I booked this hotel primarily for its location. The actual route was much simpler than what Google Maps suggested; we followed a previous reviewer's advice: take the JR West Exit/Sakurabashi Exit, cross the road, walk past 7-Eleven, and it's straight ahead – no need for the convoluted route Google Maps suggested. It's also very convenient for the airport, with the bus terminal just a 5-minute walk away, saving you the hassle of lugging suitcases up and down stairs. However, Umeda Station is massive. While the hotel is right next to a subway entrance, some subway lines still require a good 10-15 minute walk to reach from their respective exits.
Now for the downsides. Despite the great location, if you happen to get a street-facing room, you can still hear the JR train noise (even on the 12th floor, which isn't particularly low). Light sleepers beware. There was also some dust in the room, especially on the blinds. The bathroom was quite small. And, somewhat strangely, booking a triple room for two people ended up being cheaper than a double room. Furthermore, bottled water isn't provided in the rooms; instead, there's a water dispenser and ice machine in the hallway on each floor, so you need to bring your own bottle to fill up.
Overall, it's acceptable for a one-night stay, and the breakfast was decent. However, if the price is too high, it definitely isn't worth the cost.

We got the twin bed room. Spacious enough since we learnt from our last trip to Japan to not stay in a hotel that has a room size of 13m2. Bathroom was comfortable. Good water pressure. Tap water is drinkable. Auto Bidet toilet. Tv channel sucks since there’s not much international choice or cable, but heck, you shouldn’t be in the room watching Tv if u are in Japan anyways so it doesn’t bother us. Love the location. Friendly staff, 3 washer+dryer units. Each cycle is about 2hours so be prepared to queue to wait for the previous wash to finish, otherwise someone will cut your queue and you have to wait another 2hours or so if there are no other available machines. Staff will help to remove clothes from previous user if requested. Bring your own bag for clean & dirty clothes and maybe something to indicate to the next person that you are standing in line if you decide to go away for a moment. Amenities like toothbrush, etc is at the hotel lpbby. There is a wide range; even has bath salts, a steamer etc. it’s quite a selection. Overall, we like the hotel.

This hotel is fantastic! It's incredibly convenient, located just 10 meters from Yotsubashi Subway Station, right outside Exit 2. Shinsaibashi and Dotonbori are only 1.2 km away, so you can easily walk there to explore the area by night. Plus, there's a supermarket right next door, which is very affordable and handy for grabbing essentials.
The hotel itself is spotlessly clean. While the rooms aren't huge, they are very well-equipped and even include a fridge, which is incredibly handy. On the second floor, there's a free hot and cold water dispenser, saving you from buying bottled water. They also have a microwave and an ice machine available for guests, which is super convenient for heating up meals or getting ice anytime.
They also offer luggage storage, which is a thoughtful touch.
I will definitely book this hotel again the next time I visit Osaka.

This place exceeded my expectations in terms of comfort and convenience. It was well-located, walking distance to attractions, which made getting around very easy. The room was tidy and had everything I needed for a relaxing stay. The atmosphere was peaceful, and the staff were friendly and helpful throughout.

Room is ok for two people and one big suitcase. Room is clean too, and they provide daily housekeeping service which is rare in Japan. The location is also prime, right in shinsaibashi area, metro is right in front of the hotel. There’s also an underground shopping street Namba Walk in front of the hotel. Combini is also nearby the hotel.

The location was excellent, conveniently situated near Dotonbori and just a few steps away from the iconic Glico Man billboard. Our family of three booked a room with two double beds. However, the room was dusty, and we noticed particles floating around, which caused my son to cough. The hotel has self-service laundry facilities on the 7th and 8th floors. We tried using them but felt that no washing detergent was added to the machines. Here is a catch- it is next to 7Eleven.
The hotel is conveniently located very close to the subway station. The lobby is upstairs, and there's a 7-Eleven right downstairs. The room is small; opening a 20-inch suitcase leaves barely any space. A relatively large table next to the bed is a nice feature, good for sitting or placing items. The hotel's amenities are a bit dated. The bathroom sink, being quite old, was stained and couldn't be cleaned thoroughly, and the bathtub had a similar issue. Despite this, the room was cleaned very thoroughly. Every morning, if you placed the 'make up room' sticker outside the door before leaving, the room would be spotless when you returned. They don't provide complimentary bottled water. There was a Chinese sign next to the bathroom tap indicating the water was safe to drink directly, but I never tried it. Overall, the hotel's location is excellent. It's a short walk to Shinsaibashi, making shopping and dining very convenient.

