This hotel is just very near to Kyoto station. Follow west exit Hachijio way, right turn. It located opposite the station, same row with Avanti but further down towards Aeon side.
Like the room very spacious where we can open both of our big luggage. Fridge also big and cool. Impress with its Nespresso machine. From my room can clearly see the train and Miyako City hotel. Will definitely stay again on my next trip.
As a solo traveller I was surprised it is actually a love hotel which I did not pay attention when booking. It does not matter though. Very good condition and big space. Good breakfast included. It is also very nice having a massage chair.
It is over 1km from train station which is slightly inconvenient from people with large luggage.
I did see a 1cm long bug on my pillow on the second day but I would think it is accidental considering the general cleanness is significantly better than most other hotels I stayed.

This was my second stay, and it was just as clean and comfortable as before. Though, I'm not sure why there was no Oden for breakfast this time.
What I love most is the hotel's location. It's right next to Kyoto Station, yet surprisingly quiet, and also very close to the 206 bus stop, which takes you directly to attractions like Kiyomizu-dera Temple.
After a long day of sightseeing, a soak in the bath on the 10th floor is incredibly relaxing. We rented kimonos and chose to return them at the hotel; the front desk was very helpful in taking care of them, so the service was excellent.
You can also rent curling irons, but a 3000 JPY cash deposit is required.

For a Japanese hotel, the room was surprisingly spacious. It's conveniently located near Kiyomizu-Gojo train station and Gojo-zaka bus stop. While the breakfast selection wasn't huge, they did offer freshly prepared egg dishes. The hotel's decor is lovely, and there's a bar upstairs. Bicycle rentals are also available. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I noticed a lot of international guests staying here.

This was our favourite hotel from our whole trip (Tokyo,Kyoto, Osaka). It felt traditional but modern and very clean with no shoes allowed inside. It was great having a separate space for the parents in the room and it came complete with all the amenities. It’s close to the station, onsen and the best massage chair we’ve ever used on site to relax after a full day of exploring and had unlimited icecream/ yakult/ drinks plus ramen too. Will definitely book this again for future trips.
The room is big and it has all the amenities eg. TV, Big bed, jacuzzi, well equipped toilet, etc. All the toiletries are beyond our needs. Movies are free and breakfast are really cheap. The only drawback is the nearest metro station is 1 km away. But the room is value for money. Highly recommended.

Potel Umokoji Kyoto redefines what a hotel offers its guests. Firstly, the location is unique, an easy 5 min walk from the station ( Umokoji Kyotonishi) and 3 min train ride to the center of Kyoto. Yet this convenience is coupled with its location adjoining a large wooded park which some guest rooms overlook - a special and calm outlook right in the city centre.
Rooms are large by Japan standards and both the Japanese style rooms ( super comfy ) and more traditional Western styled rooms offer a Scandanavian/ Japanese decor style which is both modern and uncluttered.
In addition, guest services on offer include complementary DIY fresh brewed coffee and in the evenings, complimentary beer, wine and soft drinks . Can be taken either to your room with balcony overlooking parklands or in the guest book or music library, both offering a calm respite from a sometimes frenetic Kyoto CBD.
Unique, special and largely overlooked by tourist group bookings, the Potel Umokoji manages to offer the ambience and guest experiences that many mass tourism venues have lost. Try it, you won't be disappointed.
This is my favorite hotel thus far across the 5 hotels I've stayed in Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka. It gives you the ”zen” feeling and services are great.
We booked the room without breakfast, but the grab and go (bread, waffles, milk, tea, coffee, etc.) they provided are already sufficient for a quick breakfast before travelling around.
I personally also like the smell of the shampoo and conditioner they gave (light tea smell).

This is an excellent hotel! While it's a bit pricey, the service and quality of the stay are absolutely worth it. The front desk staff were all incredibly friendly during check-in and even upgraded our room. We had a fantastic view of the sports ground, and the room itself was spacious. The bathroom with its wet/dry separation was very comfortable overall. Breakfast was also a pleasant surprise. Although the Western breakfast only offered one main dish, it tasted great. The buffet section had fresh squeezed juice and a good variety of salads. My only complaint was the lack of meat; it was all vegetarian. The only meat options were smoked meats like bacon and eggs. I also tried the Japanese breakfast one morning, and it was equally exquisite. Each small dish even had a label indicating the origin of its ingredients. In short, the breakfast presentation was 10/10. One thing to note is that there were hardly any Asian faces; about 90% of the guests were from Europe, America, or the Middle East. Additionally, the hotel has an exclusive lounge for guests with a good selection of drinks and mainly rice cracker snacks that go well with alcohol. Most importantly, the location is super convenient. It's within walking distance to attractions like Kamo River and incredibly close to Shijo shopping street. Everything for shopping and sightseeing is within walking distance. I'll definitely stay here again!

This place is AMAZING for its price point. Everything is sparkling clean and quite new. The location is amazing as it is just next to the metro station. It is also quite close to the bus station and that's important as buses are way more convenient than trains in Kyoto. For food, there are cheap franchised restaurants around and 7-eleven right opposite. In terms of service, the staff there are friendly, polite, and accommodating. The shared bathrooms and the bedrooms are clean. There is nothing more I could ask for! AMAZING STAY.
