This was my first trip to Japan's Tohoku region. The Richmond Hotel Morioka is visible right after exiting the JR station. When traveling in Japan, I generally choose hotels near JR stations for their unparalleled convenience in dining, accommodation, transportation, and shopping. I'm especially pleased with the Richmond Morioka. The rooms are slightly larger than hotels in other cities, and the floor-to-ceiling windows make them feel bright and airy. The cleanliness and facilities were satisfactory, and the front desk staff provided excellent service. The check-in/check-out times were better than in other areas. The bedding was very comfortable, and the hotel's soundproofing was excellent, ensuring a peaceful night's sleep. If I visit the Tohoku region again, I'll definitely use Morioka as my base, and the Richmond will undoubtedly be my top choice.
The location is beautiful and the views from the car park assured us we had chosen well. Check in was helpful and all facilities were fully explained at this time, allowing us to book our dining time.
The room was comfortable and traditional; the view, amazing! With an afternoon of sunshine, time was taken to enjoy the view in a temperature controlled setting. There was a beautiful tea set and tea provided along with some complementary snacks and water. The toiletries provided were lovely and I shall certainly be looking to purchase these for my home.
Dinner was a Chinese style buffet, with an excellent selection of dishes. Barbecues for the table and delicious sashimi and hand prepared sushi. Soups, stews, salad and more! To follow was an assortment of cakes and ice creams. Staff were very helpful and polite and the food was filling and delicious. We then retired to the hotel bar where we were again greeted by a lovely member of staff.
Upon return to our room, futons had been prepared and the room made ready for sleep. These were surprisingly comfortable.
Breakfast was also delicious with a huge array of dishes to choose from. Check out was simple and staff were helpful and polite.
I will definitely be returning!

This hotel is incredibly convenient, being so close to the station. It's a standard business hotel, but the brand chain is reliable, and the location is excellent. The bed was also very comfortable, just the right firmness.
The hotel is conveniently located within walking distance of Morioka Station, right next to Round One. The building itself isn't huge. If you've paid in advance, you can use the self-service checkout, which is really convenient for catching an early train. The room, although small, is fully equipped and everything is new and clean. They provide coffee and tea, and you can boil water in your room. There's also hot water available in the hallway. The in-room kettle and toilet were very clean, and the pajamas and bedding felt new too. As a place for a backpacker on the go to rest their head, it's faultless, but it might not be ideal for tourists.
Really fantastic location, and good sized room. We didn't get the breakfast, but be warned they had a sign up saying waits for breakfast could take up to 30 minutes during ”peak times” (like 7:30-9:00) which seemed kind of nuts. Also, we unfortunately didn't get super helpful information about the nearby onsens from the front desk staff (language barrier maybe!), so recommend looking up anything you want to do independently.
The check-in staff introduced the hotel attentively and cleaned the room attentively. The ski rental staff are very patient.
But the quality of the food in the restaurant is average, and all the shrimps in the seafood are rotten. And some of the waiters are not polite to the guests.

Hotel could seem abit dated, but everything is very clean. There were a few stink bugs during our stay but it could not be helped as it was autumn season, and the hotel staff helped to catch them where possible. The sulfur smell in the hallway could be quite strong for some people, but I think it's a natural part because of the onsen.
Staff were very kind and helpful. Can consider going on their guided trekking programme as they were very considerate in making the trek fun and safe for us.
The buffet food is very good! Every dish was done quite nicely and they change most of the menu for the two days I was there. Did not regret getting it.
I was looking for a hotel for my trip to Morioka when I found out this hotel was opening that day, so I booked it right away.
The lobby, guest rooms, and lounge were all beautiful, stylish, and wonderful.
The large public bath had a sauna, which was very relaxing.
The breakfast, which I had been looking forward to, was even more delicious than I expected, and I ate a lot. I definitely want to stay here again the next time I travel to Morioka.
We arrived late from an overseas trip but before the check in last call. Staff was friendly and thorough. The air conditioning seemed a bit weak but otherwise kept us cool. The rooms were western style, including the bathrooms and were well stocked. We didn't get a chance to eat there as we slept in until almost checkout. Beautiful place. Will likely stay there again in the future if we need another night in Morioka!
The hotel staff are very warm, polite and attentive. Very satisfied! The room I booked includes a semi-open-air bath, which is a great environment. The room was also cleaned very well. Breakfast and dinner were also very rich and delicious. Highly recommended!!!!

SStaliciousWe had a pleasant stay in general. However, room ceaning service needs to be improved. Our group of people have a few bad experiences.
1) after returning to room after the day, there was a used mask left in the bathroom. There’s also a day without providing onsen towels and we had to bring over the mid size ones
2) the door of my friend’s room remained open after the cleaning service (a 3M sticker with なすし2 sticked on wall). Glad there’s no missing items
3) another room, there was blood and urine stint left on the toilet cover!
I hope the hotel can take it seriously as it indeed ruins the brand of IHG and bad customer experience.

GGuest UserI stayed in a moderate single room. It was beautifully renovated and very cute. It was directly connected to the station, so it was very convenient to be able to buy various souvenirs in the station building.
