Pros: First of all the service I got from the receptionist was really good, she had someone carry my bags to the room and the location of the hotel is close to the airport which is very convenient for traveling after your stay.
Cons: The room had a strong smell of paint, it was so bad I couldn't even breathe as all the windows were closed upon my arrival.
The pillow cases in the bedroom didn't look clean to me I used my clothes to lay my face on because it was just nasty.
The shower is not convenient to use, it's too small and you cannot move the shower head to a desired position.
There was no fan or airconditioner in the bedroom, it was really hot.
The furniture is outdated, some couches with holes in them it's a mess
Overall, I will not sleep here ever again! The money charged is clearly just for being close to the airport because it is too much for that room.
The staff is amazing ❤️, the hotel is very clean and as well, the location is absolutely convenient, no need for uber to the airport, just 10 minutes walk inside the airport, however , there were no sleepers😩😩had to wear my sneakers after leaving a shower 🤣🤣 … no bottled water to drink as well😩was so thirsty at night… but i will definitely come back again ,it’s a beautiful hotel and safe as well.. I give it an 8/10 …. I highly recommend
The most complained thing is that they don't give bottled water, you can only buy water from vending machines. Review for OR Tambo Guest House
I recently stayed at OR Tambo Guest House for three nights and had a great experience. Since my flight arrived very late at night, the staff kindly suggested a driver to pick me up, which was incredibly thoughtful and made my arrival stress-free.
The guest house was impeccably clean (5/5), and the service was excellent (5/5) – the staff was friendly, accommodating, and attentive throughout my stay. The location was convenient (4/5), being close to the airport, though not much else is within walking distance.
The amenities were decent (4/5), offering all the basics I needed for a comfortable stay. While the aesthetic wasn’t my favorite (3/5), it didn’t take away from the overall experience. Breakfast had limited options, but I wasn’t upset about it – it was enough to start the day.
Overall, it’s an affordable place to stay, offering great value for the price. I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a clean and convenient spot near OR Tambo Airport.
I was transferring from Johannesburg to Shanghai when I called the service, and they ordered a taxi to pick me up. At first, my card was declining, but they were so patient until the payment went through. They were very kind, and the service was great. Every time I visit Johannesburg, I will be staying there. The apartment had two separate bedrooms, but I only used one, along with a kitchen and living room suitable for two families. I really enjoyed my stay.
Our stay here was nothing short of amazing!! It felt so safe and was super close to Mandela square and gautrain station
Also..the staff?? Super great people and very polite! We got a free upgrade to a luxury room upon checking in!! Also, the views from our room were breathtaking!!
We also loved that they were able to keep our bags when we checked out till we were ready to leave!
The breakfast had a variety and it was great too! Will definitely definitely be staying here everytime when we are in Sandton!! ..
The environment is great, and the hotel is located within a park, so there's dedicated security, making it very safe. The surrounding views are expansive. The hotel staff are very welcoming and enthusiastic, and the breakfast is quite generous. Definitely recommend!

KKaty RogA great hotel for one night, 5-10 minutes from the airport.
+ The main advantages are the free shuttles to and from the airport every hour.
+The inclusion of breakfast.
+ The hotel grounds are lovely, with plenty of seating in the courtyard.
+ There's also a restaurant where you can order lunch or dinner.
+ The room is basic, with tea and coffee available.
Cons:
– We didn't get our breakfast, even though we arrived at the appointed time. We waited 25 minutes for breakfast to be brought out for guests in other rooms who were traveling to the airport later than us. Ultimately, we were given packed lunches.
– We had a family room. Tthere's no door between the rooms, and the bathroom door is a folding door, which lets in all the noise and makes a lot of noise.
– The bed was sagging on one side.
– While taking a shower, the hot water went out for a couple of minutes, but then it came back on.
GGuest UserChecked in and had to wait for an hour for electricity no updates provided my room was near the power room so I could hear doors opening and closing and the electricity physically clicking and tripping. On and off on and off. When I settled into bed with light off, I received a knock at the door by guest asking me to open the gate for them as they did not receive a gate key. I a single female then had to get up put on clothes and go outside to let their guest out. I got over the lights shining into room and gaps in front door leading to courtyard with a blind that was blowing forward and basically showing me inside in any state. The electricity issue was happening consistently and could hear them walking in and out constantly. Wednesday I had a big presentation and got up at 05:30 to no electricity or update. I had to call them for information and was offered a flash light. I did my presentation with my hair undone due to not being able to use my hair machine. The owner found me in the smoking section and apologised worried he would be receiving a 1 star. I told him I wouldnt as I am in the service industry and him apologising is good enough. However I was further disappointed by more electricity issues and no update. I had to get ready with front door open and all blinds open to do my hair and makeup. Guests were walking past requesting updates, we had to reach out to them. No information provided. Shocking.

AAnonymous UserI chose this place because I liked the free pick-up and free breakfast. However, in fact, the last pick-up was at 11 o'clock in the evening. I arrived at the airport at 11 o'clock. I said that the pick-up at night would be charged. I am willing to pay, but I can't come to the arrival floor to pick me up. I can be at the bus station. It is well known. South Africa is naturally in a mess, and the probability of being robbed on the road at night is very high! Finally, I paid for a taxi to their hotel and found that the door was closed! The location of the hotel is very biased, there is no street light at night, the black light is blind, the driver is black, everyone is in the position to think about it, feel panic? I know that the front desk will get off work at 11 o'clock in the evening, but I have already emailed that I will land at 11 o'clock and arrive at 12 o'clock. They know it, but they still don't leave anyone. After waiting for a long time, the driver came back and opened the door. At the beginning, the driver refused to give me the door key and asked me to add 200 rand for the night stay. I don't know the cost. I didn't inform when I placed the order on Trip.com. On the second day, I took the shuttle bus to the airport and there was no time to eat breakfast. An unpleasant stay!
GGuy Kaulu Numbi MulongoI had an outstanding stay here during my recent business trip. The location is incredibly convenient, making it easy to navigate to meetings while still having great local amenities nearby.
The cleanliness of the room was impeccable, which is always my top priority. I was also very impressed with the facilities; the Wi-Fi was fast and reliable, and there was a comfortable workspace that made it easy to stay productive.
What truly stood out, however, was the service. The staff was professional, attentive, and went out of their way to ensure a seamless experience. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone traveling for work or leisure.
