The Hidden House(Chengdu Taikoo Li & Hejiangting))

This hotel is in a fantastic location, just a short walk to Taikoo Li and Jiuyan Bridge, making it incredibly convenient for getting around. The room was spotless, providing a very relaxing stay. The front desk staff were exceptionally helpful and attentive, always quick to assist with any issues – truly excellent service. The overall environment is quiet, a peaceful oasis in the heart of the city, ensuring a completely undisturbed night's rest. All the facilities worked perfectly for daily use. For a city center hotel, the value for money is outstanding. Staying here made my trip to Chengdu very easy and enjoyable. I'll definitely choose this hotel again on my next visit and highly recommend it to anyone visiting. The hotel's viewing platform directly faces the confluence of the two rivers, which is absolutely wonderful!

Meishan mindong Suyuan Hotel

9.4/10
Outstanding

Jinshui
We stayed in Meishan for a week for a sporting event. The hotel has clearly seen better days—especially compared to many newer properties in the area (aging lifts, worn carpets, etc.). We chose it mainly for three reasons: breakfast, gym/pool, and laundry facilities. 1. Breakfast The daily buffet was solid and met expectations. It featured a typical Chinese spread: hot stir-fried dishes, vegetables, meats, buns, dumplings, fried rice/noodles, porridge, plus a live station for dan dan noodles, eggs, and simple meats like sausage or ham. There was also a rotating Chinese dessert (e.g., red date with longan, green bean soup), along with some Western options like salad greens, yogurt, bread, cake, and fresh fruit. Since we stayed a full week, we appreciated the small variations. That said, we were surprised by the limited fruit selection—mainly oranges and watermelon—especially given the abundance of fresh fruit available locally. Breakfast vouchers are issued daily and must be presented before dining. 2. Gym & Pool This was the biggest disappointment. Both the gym and pool were completely closed, and the entire floor was gutted with no visible renovation activity. It looks like these facilities have been—and will be—out of service for quite some time. This was a major letdown, as it was one of the main reasons we chose this hotel. 3. Laundry There is only one washer and one dryer for the entire building. We were concerned about availability, but only had to wait once. The 15-minute wash cycle helps with turnover. However, the dryer takes a long time and unfortunately shrunk all my cotton clothing. I’d recommend partially drying cotton items and then air-drying them in your room. Package Perks We booked through Trip.com, which included a small daily package: a plate with two oranges and some snacks, complimentary coffee or tea in the lobby, and a free transfer to the high-speed rail station (must be booked at the front desk one day in advance). There were also canned sodas included, which we didn’t use. Room & Noise We were initially assigned a room facing the plaza, which was very noisy. After requesting a change, we were first told the hotel was sold out—but after some persistence, a park-facing room was “found.” This room was significantly better: quiet, bright, and pleasant, with birdsong in the morning. We were told these were actually an upgrade, and that road-facing rooms are even worse due to constant traffic noise. 4. Smart Room Features (“Xiao Du”) We did enjoy the smart room system—“Xiao Du,” which works similarly to Alexa. It can control the curtains, TV, room temperature, and lighting, which is a nice modern touch. However, it was also a bit frustrating at times—for example, it would automatically turn off the lights in the bathroom sink area. The lighting there is already quite dim and not ideal for doing makeup. It would be helpful if the hotel could improve lighting around the mirror (brighter bulbs would make a big difference), or even better, install a mirror by the writing desk near the window where there is natural light. Smoking Smoking is allowed in the hotel, and we did notice it in the lobby, elevators, and corridors. Thankfully, our room itself was fine. Housekeeping turns off the AC and opens windows when cleaning, which seems to help ventilate lingering smoke. Location & Surroundings The hotel is in a convenient area. A nearby park is lovely, with traditional structures and inscriptions related to the Su family. Within a short walk is a lively commercial plaza with restaurants, bubble tea shops, salons (I tried a newly opened nail salon), and more. Getting around via Didi is easy. Overall For the price, the hotel offers decent value. However, the closed fitness facilities were a major downside. If we return, we’d likely try a newer hotel—but this one works if you prioritize cost and location over amenities.

Vienna International Hotel

I stayed for two nights at the Vienna International Hotel (Jiuzhaigou Branch). Exploring the Jiuzhaigou Scenic Area is quite tiring, so all I wanted to do was lie down and rest when I got back to the hotel each day. The bathroom had good wet and dry separation, no strange odors, and excellent water pressure for the shower. Downstairs, there are many restaurants and small shops nearby, including the popular 'Laobing BBQ'. If you want a late-night snack, you can easily find something just by stepping out. The facilities are also well-maintained and relatively new, making for a comfortable stay.

Not bad, the facilities are quite complete. As soon as I entered the hotel, I was offered fruit tea. The only thing is that the elevator gets a lot of sun, and the room doesn't have a view of the atrium. However, the hotel's afternoon tea was pretty good, and they even provided snacks. My room also got upgraded. The only downside was that at breakfast, there were a lot of people with strong body odors.

