IIrisjgzThis was my first trip to Japan's Tohoku region. The Richmond Hotel Morioka is visible right after exiting the JR station. When traveling in Japan, I generally choose hotels near JR stations for their unparalleled convenience in dining, accommodation, transportation, and shopping. I'm especially pleased with the Richmond Morioka. The rooms are slightly larger than hotels in other cities, and the floor-to-ceiling windows make them feel bright and airy. The cleanliness and facilities were satisfactory, and the front desk staff provided excellent service. The check-in/check-out times were better than in other areas. The bedding was very comfortable, and the hotel's soundproofing was excellent, ensuring a peaceful night's sleep. If I visit the Tohoku region again, I'll definitely use Morioka as my base, and the Richmond will undoubtedly be my top choice.
GGuest UserThe location is beautiful and the views from the car park assured us we had chosen well. Check in was helpful and all facilities were fully explained at this time, allowing us to book our dining time.
The room was comfortable and traditional; the view, amazing! With an afternoon of sunshine, time was taken to enjoy the view in a temperature controlled setting. There was a beautiful tea set and tea provided along with some complementary snacks and water. The toiletries provided were lovely and I shall certainly be looking to purchase these for my home.
Dinner was a Chinese style buffet, with an excellent selection of dishes. Barbecues for the table and delicious sashimi and hand prepared sushi. Soups, stews, salad and more! To follow was an assortment of cakes and ice creams. Staff were very helpful and polite and the food was filling and delicious. We then retired to the hotel bar where we were again greeted by a lovely member of staff.
Upon return to our room, futons had been prepared and the room made ready for sleep. These were surprisingly comfortable.
Breakfast was also delicious with a huge array of dishes to choose from. Check out was simple and staff were helpful and polite.
I will definitely be returning!

GGuest UserHotel could seem abit dated, but everything is very clean. There were a few stink bugs during our stay but it could not be helped as it was autumn season, and the hotel staff helped to catch them where possible. The sulfur smell in the hallway could be quite strong for some people, but I think it's a natural part because of the onsen.
Staff were very kind and helpful. Can consider going on their guided trekking programme as they were very considerate in making the trek fun and safe for us.
The buffet food is very good! Every dish was done quite nicely and they change most of the menu for the two days I was there. Did not regret getting it.
GGuest UserI was looking for a hotel for my trip to Morioka when I found out this hotel was opening that day, so I booked it right away.
The lobby, guest rooms, and lounge were all beautiful, stylish, and wonderful.
The large public bath had a sauna, which was very relaxing.
The breakfast, which I had been looking forward to, was even more delicious than I expected, and I ate a lot. I definitely want to stay here again the next time I travel to Morioka.
FFlorentmThis hotel is perfect for family ski trips. The facilities are excellent, and it's very convenient for skiing. Both breakfast and dinner offer a great variety of food. The shuttle bus to the station is also very handy. Remember to book your ski rentals in advance, and there's a dedicated storage area for your gear.
GGuest UserThis hotel is incredibly convenient, being so close to the station. It's a standard business hotel, but the brand chain is reliable, and the location is excellent. The bed was also very comfortable, just the right firmness.
VVicwangxThe lady at the front desk was very enthusiastic and helped us by recommending attractions and nearby ski resorts. It was very convenient to get to the ski resort, and the place was clean and hygienic.
GGuest UserI stayed in a moderate single room. It was beautifully renovated and very cute. It was directly connected to the station, so it was very convenient to be able to buy various souvenirs in the station building.
KKwok Keung YipThe hotel staff are very warm, polite and attentive. Very satisfied! The room I booked includes a semi-open-air bath, which is a great environment. The room was also cleaned very well. Breakfast and dinner were also very rich and delicious. Highly recommended!!!!
GGuest UserReally fantastic location, and good sized room. We didn't get the breakfast, but be warned they had a sign up saying waits for breakfast could take up to 30 minutes during ”peak times” (like 7:30-9:00) which seemed kind of nuts. Also, we unfortunately didn't get super helpful information about the nearby onsens from the front desk staff (language barrier maybe!), so recommend looking up anything you want to do independently.
