4-Star Hotels in Catalonia, Spain

There was a welcome drink, and I was given a Caba. The room was clean, and above all, the location was excellent. The shower water pressure was a little weak. I was charged for the minibar I didn't use, but the refund was smooth. It's a good idea to check beforehand.

I recently stayed at Masd Mediterraneo Hotel Apartamentos Spa in Castelldefels, and overall, it was a fantastic experience. The location is ideal—right across from the beach, with beautiful sea views and a peaceful atmosphere that’s perfect for a relaxing getaway. The area feels safe and quiet but still offers good access to restaurants and shops within walking distance. The hotel itself is modern and well-maintained. I stayed in one of the apartments, which was spacious, clean, and equipped with a kitchenette—great for longer stays. The bed was very comfortable, and the balcony overlooking the sea was a highlight. The Wi-Fi worked reliably, and the air conditioning was effective and quiet.

The check in experience was so horrible. After I presented my passport to the receptionists (3 guys) in hotel front desk, they kept requesting me to show the boarding pass of my cancelled flight. If i could not show it, they don’t allow me to check in. I argued with them why I have to show my boarding pass and how can I have boarding pass if my flight is cancelled. They insisted I have to show, otherwise I could not check in. Their attitudes were so rude and I spent almost 40 min to show all documents I have on-hand, then they gave me my room key. The room assigned to me is not so comfortable because it is on ground floor without window facing outside streets. I don’t think it is tourist friendly at all.

The Hotel was very good. The room was a bit small but comfortable. The staffs were very friendly and always nice at the reception. The breakfast was cool with many options of fruits and breads. I would come back next time.

After a lot of deliberation and some safety concerns, I finally booked this place, and it was absolutely fantastic! The location is super convenient, really close to the subway. The residential area is clean and safe, and there's a supermarket right across the street, which was incredibly handy for getting food. The biggest surprise was booking a room with a terrace – totally worth it! Every evening, I'd enjoy a drink on the terrace while taking in the mountain views. Such a lovely experience, and amazing value for money!

The hotel was nice, nicely located on the outskirts of Barcelona so perfect if you are driving. Good value for money, the staff was nice and helpful. The free coffee was a plus! Nice clean rooms although the top shelf was a bit dusty. The outside areas and terrace would need a more regular clean, also you could smell the sewers at times. A toilet brush might be useful in the bathroom and a water fountain would be good. The towel dryer would not turn on but this might be due to the season. We had a very nice stay overall and would go there again.

I really liked the hotel's location. On my very first evening after checking in, I walked to many interesting sights and shops. Bus stops were also conveniently nearby, making it easy to get back in the evening and leave in the morning. There's a large Mercadona supermarket close by, as well as a small 24-hour convenience store for groceries, perfect if you return late and the supermarket is closed. The room itself was very spacious and beautiful; I felt like I was on ”Oryol i Reshka” with a gold card! :) I was pleased to find a large wardrobe for clothes storage. I had no complaints about the cleanliness of the room; after each cleaning, they always left drinking water in glass bottles. Only pleasant impressions remain :)

This was my very first time planning a solo trip abroad, and I was admittedly quite anxious after paying the full price and then reading some mixed reviews. Since the policy didn’t allow cancellations, I checked in with a bit of worry—but I’m really glad I did. The room turned out to be pleasantly clean and well-organized. I particularly liked the layout: there are two doors between the bedroom and the bathroom, which gave me a strong sense of privacy and security while resting. Another highlight was the lovely scent in the room—it instantly made me feel at ease and almost like being at home. (If possible, I’d love to ask what kind of aroma sachet or air freshener is used—I’d like to buy the same one!) During mid-November, the evenings in Barcelona were slightly chilly, but the heating/air-conditioning unit in the room worked well and kept things comfortable. That said, when the unit is turned on, there’s a noticeable mechanical noise—it’s not too loud and didn’t disturb my rest, but worth mentioning. I also appreciated how responsive the staff were. On my first night, I thought the external shutter in the room was broken. I reported it to the front desk, and the manager quickly sent someone to assist. It turned out the shutter was manually operated by a cord hidden behind the inner curtain on the far right—easy to miss at first glance. Although the hotel isn’t in the city center, transportation was convenient—there’s a nearby bus stop within walking distance, with easy access to both the metro and Sants train station. A nice bonus: just a 3-minute walk away is a bakery called Joncake & Wine, a branch of the famous Joncake. Their Basque cheesecake is incredible, and being a branch, it’s much less crowded than the main store. There’s also a small convenience store right downstairs—great for picking up water or other essentials. One downside would be the soundproofing. The walls and floors seem quite thin, so I could hear voices and footsteps from the neighboring room. It wasn’t too disruptive for me, but worth noting. Originally, I only planned to stay three nights, but I ended up liking it enough to extend for another three. Overall, this stay exceeded my expectations and became a memorable part of my solo trip to Spain.

The room on the first floor was too damp! There were a lot of ants. There were almost no facilities in the room. The accommodation experience was average; but the restaurant was very good, especially the dinner, with a rich variety and very cheap; the most convenient thing was that it was almost inside the adventure park, which was great; the tram parking was right next to the lobby and you could charge it for free, which was great. No need to check out, and you saved the queue.
