The location of Crowne Plaza is at one end of Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street, closer  to People's Park and Raffles City Shanghai. It is a good location for any last minute shopping before your flight. There is M&M World, Lego and Popmart around the corner. We are able to access to the Pedestrian Street from the side or back entrance. There is also no problem in finding food around the hotel. There are hotpots, stalls, convenience stall and a food court/place just across the hotel. It is also walking distance to popular location like  Yang's Dumpling (小杨生煎).  The hotel staff we met are friendly and helpful. They helped to arrange our rooms next to each other and arranged the ride to the airport as we need a larger vehicle that our luggages can fit. The breakfast has a decent selection of Chinese food. We stayed on a high floor with a nice unblocked view, but a pity that the window has water marks. The room is spacious and the bed was good. There is a small 24H gym (if I remember correctly). The bathtub in my room is not functioning as we cannot stop the water from draining. Other than these, we had a great and comfortable stay.

This room is not as nice as the room with twin beds. The down pillow available on the pillow menu was very flat. Actually, all of the pillows were not really good for sleeping on (they all deflated very quickly). Still, the pillow menu is a nice touch. Additionally, one of the lights by the night stand didn’t work. The temperature of the faucet and bathtub were not easy to control and moderate easily.

This hotel is so~~~~ great. I am so touched by their service. Best Shanghai hotel ever. Those people at the front desk were fantastic. They even provided free Yu Yuan tour with guests. I have to thank so much to Jerry. He helped every thing for us. Very considerate and delicate service. He should be the global best hotelier!!! Location is very good. Right next to the Bund and Yu Yuan, both short walking distance. Don't worry if your room doesn't have a good view since in the 11th floor common balcony, any guests can have a beautiful view of the Shanghai Tower and the Oriental Pearl Tower. I loved their breakfast as well. The lady who checked in for my family for the restaurant was so great. I forgot her name, but maybe Camela. I really appreciate you! 1st floor bell crews were so kind as well. I definitely want to come to this hotel again. My families Shanghai visit was much happier because of these people. If I come again, I will stay with them. Thank you and miss you, everyone.

The hotel is conveniently located just within 100 meters of Nanjing Pedestrian Street, easy access to shopping and dining. However, the entrance on Level 1 is right along a busy road, making drop-off and pickup inconvenient due to frequent traffic congestion. There is only a single elevator that goes up to the main lobby on Level 4, which can be a bottleneck during peak times. The hotel itself feels dated, with rooms and facilities showing signs of age. The breakfast was below average, offering limited variety and lacking in quality.

The air conditioner in the room worked properly and adjusted the temperature quickly. The hotel staff are very considerate. They are very prompt in their service and come to clean the rooms on time when needed, replenishing free drinking water. And the Wi-Fi signal in the room is very good. Overall, although the hotel rooms do not have particularly extravagant exterior facilities, they do an excellent job in terms of value for money. All the staff and Xiangzhang were very good in assisting me during my stay to make it a very pleasent stay. Thank you very much.

For an old hotel, the cleanliness from housekeeping and room smell is acceptable. However, the rooms are weary; there’s mould surrounding the aircon vent and the shower heads look equally as grimy. The rain shower was faulty and the shower stand can’t really hold the shower head up. Service is also subpar for a four star hotel (according to them) but they do speak English which is great—in comparison to my previous hotel in Beijing. The location is amazing though—you’re right at the start of Nanjing Pedestrian Street. But be warned that the didi location of the hotel is wrong. I would stay stay here if you’re on a budget but the rooms aren’t even cheap…so I wouldn’t recommend unless you really want to stay on Nanjing Street.

