5-Star Hotels in East Java, Indonesia

To get a good night's rest before climbing Mount Bromo, I booked this hotel in downtown Surabaya. The hotel was inexpensive but offered standard five-star service and facilities. Before checking out, I visited the hotel's restaurant; compared to other eateries nearby, the food was tasty and affordable. The only minor drawback was that the staff's English proficiency was limited, making communication a bit difficult.

Batu has been one of my favorite destinations in Indonesia and this is mainly thanks to this hotel. The place was magnificent, the breakfast incredible but more than that all the staff were super nice and welcoming the servers, the cooks, the security, the room staff and the reception staff!!! Thank you very much for you’re kindness !😊

The stay at Double Tree Surabaya is fantastic. All the staffs are very welcoming and friendly. All of them will great you when seeing you. The breakfast serving in the restaurant is fantastic! Thousands types of varieties served! Please choose this hotel when you visit.

Warm, friendly staff who gave good and practical advice about the protests and safety, much appreciated . Housekeeping was impeccable and thoughtful and really prompt with adhoc requests.  Rooms are large (size norms from a different time) and the mix of analog vintage features and updated features is charming. Clear and strong WIFI , clean rooms especially for tropical setting The buffet spread is excellent quality, clean and a good mix of delicious local and international continental options.  The spa is lovely, though service can vary - I had a lovely therapist and my friend’s therapist was using her phone during the session (which is not acceptable at any massage place, what more at this spot) incongruous with the very high service and hospitality standards set by the rest of the staff. Would come back and stay here again!

Albeit being a bit dated, the service was very warm and the breakfast selection was awesome! Everyone had smiles on their faces and it was a very welcoming stay in the heart of the city.

Stayed at this hotel for 2 nights was a nice experience.. connected to the mall, easy to grab some food at there.. staffs was friendly and humble.. they also allowed me to enter the room before 3PM when the room is ready..

The Hotel have not been up grade since took over from HYATT. The table lamp is not working, chairs are dirty and upholstery are stained. TV is small and limited programs. Corridor carpet is dirty and the lamp shape is chipped. We love the Breakfast - wide selection , great food and serve in outdoor garden setting. 

Staying at Shangri-La Surabaya was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The service was warm and professional — every staff member went above and beyond to make sure we felt welcome and well taken care of. The room was spacious, clean, and elegantly furnished with a perfect balance of comfort and luxury. I especially appreciated the plush bedding and thoughtful amenities. The view from the room was also a plus, offering a peaceful cityscape that felt relaxing after a long day. Breakfast was a highlight — the variety was impressive, from local Indonesian favorites to Western and Asian dishes. The pool area and lush garden surroundings made it easy to forget you were in the middle of a busy city. Location-wise, it's conveniently close to malls, restaurants, and main roads, yet the hotel itself feels like a serene escape. Would definitely recommend Shangri-La Surabaya to anyone looking for a five-star experience with genuine hospitality.

I have nothing but praise for this hotel. It’s truly one of the best I’ve ever stayed in. The rooms were spotless and perfectly maintained, exuding a luxurious feel from the moment we stepped in. The beds were very comfortable as well and we had one of the best sleep here. Service was impeccable, with every staff member making us feel warmly welcomed and well taken care of. A standout highlight was the breakfast buffet, offering an impressive variety that catered to every taste. Our stay here was nothing short of wonderful, and we’re already looking forward to our next visit! Thank you so much, Westin Surabaya!

Everything good , spacious rooms, bed is comfortable, close to the attractions places. Definitely will come back if come to Surabaya
