I had a great experience at Scenic Hotel. During check-in, the male staff member was extremely friendly and helpful. He gave me lots of useful information about the area, including the best places to eat, where to park, and tips for seeing the penguins. His local knowledge really helped make our trip easier and more enjoyable. The next morning, after coming back late from travelling, I asked the reception if I could check out 15–20 minutes later. The staff member on morning reception was very cool, understanding, and friendly. She happily allowed the late checkout with no issues at all. Overall, both staff members provided excellent service, and I really appreciated their kindness and helpful attitude. Highly recommend this hotel for both comfort and outstanding customer service!

For where you are (Oamaru is a small historical town) and depending on what you plan to do the clue is very much in the name. Parking was easy, decor quirky and very well designed. Cold buffet breakfast included named local cheeses, beautiful fruit and bread section with sociable table seating - gorgeous. We did a visit night at Oamaru Penguins, which for nature lovers is unbeatable (with dinner at Del Mare next door to the centre which was great ) it was absolutely perfect for our visit.

The gravel leading up to and around the hostel is a really poor design choice. Don't most guests arrive with luggage? It was so difficult dragging my suitcase over those stones. Plus, the hostel rooms are in a separate building in the courtyard, seemingly made of wood and corrugated metal. It got incredibly hot at night, and there was no air conditioning, making it impossible to sleep. On the bright side, it's very close to the lake. I also paid more than the usual rate for my booking, which only added to my dissatisfaction.

Very happy with our Accomodation at Aria on Bank Dunedin. The self contained unit for a couple was modern, very clean, fresh & well presented. Free (No fee) use of laundry ( washing machine & dryer) for all tenants to use. Our room was missing a frying pan which i needed to cook. I contacted the front desk, the gentleman receptionist immediately ran & I mean ran to our unit to confirm it was missing & sure enough none to be located. He left & returned a couple mins later with a replacement frying pan & utensil. Outstanding service. AAA+++ RATING for service & excellence.

The lakeside cottage is very beautiful and the room is clean, but it has a retro feel and everything is old. There is also a small drawback that you can't cook. But the restaurant next to it is delicious and worth a visit! The key point is that the room has a bathtub

An absolutely wonderful experience! The hotel's surroundings are incredibly beautiful. Inside, the decor is very unique and charming, with a lovely little garden and a pool. The front desk even gave us welcome cookies when we checked in, which was a really nice touch.

If you use Google Maps, remember to select the pedestrian path for directions. Otherwise, it may guide you to an abandoned house. The view from the dining room was nice, but we found some short blond hairs on the bed. We weren't too concerned about it, but others might be. The breakfast is quite Western—bread and jam, with milk or yogurt. It's a nice place, suitable for a short nap before takeoff. Nearby Saddle Hill is a great spot for viewing the Southern Lights if the timing is right. You could also ask John for local tips—he might know the best viewing spots. Thanks again to John for his hospitality!

SierraMotel is a typical kiwi motel with all the amenities you need. Nicely set back off the road so quiet and undisturbed. Obviously very popular with cyclists, fishermen and walkers, of whom there were plenty.

Overall, this accommodation was excellent and exceeded our expectations. The unit was very spacious, well-maintained, and spotlessly clean upon arrival, which immediately made us feel comfortable and at ease. The layout was practical and suitable for both short and longer stays, with ample space to move around and relax. One of the biggest advantages was how easy the place was to locate. Clear directions and a convenient location made check-in smooth and stress-free, especially after a long journey. The surrounding area was also quiet and pleasant, allowing for a restful stay. Cleanliness was clearly a priority, from the rooms to the common areas, which we truly appreciated. Overall, this accommodation offers great comfort, convenience, and value. We would definitely recommend it to others and would not hesitate to stay here again in the future.

NNigulasizhaosiayoLocated on the outskirts of Queenstown, it's about a 15-minute drive to the town center. There's a McDonald's nearby. The front desk has Chinese-speaking staff who are all very friendly. The room was spacious and the sanitary facilities were great.

KKhoThe place is spacious and the location is excellent. It is right next to the main road. After watching the little penguins, you can buy fast food nearby before returning to the hostel. The room is spacious and there are staff on duty at night. You can park at the door, which is very convenient

HHuobatuThe hotel environment is particularly good, the proprietress is a Chinese sister, especially good, give me milk, it is very quiet, and very close to the scenic spot, there is a McDonald's and gas station ten meters away, there is a fish and chips 100 meters away, and the Chinese are also delicious but not friendly. In short, the hotel is very clean, the location is good, convenient and fast, parking is very convenient

이진희We chose this hotel because we expected to enjoy its winery/food. Otherwise, we should have stayed in Queenstown with a lot of restaurants and pubs. As we would arrive in the early evening, we put a note for our hope for experiencing their winery and food (or at least finger foods) when we booked the hotel, and received email that they cannot guarantee but will do their best to serve our need. Since then, no email was sent to us. When we arrived at the hotel around 6 pm, no one was in the information desk, so we had to go to the bistro to find out that they left the key in a safe box without any notice or sending us any email with its password. We had to wait a while for the bistro lady to make a phone call to whom it concerns, which was okay. Worse, we heard that their bistro was reserved for a group event so we could not use the facility at all. We had to drive 15 minutes to a nearby town and bought foods from a supermarket. I think the hotel should have notified us of impossibility of using their bistro/food service due to the group event and we have to prepare for our food. As I checked out, I left a note about the issues, and expected they would send me an email to express their sincere apology. Unfortunately nothing happened so far. Although I liked the room as well as the whole place very much, I think Kinross cottage needs professionalism to run their stay program. It could have been much nicer, memorable stay experience.

AAnonymous UserThe hotel is a bit out of the way, so I wouldn't recommend it if you don't have a car. The hygiene was decent, but parking was a hassle with only a few spots available. The room itself was quite basic, similar to what you'd find at a budget chain like Home Inn. Luckily, I got to see the aurora right outside the hotel! Overall, it was acceptable.

AAnonymous UserThe facilities were new and great, and the sleep was comfortable, but there are a few things that need improvement: 1️⃣ The water temperature at night wasn't good. 2️⃣ The Wi-Fi kept disconnecting and I couldn't even connect to it. Parking costs 20 NZD per day.

GGuest UserThe hotel's location is very central, a 20-minute walk to the lake, or a 5-minute drive. The service attitude was good. We didn't try the restaurant. The balcony offered lake views, but the building and rooms overall felt a bit dated. The parking lot was a significant issue, and I'm not sure if other Queenstown hotels have similar problems: 1) There were no clear signs for entering the parking lot (we encountered road construction, and the entrance was marked as closed, but it was indeed the way in). The parking entrance involved an uphill slope before driving down to a lower level. The exit also wasn't clearly marked, making it easy to confuse the entrance and exit, thinking the entrance was also the way out. 2) The parking lot was narrow with many pillars and quite dark. 3) The ceiling of the parking lot was low; opening the trunk would hit the ceiling, and opening it too quickly could easily cause scratches (as the parking notice states, 'enter at your own risk,' so it seems many cars have been scratched in this lot).

GGuest UserThe hotel is located halfway up the mountain, so it takes about 30 minutes to walk to town (downhill all the way). However, the scenery along the way is beautiful, so it's quite nice for those who enjoy walking and sightseeing. For shopping, it's better to drive (there's paid parking in town). Our lake-view room was a bit tricky to get to; we had to go up a few floors and then climb another flight of stairs. Carrying luggage was really tough, so I wouldn't recommend this room type if you mind hauling your bags. Other than that, everything else was fine, okay.
