Good: Polite staff, clean and spacious rooms
Can be improved: Food at breakfast buffet was cold instead of warm or hot, esp the soups (both savory and sweet). No dim sum and soupy noodles (like Soto mee, bakso mee, etc).
Karibia Hotel is located near the Kesawan area (the old city of Medan), making it easy to explore nearby attractions on foot. There are also plenty of artisan cafés around. If you’re here on a weekend, you can catch the car-free day event at Merdeka Walk, just a 5–10 minute walk from the hotel. Upon entering the lobby, you’re greeted with a pleasant scent that gives the hotel a luxurious vibe. The breakfast spread is quite good, featuring mostly Indonesian cuisine. The only downside is that there’s no smart TV. So if you’re planning a staycation and prefer to just stay in the hotel, it might not be ideal as there isn’t much to do; no swimming pool and no smart TV.
I had a bittersweet experience staying in this apartment. For the good things: the apartment is located strategically near city center, the room is spacious with complete basic amenities. However, there are 2 unpleasant things. First, there is no non-smoking unit except for the high-end room types. I went into a unit with leftover smoke smell, likely from previous guest. Second, the sound-proofing is terrible. My bedroom was facing a street junction, and any roaring noise from the cars/modified bikes penetrated the room as if there was no window to begin with. There was no ear plug the apartment could provide even though this was not the first feedback they have received from previous guests, and I couldn't sleep throughout the night. I booked 4 nights and immediately left after the first night. The service was pretty decent though. The customer service tried to use air purifier to suck out the smoke smell, and attempted to move me to other rooms to no avail because of similar noise problem.
Here we also booked non smoking rooms, at arrival we got one non smoking room only. We need to accept one smoking room. We did not accept and they said they have one more non smoking room but different floor. We accept this without knowing the danger of different floor with the kids. We stayed at 4th floor and children at 3rd floor. The things is kids got un easy during the night and wanted to go to us but the lift is only accessible for 3rd floor. They are in Panic and we were in Panic too. We call reception to ask help and instead of coming to help children they asked children to come down to the lobby reception than they activate 4th floor lift.
Breakfast is moderate
Service not desirable/standaard
Hotel 3 / 4 stars small room.
Not friendly atmosphere may be because we are the same like them Indonesian
There is no attitude between hotel and guests
The bedroom is spacious but because it is located on a busy road and a red light intersection, so the sound of traffic can be heard in the room plus there are buskers using speakers at the red light intersection.
one of the best Indonesian hotel chain that serve the best indonesian culture and cuisines. the room quite nice, the location superb, and the food was great.
Old design hotel that need re set up again due to current lay out truly outdated and not fit to the latest facility as hotel. Hair dryer, lighting system, air conditioning without remote control 😐😐 appreciate to the hotel management to have a look on this situation. If this keep continuous happen.. Not impossible Danau Toba international hotel would be a collapsed and hope immediate action would taken 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I used to stay here during my golfing days more than 10 yrs ago. This time I came alone.
The shower is erratic, flow haywire, No Live music at Lobby Lounge, Karaoke is Closed, and my room is facing the pool,so Noisy and Loud at New year 31/12 celebration.
TV channels adequate, coffee Tea r good.
Breakfast, average and boring.
The hotel breakfast was clean and good. However, after checking in, they led me to the building in the back, but the smell in the area was really strong. So, I am not sensitive to such things, so I was satisfied with the various facilities and used them well.

Very Good
TTrip.com local guidesIt’s a decent place with comfy beds and cooling air conditioning. But the problem is that the blower wasn’t mounted properly and is shaking like a sugar cane juice machine. Other than that no issue with the room. There is a welcome drink, to claim it you should go to a lounge on the second floor. When you get there they present you a menu and ask you to select a drink, only after you order the drink off their menu do they actually bring the welcome drink telling you that the drink you ordered is also on its way. I honestly believe it’s a gimmick or a scam. Very disappointed.

MMarianBig room with very comfortable beds. There isn't much to do nearby without travelling far but the hotel does have a pool on-site. There are free shuttles to the airport, every two hours, and hence is a convenient spot to stay if you have flights.