Lots of free amenities at the elevator (bath cream, toothpaste, etc.), and the staff were extremely attentive. Breakfast was varied and on rotation making for some tasty mornings. Room was a nice size with good facilities, but bath could’ve been bigger. 5-10 minutes from some local highlights of Kirip Truman, Garb Weeks, and the Tosahari River.
Clean room and bathroom with daily cleaning. 3 signs can be put up on the door: cleaning needed, cleaning not needed or do not disturb.
I didn't interact with the staff more than for check-in and checkout, but the reception is always manned and they greet you whenever you leave or come back to the hotel. Check-in and checkout both went well.
They've got regular amenities, the only things worth mentioning being no toiletries (like toothbrush, etc., just the single glass on the counter), but otherwise the bathroom is also well furnished. A small fridge and various explanations available in English as well made for a nice stay.
Location wise it's ideal for sightseeing, with it being right near Osaka Castle and the Museum of History as well as being a direct line from the aquarium on the western side. Only one change of metro is necessary from Shin-Osaka where the shinkansen will bring you if you're coming by train, for a trip or less than 30 minutes from the station. There's a konbini right at the corner with various restaurants filling the streets, including a Coco Ichiban curry, at least two okonomiyaki places and a French restaurant. They have breakfast available for an additional price, which I didn't test but didn't sound too bad for around 1,000 yen.
In short it's hard to find any actual flaw with this hotel if you're looking to visit Osaka during the day.
I recently had the pleasure of staying at the DoubleTree by Hilton near Kyoto Station, and it truly exceeded all my expectations! Among the two DoubleTree hotels in the city, this one’s close proximity to the station makes it incredibly appealing, and its modern appearance suggests it's one of the newer options available.
After a steaming hot walk from Kyoto Station—which is only about ten minutes if you know the way—I immediately fell in love with this hotel at first sight! The ambiance and aesthetic were so inviting that I impulsively decided to cancel my hotel booking in Osaka and extend my stay here—a little rebellious decision, but one I do not regret!
However, navigating from Kyoto Station to the hotel can be a bit of a challenge, much like maneuvering through a maze. It would be fantastic if the hotel could provide a clear guide for guests after booking so that everyone can easily find their way.
The interior design of the hotel beautifully blends Japanese elements, reflecting the charm and heritage of Kyoto. Walking through the lobby felt like stepping into a traditional Japanese art piece, perfectly in tune with the city's ancient spirit.
Convenience is another highlight! With a 7-11 right next door, it’s as easy as pie to grab a late-night snack. It’s almost like having a personal convenience store just a stone's throw away—perfect for satisfying those midnight cravings!
Moreover, the staff here are exceptionally trained and eager to assist. Every question was answered accurately, and the service was impressively speedy—truly a testament to their professionalism. To quote one staff member, “We aim to make every guest feel at home,” and they certainly lived up to that promise.
Although I didn’t get to try the breakfast during my stay, as I had early excursions planned to avoid the crowds, I’m already looking forward to tasting it on my next visit. If the rest of my experience is any indication, I have no doubt it will be delicious!
Overall, the DoubleTree by Hilton near Kyoto Station offers an incredible blend of comfort, convenience, and cultural richness. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone planning a visit to Kyoto!