A satisfying choice! The hotel's location is great, very close to places like Taikoo Li. You can easily get around by subway, bus, or bike. The facilities are relatively new, and the staff are all very enthusiastic. The breakfast variety is decent, and they also offer some local specialties. A special thanks to Lucky, who assisted me. Because we arrived early, Lucky coordinated for us to check in and rest sooner. On the day of check-in, it was very hot, and Lucky promptly brought us water, which was very thoughtful. The staff's service truly made for an excellent travel experience. Highly recommend!

My stay was absolutely fantastic! The hotel's location is excellent, making it super convenient for getting around and shopping. The room was spotlessly clean and fresh, with no unpleasant odors, and all the facilities were well-maintained. The bedding was soft and comfortable, ensuring a very peaceful night's sleep. The staff were warm, attentive, and responded promptly to any questions, always with a polite and gentle demeanor. The common areas were tidy, and the overall atmosphere was quiet and undisturbed. The value for money is definitely there, and you can really feel the thoughtful touches throughout. It's perfect for both tourists and short trips. I'll definitely choose this place again next time I'm in town. Highly recommended!

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The location is super convenient, within walking distance to Kuanzhai Alley, and there are tons of great food options like串串 (chuanchuan) and hotpot right behind it. Plus, there's a convenience store nearby. All in all, it's a very convenient place to stay! However, the cleanliness on the first day wasn't great, but after we talked to them, it was very clean from the second day onwards. Overall, it's still pretty good, and I'd choose to stay here again next time I'm in Chengdu.

Very nice hotel to stay for family vacation. 5-8 mins walk to Chun Xi Road. Lots of food option to choose near the hotel. The hotel buffet breakfast is nice with lots of variety to choose from. The hotel laundry service is excellent and all the staffs are very friendly and helpful. There are 5 dryers on top of 5 washing machines which is very convenient. Highly recommended for all travellers whose would like to visit Chengdu! 😊

The owner is incredibly welcoming, and the pick-up/drop-off service to Emei Mountain Station was excellent! They even helped us store our luggage. The hotel's location is fantastic, with plenty of restaurants downstairs and a supermarket nearby for easy shopping. It's also super convenient, about a 10-minute walk to the Huangwan Tourist Center. The bathroom features a dry and wet separation, and our family room was very spacious. They even provided welcome fruit and snacks. The soundproofing is great; it wasn't noisy at all. Breakfast was very plentiful, and they thoughtfully prepared zongzi for Dragon Boat Festival! Highly recommended!

The first thing I would like to mention is the attentive and friendly staff: reception, at breakfast, room cleaning - everyone was kind, friendly and helpful in everything. We got quick responses to our enquiries on Wechat - in the evening we asked about the use of appliances and a kind lady came and showed us how to use the washing machine and air conditioning. The girl at reception (unfortunately I didn't remember the name, but it's a very nice girl with glasses) always answered any questions we had. Also, she even remembered our parcels from Taobao ordered to the hotel and when she saw us, she told us they had arrived. And then helped us unpack them. You could really feel the care in all the actions. Next is a lovely big room with beautiful decor. The large round bed is cosy and soft and the bed linen is changed on request. Good housekeeping. Every day we had towels changed and bottles of water replenished. In addition, we could always get extra water in the lobby. And noticing that we leave the room later, they did not disturb us early in the morning. The room was quiet! Although there was one day when the tarmac was being laid at night outside with all the accompanying noise, but it really does not apply to the hotel. The air conditioning and fridge worked perfectly. We were pleased with the presence of a mini washing machine (laundry detergent is available and replenished) and steamer in the room - such is not often met in hotels. The hairdryer had good sufficient power. Sockets are universal. A bonus was a large mirror in the bathroom and a full-length mirror in the hall. Also on one of the days we were unexpectedly brought a plate of fruit in the room, it was very nice! The lift to the floors with hotel rooms is operated by guest cards, which guarantees more security. To name things that could be improved, it is a bit dim lighting in the room. Also the tap in the bathroom sink was tight and seemed a little unreliable. We had breakfast included - good, reasonably varied choice of food. The staff are friendly and keep a good eye on everything. They also remembered my preferences: I like to drink tea in the morning - and at one point they themselves came over and asked me if they could make me tea... so thoughtful! There is also afternoon tea with desserts in the lobby. Plus to the above, we like the location of the hotel - convenient, it's in an important central area with lots of shops, cafes, parks around, and metro stations close by. The only thing is, if you're with multiple suitcases, consider that the path itself from the metro is nice but uneven and runs along knobbly tiles and crowded narrow sections. Probably the best option with suitcases would be to take a taxi. Our stay all week was excellent. This is a hotel we would love to return to. Thank you!
