Facilities: Very retro, featuring old-fashioned bullet locks and many Swahili-inspired wood carvings and window decorations. The pool water is very clean, and there are many photogenic spots inside.
Free round-trip airport transfer: Lamu House is very close to the airport, and a staff member will greet you upon arrival. The clientele is mainly European and American tourists.
Environment: Mombasa is extremely hot, but there was no air conditioning in the rooms. The noise from the boats outside the windows was quite loud, which was a minor drawback.
Service: The hotel offers the option to charter a boat with a local boat owner. Two night cruises for stargazing and sunset viewing were particularly memorable. The cost is approximately 15,000 Ken shillings per boat.