GGuest UserThe location is excellent, just a 5-minute walk from Tenkachaya Station. There are many convenience stores nearby, as well as McDonald's, Muji, and Fujiya cake shops. Tenkachaya Station provides convenient access to both the Osaka Metro and Nankai Line, offering a direct route from Kansai Airport without any transfers. Additionally, there's Izumiya Supermarket, perfect for picking up local specialties. I even walked to Tennoji from here! The place is also incredibly clean and well-equipped. It offers exceptional value for money. I truly hope they maintain this level of cleanliness and hygiene; I'll definitely be back!
SSmileyMomoThe hotel is located directly above an Aeon supermarket, which is incredibly convenient for breakfast, late-night snacks, and general groceries. The Yotsubashi subway station entrance is right next to the supermarket, and Shinsaibashi Station is only about a 10-minute walk away.
They have coin-operated laundry machines, but there are only four, so you often have to queue up to use them in the evenings.
I especially loved the separate wet and dry areas in the bathroom. The toilet and shower/bath area are separated by a door, which made things much more efficient. What’s more, outside the bathtub, there’s a shower and a small stool, so if you’re not taking a bath, you can simply shower outside the tub.
I have to mention the bathroom’s drainage system – it’s superb! The water drains incredibly fast, which made showering a much more pleasant experience. The room was also spotlessly clean.
This hotel is perfect for independent travelers. The staff were incredibly polite, thank you.
Zzh3usThe trick to easily getting back is when at Shinsaibashi, when you see Ralph Lauren / Ralph Coffee, just turn and walk the street directly straight.
Theres a xenophonic restaurant that charges foreigners an extra fee just next to the '******' and Liqueur Mountain. Best to avoid that store.
Lots of food nearby, Chinese food, Vietnamese food, Thai Food, its all avaliable within a few minutes walk.
EEudaemoniaAlthough the room is small, the facilities are complete and it is very clean.
The bad thing is that the sound insulation is average. When guests from other rooms come back in the middle of the night, they can hear the doors and conversations clearly. The shower sound is also a bit loud.
If you have a limited budget and want to be closer to the city, this hotel is worth booking.
AAmarFromUKLocation:
Next to Bentencho station so easy access to Osaka loop line and Chuo Line for Subway and Rail. Really good location even though it's not central Osaka. The advantage is that you can still get everywhere within 10-20mins and the surrounding area is clean and safe and quiet.
There is a 7-11 next door and a commercial gym (charged at 1650 per day)
Negatives are there is not much to do in the evenings. But this leads to the quietness of the area and is an advantage
Hotel Room:
We stayed in double room and it was large. Nice comfortable bed with good pillows. The AC was modern and good and did not make noise even while we were asleep. The room is cleaned daily (tidy and new towels) with new sheets every 3 days. Shower gel, shampoo and conditioner provided. The room was also very clean. The bed has USB and chargers on either side of it. There is space to hang clothes
But the room is really nice. We always were glad to come back to a very clean and tidy place. The TV has English menus but we never watched anything.
Negatives are the fridge could be colder and the bathroom sink has a tiny slope on it so you cannot place product on the sink but you have a shelf above the sink for this. Very slight negatives for what is a great place to stay
Hotel features:
Excellent. Great laundry room with several washers & dryers. Trouser presses, vending machine and ice machine. A rooftop terrace with good views.
The breakfast is free and is underwhelming, just different bread and pastries with choices of juice, soups, water and yogurt. It's acceptable and I guess it's free.
The hotel lobby has little items you can take if needed, such as hair bands, toothbrushes, razor kits but something nice was that they give you bath bombs for free too. Different ones each day.
Staff:
Very friendly and helpful, even after midnight when I made requests they were very fast and helpful
Overview:
100% would stay here again. The price-to-quality ratio and the large room size make this an easy choice. Do not worry about location, I stayed it Dontonburi area before and alothgh its close to everything, its loud, dirty and feels unsafe. But the location of Porta Inn is really good and super easy to get to central areas (around 10-20mins) and easy to get to the airport (direct line) and easy to get to Universal Studios too.
GGuest UserNice, clean room at a good price. However the location is a little bit far from Dotonbori etc. and there is a bit of a walk to get to metro stations. Overall, very good value for money!
GGuest UserIf you love to sleep on a wooden plank this is your dream destination. My back suffered from the rock hard bed days after my visit. Other than that great and spacious capsules. Spotless showers and toilets that get cleaned multiple times throughout the day. Downside: reception is on the 2nd floor without lift, but rooms can be reached by elevator.
GGuest UserThe hotel is located right at Nagahoribashi Subway Station – step out and the entrance is immediately visible. It's also within easy walking distance to Shinsaibashi and Dotonbori, making its location absolutely superb. The only minor inconvenience was the room size; it felt quite compact, to the point where we had to block the entryway to fully open our 26-inch suitcase. However, despite this, the overall value for money is excellent, and I would definitely choose to stay here again on my next trip to Osaka.
Ggtr32Level 2 is the best as it is situated with the washing machine and ice maker. Breakfast was wonderful as there about 20 over different items, and taste was good. Location is very convenient to the sub station if travelling via public transportation, just need to look for Crysta shopping basement which will lead to the basement train station. There are many convenience store and eateries around this hotel. Standard amenities (toothpaste, toothbrush, shaver, hair dryer, hair iron, tea bag, kettle, fridge etc) were provided as well.
GGuest UserTLDR: Beware of excessive hidden charges for additional guests (JPY 5,000/night vs. normal rate JPY 1,500/night). Nice hotel with good location, but lacks transparency in pricing policies. Not recommended due to unreasonable extra charges.
I recently stayed here and had an unpleasant encounter. I made a mistake booking for 1 person instead of 2, and informed the front desk upon check-in to correct this. Rather than charging us the rate difference (about JPY 1,500 extra per night as shown on the hotel website for the same room type & period of dates), they demanded JPY 5,000 per night for the additional person - more than 3 times higher than the normal rate.
This pricing felt unfair considering we used the same room with no upgrades or additional services. The hotel only provides housekeeping every 3 days, so there was no extra cleaning to justify this excess charge.
When questioned about this significant price difference, the staff merely stated it was ”hotel policy” but could not show any written documentation or website information about these charges. This lack of transparency is concerning, as guests have no way to anticipate these excessive fees before arrival.
On the good side - the hotel itself is clean, stylish, hotel staff are friendly, and it's located near Osaka Station. However, be aware that basic amenities are lacking. Guests need to purchase their own water as the hotel does not provide bottles beyond the first day.
I feel like they took advantage of my booking mistake to charge extra money. While the hotel itself is decent, I cannot recommend it due to their hidden charges and unreasonable pricing policies.
Would I return? No - the management's approach to pricing and extra charges has permanently lost my trust.