Jing'an District Shanghai|2.97km from city centre
Kunlun Jing’an is our go-to hotel whenever we visit Shanghai. We live in Hangzhou and often travel to Shanghai, usually on weekends. Since moving to Hangzhou last year, we’ve always stayed at this hotel—it’s become our preferred choice because of the excellent service, comfortable rooms, and outstanding staff. Everyone, from the concierge to the hotel bar, room service, breakfast team, and front desk, has been helpful and professional. We’ve never had any issues during our stays—in fact, this was our fifth time staying here. However, during our recent stay on Friday night, for my husband’s weekend birthday celebration, we encountered some problems. We checked in late and went straight out for dinner. When we returned to our room, I stepped on a wet patch next to the bed. I was fairly certain it was urine, but we gave the hotel the benefit of the doubt, assuming it might just be water. We called the operator—who, I must say, was not the most helpful staff member we’ve encountered here. She sent two employees to inspect the wet spot, and they insisted it was only water. We offered to dry it ourselves with a hairdryer, so my husband tried. As soon as he began, a strong odor became apparent—it definitely smelled like urine. My husband pressed tissues onto the rug to check the liquid’s colour, and they turned yellow. We called the operator again, and she said someone would come to re-examine it. After waiting 15 minutes with no response, we called once more at 11:30 PM—I was exhausted by this point. My husband spoke to the same person, who assured us someone would arrive soon. Again, no one came. At 12:30 AM, my husband called again, now extremely frustrated. Finally, a staff member arrived and called someone on the phone what I assume was the hotel manager. To our disappointment, the manager asked an unreasonable question: “What time did you check in? Why didn’t you report this immediately?” My husband replied that we had entered the room at 7 PM, we were thinking why we would inspect every inch of the rug for wet patches? Eventually, they moved us to another room of the same type. After settling in, I took a shower and reached for the body lotion from the bathroom amenities—only to find it half-used. By then, I was at my limit and wanted to complain at the front desk, but it was already 1 AM, and I was too tired. We decided to sleep and address it in the morning. After breakfast, we spoke to a front desk staff member, who was very kind, apologetic, and helpful. She brought the manager, who also apologized and upgraded us to a beautiful suite. While we appreciated the gesture, this might be our last stay at this hotel. That said, the staff at Kunlun Jing’an are truly excellent—this experience was just an unfortunate exception.

It's really not easy to find a good but affordable hotel in shanghai. I booked this for our arrival stay in Shanghai and ended up booking it again for the stay before departing from Shanghai. It is a reasonable choice. Clean enough though the hotel definitely shows worn out signs, but clean. Big enough so that we can put two big suitcases. And the location is like 20 mins walking to the People's square. The walk there crosses a beautiful bridge, so nothing to complain about. Also it is very quiet, which is important for us, as we need to sleep to recover after flights. Good choice for that amount of money.

We have been staying at The Langham on and off for over 15 years now every time we come to visit my sister who lives here. As much as we love the convenience of its surroundings and proximity to wonderful shopping and food, this time we must admit, it will be our last stay here. In the 15 years or so, they have not invested back into the property at all. As such, the furnishings and decor all over the property is getting real old and worn. With new and hip hotels popping up around different parts of the city, I don’t know how they can keep up. I guess it is in a very good part of town, so they’ll always make money but as a repeat customer, it’s getting real hard to keep on coming back. We’ve been very loyal to you but next time we’re trying something else.

Staff ok. Reasonable English and willing to help. Hotel and rooms are clean and service not intrusive. Location is good. Not far from some sights. Can easily walk to Nanking pedestrian are (南京步行街). Hotel facilities are not up to standard of an international brand. Breakfast ok. But our TV sets in our room had terrible reception particularly to the Chinese channels, it happens that I like to watch the CCTV (chinese central tv?) documentaries and I could not, as I informed the front desk on the 2nd day, not fixed, then informed on the 3rd morning then slightly better, so I gave up. Also, for some reason, the tv sets in the room and the living room were linked and when I turned on one, the other would start but not synchronized. At the first night, nothing could be done but to turn both off. There was also water leakage of ?water from the closet ceiling, my wife's dress was wet from that, after fixing on the 2nd day, on the 3rd day, leak less but water still dropped. To be fair. The front desk asked me if I needed to change room by then but I was leaving on the 4th morning and my wife had moved all the clothing to the connecting room closet, so no harm already. Definitely not going back and not recommend this hotel. Our friends told us that this hotel was old but not an excuse.

It was amazing experience for us. We’ve traveled so many places around the world, this hotel was one of the best hotels we’ve stayed in. We only stayed for 3 nights for Christmas, it’s holiday season, everything so beautiful. Great location and services, it was above my expectations except for the foods. When I booked, it didn’t include breakfast, we had to pay extra fees for it. Honestly, it’s okay to try, but not worthy (If you get it free, that’s awesome). Lots of selection, but wasn’t what I expected. It’s pricey, over $500 RMB for 2 one time only. Overall it’s perfect, I would stay there again when I visit Shanghai.

