Romantic Hotels in Kyoto Prefecture, Japan

Miyoko Hotel is very accessible to those travelling by train. It’s right opposite to the Hajijo entrance, a 2 minutes walk to the station. The hotel is basic but very efficient in checking in and out as it’s all done through machines. The rooms are pretty small (as most hotels are). For 3 people, it can be a bit crowded. The third bed is a sofa bed. The mattress was very uncomfortable as it was a worn out spring mattress. When we raised our concern, they gave a foam sheet to put on top, which was a better situation but not very comfortable. The place can be a bit cramped and it’s hard to use the table provided. The bathrooms are not too big but sufficient. All the amenities are provided. The price was a bit steep and it came down by 23$ per night right after I checked in, which was a bit of a disappointment 😂 I would highly recommend this hotel if you want most convenience with not much luxury.

I had a great stay at Agora Kyoto Karasuma. The hotel has a calm, elegant atmosphere, and the rooms are thoughtfully designed with a minimalist Japanese style that feels both modern and cozy. The location is perfect, close to transportation, shops, and great local restaurants, which made getting around Kyoto very convenient. The staff were kind, welcoming, and always ready to help with anything I needed. Their hospitality made the experience even better. Overall, it was a wonderful stay, and I would definitely choose Agora Kyoto Karasuma again on my next visit to Kyoto.

The kids absolutely loved it! You have to store your shoes upon check-in, which adds a nice touch of ritual. The hot springs♨️ were better than expected; even though it was crowded, there was a great variety of pools, about 5-6, including some semi-outdoor ones. The onsen experience was truly delightful. The ice pops and ramen were an added bonus – it was quite funny seeing everyone line up for the ramen. It's right next to Kyoto subway station, so it's a great option for your arrival or final days. You can also walk to Higashi Hongan-ji and Sanjusangen-do from here.

I really like this hotel; it's a quiet oasis in a bustling area. The transportation is very convenient, and there are plenty of restaurants nearby. There's a noodle shop right behind the hotel that always has a long line. To the left of the noodle shop, across the street, there's a drugstore where you can park your husband at the hotel and shop to your heart's content. You can find almost anything that's out of stock on Xiaohongshu there. The room was much larger than the ones I stayed in Osaka, and it even had a microwave and a washing machine, so you could have breakfast right in your room. However, I definitely don't recommend the hotel's breakfast; for over 100 RMB, you just get scrambled eggs, and the taste is questionable.

Great location, but a bit too lively. The facilities are brand new. The service was pretty standard – polite but not particularly warm or enthusiastic, which was a stark contrast to the Okura Hotel I stayed at later. Oh, and the second morning, the sun came out for breakfast! Eating outdoors with a warm sun on your face and a view of Higashiyama was absolutely fantastic! 👍👍👍

This hotel boasts an excellent location, being just a block away from the base of Kiyomizu-dera Temple. Gion is also easily accessible with about a 20-minute walk. The hotel is immaculately clean, and the soundproofing is superb; even with a live band playing in the lobby, we couldn't hear any noise from our room. The staff were all incredibly courteous and polite. Breakfast is a combination of à la carte and buffet, and the Western breakfast options were quite good. Overall, a fantastic experience.

The rooms are decent. There's a communal bath, which is kind of like a hot spring, though the water is just regular tap water – it was clean and hygienic. On the second floor, there's a ping-pong table, an all-you-can-drink bar, and a small kids' play area. It feels like a friendly little community. The staff are all polite and attentive. There's an aquarium very close by, and the hotel has a back entrance for direct access. We didn't realize this until we walked all the way around in the rain! There's a surface parking lot if you drive, costing 2500 yen per day for unlimited use, but the small road leading in can be a bit tricky to find.

Hotel ALa in Kyoto was a delightful surprise during my trip. The pictures made it look quite ordinary, but upon checking in, I found it to be understated yet elegant. The hotel is conveniently located near the station, and there's a 7-Eleven right across the street with a great selection of beers. The miniature dry landscape gardens (Karesansui) on each floor were a pleasure to look at, and the natural hot spring, 'Gokou no Yu', was incredibly relaxing and free for guests to use. My room even had a small window view that was absolutely stunning when I opened the curtains in the morning. I highly recommend the sukiyaki at the hotel; the beef was tender and delicious, and the portion was generous. A lovely staff member even helped serve it, and the accompanying fruit was surprisingly good. I stayed for three nights, slept comfortably, and had a wonderful time. Many thanks to the entire hotel team; their hard work made my sightseeing experience even more enjoyable.

I brought my parents to Kyoto and we stayed at this hotel. The triple room was incredibly spacious, much larger than the double rooms I've stayed in before. It was clean and tidy, with excellent hygiene. The private onsen comes highly recommended! My parents also had a fantastic stay. All in all, it's a perfect score! Service: Check-in was at 3 PM, and the front desk service was thoughtful and thorough. They explained the hotel facilities very clearly. (If you don't speak Japanese, there are staff who speak English.) Facilities: It's a very traditional Japanese-style room, which my parents loved. The public bathing area was also very clean, and the private onsen was super comfortable. The hotel signage was clear, and every detail was meticulously thought out – really impressive! Breakfast: The buffet breakfast offered a wide and diverse selection, with both Western and Japanese options, and plenty of delicious desserts! We were absolutely stuffed~

The room was spotless and well-equipped, though the space was quite limited. The staff were truly considerate; I wasn't sure how to sort the fruit, yogurt, and instant noodle packaging from my child's meal, and a hotel employee simply handed me a trash bag and offered to take care of it. For breakfast at the restaurant, the steak was my favorite, and my child enjoyed it too.
