breakfast was abundant and delicious. I especially want to commend Ms. Qu Xianlin, a server in the restaurant, for her exceptionally thoughtful and enthusiastic service. She personally brought us coffee and fruit, which I found very touching. Thank you, staff of Sunshine Hotel! The bedding was comfortable, and the room was spacious and very clean. I'll definitely come back if I have the chance.

We chose this hotel primarily for its fantastic location, and in that regard it didn't disappoint. You can easily walk to the main park entrance, and taking a taxi to the South and East gates is just as quick and convenient. We also really appreciated the welcome at the train station and the transfer service — it was a nice, stress-free start to our stay. Unfortunately, the property itself falls short in a few key areas. The biggest downside is the housekeeping. The cleaning was very superficial, both in our room and in the common areas, which just didn't feel fresh. On top of that, the hotel is showing its age everywhere you look — worn-out equipment, scuffs on the walls, chips in the furniture, and general signs of wear and tear. It’s clear that a renovation is long overdue. If you’re just looking for a convenient place to sleep and won’t be spending much time indoors, it works. But if cleanliness and modern facilities are important to you, I’d look elsewhere until they update the place.

After a long search on Trip.com, I finally settled on this hotel, and it truly exceeded my expectations in terms of value for money. The lobby was spacious and bright as soon as I walked in. They even have a self-service check-in area for Trip.com VIPs, and the front desk staff were incredibly friendly and efficient. I was very pleased with the room – it was large, well-lit, and fully equipped. The in-room smart speaker (Xiao Du) was a fantastic touch, playing soft music that helped me drift off to sleep peacefully. The cleanliness was impeccable, and there was a subtle, pleasant fragrance. When I ran out of water, I contacted the butler, and a fresh supply was delivered immediately – the service was simply outstanding. The hotel restaurant served a delicious dinner at a reasonable price, with plenty of options to choose from, making for a very satisfying meal. What really stood out was its proximity to the ancient city. After dinner, it was just a few minutes' walk to Youhong Bridge in the heart of the ancient city. I even met an old lady selling flower wreaths. Strolling through the ancient city, wearing a locally woven flower wreath, was a truly delightful experience.

This hotel truly impressed us in every way. The service alone deserves 5+ stars. Miss Wendy (who is the front desk manager and looks like the only one who spoke English) was exceptional—friendly, attentive, and incredibly proactive. Wendy anticipated our needs, provided helpful local recommendations, allowed us to choose the room we preferred, and even helped us to select tickets to the national park without any hassle. The room had a fantastic view of the mountains, which made the stay feel very special. Breakfast was outstanding—easily a 10/10—with a wide selection and a beautiful view from the restaurant. The location is also a major plus: very close to the train station and extremely convenient for both the airport and train stations. As an added bonus, there is restaurants nearby, creating a lively and enjoyable atmosphere in the evenings. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Zhangjiajie. Because of the Wendy we extended our trip in this hotel for another week.

I brought my parents to Zhangjiajie for the May Day holiday and after some consideration, we chose Shawn. The experience was excellent. The location is great – convenient for dining and shopping, yet away from the bustling city center. There's a stream behind the hotel, and you can see Tianmen Mountain in the distance, offering a peaceful retreat amidst the activity. The hotel environment is lovely, with a Shawn-themed design and stylish decor. It's well-equipped with a gym, family-friendly facilities, a bar, and dining options. Upon check-in, we received a free room upgrade. The room was clean, the bedding spotless, and the orthopedic mattress was incredibly comfortable. We slept very well after two days of exploring Zhangjiajie. The butler service was exceptional. The manager, front desk, housekeeping, and engineering staff provided one-on-one service through a group chat, attending to every request promptly without being intrusive. It was a fantastic experience.

Staying here during a holiday, the noise from planes taking off and landing was incredibly loud and continued until 11:30 PM. On top of that, the soundproofing in the room was terrible. I could clearly hear people walking and dragging luggage upstairs, and since there's no elevator, the noise from suitcases being dragged down the stairs in the morning was especially jarring. From 11:30 PM to 6:30 AM, there was constant noise from people getting up and moving around, plus there was construction happening nearby. I barely got any sleep all night. I definitely wouldn't recommend this place for light sleepers who need peace and quiet. As for cleanliness, this is the only hotel I've ever stayed in where I didn't even feel like putting on makeup because everything was so dirty. The sink was grimy, the shelf next to it was dirty – it clearly hadn't been thoroughly cleaned in a long time. The baseboards and corners looked like they hadn't been cleaned in years, and the toilet bowl wasn't even wiped dry. The room layout was very impractical. It was already small, but half of it was awkwardly partitioned off as a tea room, making it difficult to even find space for luggage. The pebble-covered area was completely useless. Plus, there was a step by the bed at night, which felt quite unsafe. The only positive was that the owner was genuinely nice, offering airport pick-up and drop-off, and being generally friendly. However, I don't think this place is suitable to be run as a guesthouse.

Staying at Forest homestay was the best decision we could have made during our trip to China. The service was truly 5 star. The staff at the lodge are so kind, helpful and efficient. We got personalised itineraries each day that changed a lot based on the weather, which was quite mixed! I was very impressed by their efficiency and flexibility. Each day we were driven to and from the park gate (for free). Pickup was within a couple of mins of us messaging that we were ready to leave. All of the staff were wonderful, but Guo Pu was a standout from our trip. Not only did he cart us around and respond to any questions via WeChat within minutes, but he made sure we got the most out of our time there - he pulled fruit from fruit trees at the lodge for us to eat, showed us the various animals they keep onsite, and took photos of us at the sky mirror. He was really great at giving instructions for getting the best effects! (Photos attached) The room was superb - lots of great features like a heated air function in the shower that was helpful for drying off wet clothes after we got caught in a downpour. The room is a rustic style and there’s a few places that could do with a lick of paint and tidying up, but this added more to the rustic charm! The view really was incredible. The location of the lodge might first seem far from the action of the park, but trust me, this is a blessing in disguise! The park gets incredibly busy, especially around Yuanjiajie. The busyness really can ruin the natural beauty. Being close to the Westgate allows you to access the park from the most uncommon direction which is actually marvellous as it means you are less likely to get caught up in crowds and queues as you are travelling around the park in the opposite direction of the vast majority of the tourists. This really makes a difference and maximising the time that you have in the park. Because of the mixed weather, we ended up travelling most of the top sights in the park again on the single good weather day and this worked really well because of our direction of travel. The Westgate is much quieter and the surrounding area is much more peaceful than the busy area around the east gates. This allows you to really enjoy the peace and beauty of nature when you aren’t exploring the park. I would highly recommend staying here when you visit Zhangjiajie, and I’d like to thank all of the staff for such a magical and amazing time.

Harmona resort and spa hotel is amazing place for rest. Very comfortable, clean. Service is great. Daily cleaning. Personal is very polite. Resting here, we have really enjoyed. View is top beautiful. It is a little far from city, but it is worthy to stay here, landscape is unbelievable. Who is tired of city mess, it is ideal place for retreating.

We had an amazing time at this hotel. Staff member Rain was very helpful and very friendly. Our room was pretty big and beautiful. The wooden details and furniture and bets are great. The pool is truly amazing. There are two pools one of the pools is heated and has an insane view on the mountains, incredible! The food is also really great and tasty. It’s located on the west side of the avatar mountains, the hotel helped us to bring up to the entrance multiple times. Highly do recommend to stay here because of staff the location the beautiful villas and amazing pool. Breakfast is also really good. Highly recommend.