The hotel room facilities are good, with everything that should be there. The smoking area outside is also very beautiful. The breakfast in the morning is very good, it is self-service, and there are freshly made noodles to eat. If you are thirsty, you can go downstairs at any time to have some drinks and fruits, which are all included in the hotel package. Why the deduction? Like many reviews wrote, the water in the pool here is really too hot. It is the hottest of all the hot springs in Shanghai that I have been to. It feels too hot. I saw that several children could hardly soak in the water for a while. I don’t know why so many people complained. I saw that the management was still saying in the comments that it met the hot spring temperature requirements. What they said is that your water is too hot, and they are giving you suggestions. Everyone in the hot spring said that the water was hot, not that you violated any regulations... It takes talent to reply like this

I rarely write hotel reviews but this one is a true hidden gem! My partner and I stayed for one night and we used this guesthouse as our little getaway from the busy center of Shanghai. It’s perfect for a romantic and cosy staycation, very quiet and private! The water in the private hot spring, surprisingly, comes from a real underground spring so it’s quite hot. Because it’s summer, we had to wait for it to cool down a little bit but it was perfect later on, especially during the night, we stayed in there past midnight and it was amazing. Disappointing Experience at The Ritz-Carlton Shanghai I stayed at The Ritz-Carlton Shanghai for two nights, and unfortunately, my experience was far from the luxury service I expected. 1. Discrimination at Flair Rooftop Restaurant On my first night, I visited Flair, the hotel's rooftop restaurant. Before going, I was told at the lobby that the restaurant operates on a first-come, first-served basis, with no reservations. However, when I arrived at around 5:50 PM, the restaurant was only 20% occupied, yet the host told me it was ”fully booked.” Then, the host questioned my intent, asking whether I was there for drinks or dinner. When I said ”dinner,” he suddenly mentioned a 1,600-yuan minimum spending requirement. I agreed without hesitation and ended up spending over 2,200 yuan. But what truly bothered me was the initial rejection and the selective enforcement of the minimum charge, implying that I was being judged based on my appearance or nationality. If the restaurant was truly full, why was I offered a table once I confirmed I would spend a significant amount? 2. Misleading Room Upgrade Offer & Hidden Promotions When I checked in, I had already booked a suite with a city view for around 4,000 yuan. However, the receptionist tried to upsell me a Pearl Tower view for an additional 3,300 yuan, which is an unreasonable price just for a different view. What’s worse is that she failed to inform me about an existing hotel promotion: (cant remember the amount exactly) If I pre-purchased 1,000 yuan, I could use 1,400 yuan at Flair rooftop restaurant. I only found out about this the next day and when I asked whether I could retroactively apply this promotion to my bill (which was charged to my room), I was told it was not possible because I had to buy the package in advance. Had I known about this offer beforehand, I would have gladly used it. Instead, the staff prioritized upselling me a more expensive view rather than informing me of real benefits available to hotel guests. 3. Concierge Service & Taxi Nightmare The service at the concierge was another major disappointment. I had a reservation at a Chinese restaurant across the river and asked the concierge to arrange a taxi for me. Knowing that taxis in Shanghai can be unreliable and tricky (as I had experienced the night before with an airport taxi taking me to three wrong hotels and turning off the meter), I was relieved when the concierge used Didi (a ride-hailing app) to book a ride. However, when the car arrived, the concierge instructed a bellboy to walk me to the car, but he never confirmed whether it was actually mine. Just as the door was closing, a woman with luggage rushed in, claiming it was her ride to the airport. It turned out the car was not for me but for an entirely different passenger! At this point, I was already late for my dinner reservation. When I walked back to the concierge to ask what happened, he seemed irritated and dismissively said, ”Don’t worry” before reluctantly walking me to the correct car. This lack of professionalism and carelessness was incredibly frustrating. If you’re arranging a ride for a guest, ensure they get into the correct car. Final Thoughts This all happened in just one night—I can't imagine what else could go wrong during my stay. I sincerely hope no other guests have to go through such an experience. The Ritz-Carlton brand is known for its luxury and top-tier hospitality, but what I encountered was discriminatory treatment, misleading sales tactics, and poor service coordination. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and improves their service, ensuring all guests receive fair and professional treatment, regardless of their appearance or nationality. Ps: nice swimming pool by the way!!

I had a great time during this stay. This hotel feels wonderful. From the entrance to check-in, everything was excellent. Jack Max from the concierge and Kaya at the front desk were both very nice.

The place was great, spotless, clean and classy. We had breakfast with our reservation, the buffet was including a lot of options. They put a small cake in our room since it is our anniversary.

Beautiful hotel with well designed lobby and rooms. The location is fantastic, right in the heart of Jing An. Staff are super professional, very attentive and look after you well. One downside is a fundamental for a hotel, we didn’t get one good nights sleep. The beds are great but the room was too warm, even in early spring when the temperature was still low outside. However, the air con was very loud, even on low setting, so to sleep you either had the noise or it was too hot. One night there was also very loud road construction noise from outside from 3-5am. It’s a city, so this happens but other hotels in Shanghai that we’ve been to before seem to make it their business to know and take proactive measures in like informing and apologizing to guests in advance, putting guests in rooms away from the noise, or at least providing earplugs.

