Good value for fair price. Good location, very close to tram and bus stations, If you're coming to Helsinki by plane, you can go directly to the hostel from the airporty by bus no 600. 24 hours market and cafes just nearby. Hostel offers you lot of activities, depends on day of the week. Overall it's clean, breakfasts are OK, staff at the reception is nice & helpfull, common things available here like i.e. luggage storage, free ear plugs and so on. My only con is - no curtains by the beds. If you have really bad luck, just as I had, you may draw a lower bed in dorm just by the door to the room. Every single person, just by opening the door, allows stream of bright light right into your face which is frustrating, especially in the middle of the night. A piece of cloth, just hanging along the bed could solve this issue and keep a minimum of privacy.

Nordic style, location is also good, very close to the train station, two stops from the airport

The location of the hostel is perfect—close to public transportation and the main tourist attractions in Helsinki. It was clean and calm. The bed has a curtain, a mirror, plugs, a lamp, and shelves. The hostel emails all the codes for the building and the hostel for easy check-in. There was no one at the reception when I arrived, but a welcome card was left with my room key. It was unacceptable that a low bed was not reserved for me. It was a nightmare to go to the upper bed.

Although the hotel is not big, the rooms are quiet and there are Chinese staff who will come back again

Senate Hotel, although basic, is situated well for local attractions - 10 minutes walk from the shops/ restaurants/nightlife of Helsinki city centre; 15 minutes walk from the harbour, if you arrive by ferry; and right next to Senate Square/Helsinki Cathedral. The hotel, itself, is based in an apartment building, on the fifth floor, and has ten rooms. There's a five-hour window, in which there's a receptionist to meet you (3-8pm). Outside of this time, you are given a code to enter the main door of the building, and then the front door of the hotel section, which I had to do. As it turned out, a friendly staff member was still there when I arrived, and I was fortunate enough to be given a free room upgrade. The double room I was given, was larger than average, and included a wash basin and small refrigerator. The bathroom and toilets are shared, but clean with a good, strong shower, and separate men's and women's toilets. There's also a small shared kitchen, so you could prepare food. My hotel room had a comfy bed, and good thick enough curtains which, if you're here in the height of Summer, means you won't be woken by the sunrise before 4am! The decor is a bit dated, but if you need info on what to do, where to go, and what's happening in Helsinki, there's lots of information. This is more of a short-stay hotel - a few days, at most, but if you need a well-located, warm, simple place to base yourself while in the city, this is actually a good choice.

The reception are very nice and helpful. The room is clean and comfy. There’s many useful things in the room. Nice location ~ only 200 meters to the bus stop.

It's great here! Everything else is more satisfying than expensive hotels! I live in a female dormitory with 6 beds. The room is well-lit and comfortable! It feels well maintained, the shower room is clean, and the staff is lively, waiting for 24 hours. It is difficult when there is a lot of luggage because there is no elevator!

I was worried about whether I could get into the room, but I was able to contact them using WhatsApp, which I installed in Japan. The room had a refrigerator, a water heater, cups, forks, etc. It was a convenient location.

Peaceful place, no noise from the traffic and otherwise also very quiet. Room had tv, refrigerator and a comfy chair beside the bed. What can I say? For this price I say this a steal. Also breakfast was very good. I fully recommend this at least for solo travelleres like I.
