This is definitely the best choice for a transit stay at Johannesburg Airport. It's less than a 10-minute walk from the terminal, located right on top of the parking garage, so you don't even have to go outside, which feels very safe.
Overall a very good stay. Clean. Coffee, tea, sugar and creamer provided. Staff very friendly.
There are delivery motorbikes parked inside the parking. They are very noisy and we're busy until around 24:00.
Our matress had a wire sticking out on one side, but we slept well.
The location is secure, i felt safe, close to airport so i didnt spend much on uber when heading there, spacious, well lit.
The corridor had some slight smell of cigarette but not inside the room.
I wish they could provide drinking water instead of selling it.
I am heading back there in 2 days, wonderful place
Near the airport that provides shuttle service from the airport, great place for an overnight stay should there be a need for one that have any connections or tour that starts from Johannesburg airport.
The most complained thing is that they don't give bottled water, you can only buy water from vending machines. I was transferring from Johannesburg to Shanghai when I called the service, and they ordered a taxi to pick me up. At first, my card was declining, but they were so patient until the payment went through. They were very kind, and the service was great. Every time I visit Johannesburg, I will be staying there. The apartment had two separate bedrooms, but I only used one, along with a kitchen and living room suitable for two families. I really enjoyed my stay.
Very comfortable bed and pillows. The door to the room opened very hard. The bathroom is very small and uncomfortable in use. Breakfast in the form of buffet - syte , tasty and varied. Generally recommend.
Refined industrial studio offering a peaceful retreat in a prime central location. The space features thoughtfully curated interiors with plush textures, warm wood tones, and clean modern finishes that create a soothing escape from city life. Enjoy panoramic city views, a spacious sleep and lounge area, a fully equipped kitchen and no load shedding. Guests benefit from 24/7 building security and a full service front desk. Ideal for business or leisure stays.
Very safe, clean and tidy, the environment is also good, very close to the airport, there are more than a dozen restaurants inside, the service attitude is also very good, it is worth recommending, rest assured to stay, no problem
Our stay here was nothing short of amazing!! It felt so safe and was super close to Mandela square and gautrain station
Also..the staff?? Super great people and very polite! We got a free upgrade to a luxury room upon checking in!! Also, the views from our room were breathtaking!!
We also loved that they were able to keep our bags when we checked out till we were ready to leave!
The breakfast had a variety and it was great too! Will definitely definitely be staying here everytime when we are in Sandton!! ..

GGuest UserChecked in and had to wait for an hour for electricity no updates provided my room was near the power room so I could hear doors opening and closing and the electricity physically clicking and tripping. On and off on and off. When I settled into bed with light off, I received a knock at the door by guest asking me to open the gate for them as they did not receive a gate key. I a single female then had to get up put on clothes and go outside to let their guest out. I got over the lights shining into room and gaps in front door leading to courtyard with a blind that was blowing forward and basically showing me inside in any state. The electricity issue was happening consistently and could hear them walking in and out constantly. Wednesday I had a big presentation and got up at 05:30 to no electricity or update. I had to call them for information and was offered a flash light. I did my presentation with my hair undone due to not being able to use my hair machine. The owner found me in the smoking section and apologised worried he would be receiving a 1 star. I told him I wouldnt as I am in the service industry and him apologising is good enough. However I was further disappointed by more electricity issues and no update. I had to get ready with front door open and all blinds open to do my hair and makeup. Guests were walking past requesting updates, we had to reach out to them. No information provided. Shocking.
GGuest UserI recently stayed at this hotel and while it’s not a five-star property, the experience was genuinely pleasant overall. The biggest highlight was definitely the staff, they were incredibly friendly, warm, and enthusiastic. From check-in to check-out, they made us feel welcome and valued, which truly makes a difference.
They also recommended a restaurant nearby, and it turned out to be an excellent suggestion. The food was delicious and the service there was outstanding as well.
The rooms are well-equipped with practical amenities, including a microwave, stove, washing machine, and even two bedrooms in one unit, which makes it very convenient for families or longer stays.
That said, there is room for improvement when it comes to hygiene and overall maintenance. There was a slight musky smell in parts of the hotel, and the cleaning standards could be improved.
Despite this, we genuinely enjoyed our stay, mainly because the staff’s kindness and professionalism really stood out. With some attention to maintenance and cleanliness, this hotel has the potential to be even better.
ZZee MlabaReview for OR Tambo Guest House
I recently stayed at OR Tambo Guest House for three nights and had a great experience. Since my flight arrived very late at night, the staff kindly suggested a driver to pick me up, which was incredibly thoughtful and made my arrival stress-free.
The guest house was impeccably clean (5/5), and the service was excellent (5/5) – the staff was friendly, accommodating, and attentive throughout my stay. The location was convenient (4/5), being close to the airport, though not much else is within walking distance.
The amenities were decent (4/5), offering all the basics I needed for a comfortable stay. While the aesthetic wasn’t my favorite (3/5), it didn’t take away from the overall experience. Breakfast had limited options, but I wasn’t upset about it – it was enough to start the day.
Overall, it’s an affordable place to stay, offering great value for the price. I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a clean and convenient spot near OR Tambo Airport.
GGuest UserWe enjoyed our stay; the breakfast was scrumptious with plenty of options to choose from. Rooms were spotless and hotel staff were always ready to assist us