The Bund is a very nice location and the Hyatt is a beautiful hotel with the 32nd Vue Bar and a spectacular view it is!! Very clean, beautiful lobby and restaurant on 2nd floor. The restaurant offers a buffet very large and delectable selection of food, specialty items, desserts and variety is incredible! Enjoyed the ice cream bar! Great service, too! Staff attentive, and the Spa offered a very nice massage treatment with body scrub and essential oils for a relaxing treatment after a very long flight! My blood was circulating again and the firm pressure of Momo, was certainly very good! I am a new World of Hyatt member after this stay!

Excellent Service and Location My family of 5 had an exceptional experience at this hotel, thanks to the personalized service from Yeri. She provided a thorough explanation of the room details upon our arrival and was also very responsive to any additional requests via her WeChat. The housekeeping service was also outstanding. We always returned to our room to find everything impeccably arranged, and our clothes neatly folded—something that most hotels don’t offer. It really added to the comfort and care during our stay. The hotel was also very accommodating, accepting all my Taobao purchases without hesitation. While the location on Nanjing Pedestrian Street means cars can’t drop off directly at the hotel, the staff is stationed nearby to assist with luggage, which made things easier. Prime Location The hotel is ideally situated on the famous Nanjing East Road, just a 2-minute walk from Nanjing East Station Exit 2. It's close to popular tourist attractions like Yu Garden and Xin Tian Di. There are also many delicious eateries and trendy, internet-famous restaurants in the area, such as 莱莱小龙, 蟹叁宝 and 沈大成, making it a perfect destination for food lovers. Clean and Comfortable Room The room was spotless, with fresh bedding and high-quality toiletries from Le Labo, a renowned perfume brand. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel for its excellent service, great location, and top-notch facilities.

I tried to check in at 2pm, was informed that the room was not ready for at least 1 more hour. Asked the receptionist for a restaurant, and instead of pointing out the ones from the hotel, she sent me to Yu Gardens... Come back after an hour and was informed that I need to wait for another 30 min at least. I was given a voucher for a soft drink, and I headed to the lounge to get this drink, I showed the voucher to lady and she said for me to have a cold tea that I agreed. At 3:35 stand up to get my key and the waitress ask me to pay for the tea, I pointed out that I got a voucher and she said that voucher was not good for cold tea and I need to pay aroung 230RMB for a tea I didn't want at the beginning, I was there just for the absurd waiting time for the room to be ready! I asked the manager, and they said no need and they would take care... Arrived in room 1771, a well-appointed room, tried to make a coffee, and the machine was not working... I called the concierge and informed about the machine, after 5 min a lady call me to offer me a bottle.of wine, that I declined as I don't drink offer fruit and at the end an upgrade to the room, I went to the toilet and left the room at 16:00 as I had a meeting. I arrived at the meeting with sweaty clothes and without taking a shower as I got the room over 90 minutes later... I received the key of the new room before I left, when I come back I tried to use the key but was not active, i headed back to reception to check what happened and they activated but didn't apologise for the mistake. The new room had a view of the Bund, so there was no upgrade of the room itseld was just an upgrade of the view... The hotel is nice, has good amenities, and breakfast is solid, fresh, but not as much choice as compared to Shangri-la Pudong. The pool changing room and showers need better cleaning and mantenience. The people at the reception and at the lounge need better training and level up their English to a better standard, hotel is 5 star, experience is far from it.

Here is my review for Sukhothai shanghai: I recently stayed at The Sukhothai Shanghai, and overall, it was a wonderful experience. The hotel exudes elegance, the staff was incredibly welcoming and attentive, and the room was impeccably clean. Every detail, from the ambiance to the amenities, was well thought out, making for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. However, my only issue was the bed and bedding. Unfortunately, I found the mattress to be less comfortable than expected, and the bed sheets didn’t feel as cozy as they should in a hotel of this caliber. I kept waking up throughout the night, which definitely affected my rest. Overall, I would still recommend the hotel—just with a note that the bed and bedding may not be for everyone.

I stayed here with my family for 2 nights because we came to see Sunset Boulevard. The hotel was perfectly located to get to the theatre and close to other sightseeing spots too. The service at the hotel was great, we enjoyed the room and the breakfast buffet, and the Mediterranean Brunch at the Spanish restaurant was delicious. The price was also great for the location and quality. I’ll definitely be back, especially if I come to see another show in the same theater.
