I really need to complain about the cleanliness. This hotel had four pillows for two beds, and one of them actually had urine stains on it! It smelled strongly of urine. I went to the front desk to ask for a replacement, but it never came, so I just threw it on the floor – it was unusable! Also, the water quality at the hotel was really bad. I brought my own filter faucet, and the filter element ended up black. I'm so glad I used it!
They saw I was staying with a child for two nights, but didn't offer any extra slippers or toothbrushes, which other hotels usually do proactively.
Furthermore, our room was on the 7th floor, and it happened to be a Sunday. From 4 or 5 AM, there were prayers, which were extremely loud and made it impossible to sleep. I asked the front desk to change rooms, but they said all the suitable rooms were full and there was nothing they could do. In the end, we had to endure it for two nights. 😓
On the positive side, the hotel's buffet was quite good. There were also some local specialty snacks that I tried. And the swimming pool was an infinity pool with a nice view. However, it was mostly local children swimming, so the adults didn't go in. The gym was also very well-equipped.
It was very convenient and close to the largest shopping mall in Surabaya. Downstairs was also a pedestrian street. After dark, there were many places to eat, as well as cafes and bars. It was a nice area to explore.
Overall, it was barely acceptable, but some basic standards should be upheld. Urine stains on a pillow are simply unacceptable; it definitely means the pillowcase wasn't changed! I hope the hotel can improve.
I had an absolutely fantastic 3 nights here. From the second I was checked in by Mr Benny (thank you for your kindness and preparing me a list of sights and attractions for my first time in Surabaya), and the kindness of Miss Winda in housekeeping (always so kind and sweet and helping me).
The room and bed were so nice and comfortable.
Mr Benny and Miss Winda are really such an asset to this hotel, their customer service is beyond amazing

Westin Surabaya is a beautiful property with gorgeous views and amenities and impeccable service to match. The pool and surrounds are pleasant for swimming.
The Club room is very comfortable, quiet and feels fresh all round. The heavenly bed is such a delight to sleep in. The Club lounge is one of the most outstanding hotel lounges I have frequented. The views from the 39th floor are divine whether day or night. Service levels in the Club lounge are impeccable from each and every staff member.. so welcoming, professional with beautiful hospitality. Food selection, drinks and comfort all round. Nila and all of her lovely colleagues are truly at an inspiring level of excellence.
This was our second time staying at this hotel, and once again it exceeded our expectations in the best possible way. We arrived shortly after 12pm, fully prepared to leave our bags and wander around until the standard 3pm check-in time. To our pleasant surprise, the team offered us an early check-in without hesitation — a gesture that felt like an unexpected upgrade to our entire day. It’s the little things that truly make a big difference.
We stayed in a Standard Deluxe room, and it was more than spacious enough for the both of us. Comfortable, clean, and well-maintained, it provided exactly the kind of restful environment we needed. It’s always a good sign when you enter the room and immediately feel like you can take a nap without questioning your life choices.
Breakfast was another highlight of our stay. The spread was impressive, offering a good mix of local dishes, international options, and even Japanese selections. From savoury bites to sweet treats, there was something for every mood and every appetite. If breakfast is the “make or break” of a hotel stay, then this hotel definitely understood the assignment.
I would also like to give a special mention to Rusli at the reception. His warm hospitality and professionalism helped set the tone for our stay right from the moment we stepped in. Another heartfelt shout-out goes to Igrima from the restaurant. Although she is still a trainee, her dedication, attentiveness, and genuine passion for service shone through clearly. She handled her duties with the confidence of someone who has worked in the industry for years — a true rising star in the team.
Overall, our stay was memorable, comfortable, and pleasantly seamless. With consistent service and thoughtful touches like these, I’m confident that our third stay is not just likely — it’s inevitable. We’ll definitely be back again!
Great service from Front Office team, smooth check-in process and felt warm welcome by the team after hours of flight. Especially thanks to Franz from Concierge, he has been very friendly and passionate in sharing hotel facilities with us.
The property is a bit tiring but still keeping the high standard of JW brand.
Thank you JW Surabaya team!
Booked for my friend, she brings her husband and her daughter.
Her daughter very sureprised with their hospitality, every staff are welcome and give their big smile.
The pool and jacuzy was so good, the room quite comfort but she said the breakfast should be improve for the taste.

The hotel is located right in the heart of the city on the bustling Tunjungan Street, with restaurants, malls, and convenience stores all around – super convenient!
It's a century-old building with a lot of character, definitely worth taking some photos. The room itself is quite spacious, but the facilities are a bit dated. It doesn't affect usability, though. Being an old building, it naturally feels cool; even without AC at night, it was quite chilly. Also, the slippers provided have very thin soles, so I recommend bringing your own.
Service was excellent. We had to leave at 5:30 AM on our departure day, and after informing the front desk in advance, they kindly prepared breakfast boxes for us.
The room is quite spacious and offers a great city view. The Smart TV is available, but it only supports YouTube and Netflix, with no other streaming options.
The interior appears to need some refreshing, as there are visible signs of wear and tear on the wallpaper. The bathroom also requires more thorough cleaning; the bathtub water was yellowish, which was unpleasant.
Breakfast offers a wide variety of options, but the overall taste was average.
The hotel staff provided outstanding service. I was initially placed in a newly renovated Deluxe room that was full of mirrors, which I didn't care for. Manager Ms. Tasya immediately and efficiently handled my request for a room change, even escorting me personally to the new room. Separately, Chef Ms. Kurnia Fitri was also incredibly attentive; she introduced me to some authentic local Indonesian food, including a delicious chicken soup that I highly recommend.

GGuest UserThe rooms have all been renovated and everything is perfect. Even the hallways aren't outdated and feel clean. All facilities are well-maintained, including the swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna, and steam room. Only breakfast requires a bit of a wait because it's high season and many people are on staycation, but overall, it's good.

GGuest UserThe hotel's location is average for the area; it's a bit far from popular attractions, so you'll need to take a taxi or public transport. The room size is adequate, with enough space to move around comfortably even with luggage. The bedding comfort is just okay; some guests might find it a bit firm. The staff are generally calm and respond promptly when needed, but they lack proactive service. Overall, it has no outstanding advantages but also no significant drawbacks.

JjetlaggerAscott Waterplace Surabaya was a lovely stay. We were delighted with the room - quiet, clean, spacious with a well appointed kitchen. Water dispenser was nice as well as the washer/dryer. Nice view and comfortable bed.
Reception staff professional and welcoming at all times.
Cafe adjoining lobby has some nice drink and food treats at favourable prices.
Restaurant and breakfast options were fresh and sufficient with polite staff and plenty of available seating inside and out.
Pool and recreation areas were extensive and well maintained with facilities suited to all ages and abilities.
Only small gripe was that bathroom towels looking tired, in need of replacing and car park procedure could be more simplistic, otherwise a great stay and we look forward to another stay in near future.

AAnonymous UserNice and modern room with a very comfortable bed and pillows (the highlight of the stay). I especially liked the long daybed by the window. Breakfast was decent, and the pool has a nice atmosphere at night. Some minor maintenance to the pool flooring could be improved, but overall it was a very good stay.
