Hotel location is 15 minutes walk from the city, but because it is all ups and downs, it is still a little tired, the hotel hardware is good, but the last day from 11:00 the next day - 12:00 the next day, the hotel has no hot water, no summer What is the feeling of hot water bathing, I realized it, and called the hotel to answer the water stop in the whole building.

My experience at this hotel was very traumatic. Extremely Racist staff. Firstly the man didn’t allow us to use the washing machine. Then he walked strait into the room we were renting and spoke to my kids and said no noise allowed, at 10am in the morning. When confronted about children and how play can be fun and noisy he told us to go be quiet or leave. This hotel does not like Aboriginal people. It was very obvious with comments made and the bullying experienced by us. Other people in the hotel with children do not experience this bullying by the owner. When I phoned the day before we arrived he said we have washing powder you and that we do not need to bring any. We arrived and he took one look at us and said oh you will have to go buy your own washing powder. Today we experienced my special needs son be discriminated against. I attempted to provide an awareness of why my special needs son required additional support and from time to time it can challenging. The owner simply snarled and said what ever. This is the level of unprofessional consumer service you will get staying here. When my sister suggested with the the owner that she would contact the obbudsman and human rights commission the man simple laughed and snickled oh bring it on. Mind you this was all because my children were playing inside our rented hotel room at 10am in the morning. Very unprofessional, very arrogant, this hotel does not apply code of ethics for the consumers at all. He is a bully that likes to take accomodation funding for families needing to access the close by hospital. Very rude and very racist. This hotel is a human rights commission complaint waiting to happen. The owner was quick to apply for the hospital funding three days ago when we need some close to the hospital to stay , so that we could be close to our daughter in hospital, how ever once the hotel receives the accomodation allowance from QLD Health , the owner then bullies and harasses consumers. The owner actually physically pushed the door open and walked into our hotel room and raised his voice at my children whilst I was in the back of the hotel room doing some thing. The owners resolution and method of communication is arrogant and undermines any ethical or professional manner of resolving maters. Why accept children and a mother to a hotel then when we arrive he gives us a one queen size bedroom that mum and 3 children have to sleep in together. So many flaws in this hotel. So illegal.

It was a heavy wind and rain that night, and the sound of the waves was very noisy because it was facing the sea.

We stayed here the night before leaving on a cruise that was leaving from the International Cruise Terminal. The main reason we chose this hotel was its close proximity to Roma Street Station as we caught the train from the airport. While it is close to the train station it is located at the top of a reasonable hill and it took a bit of effort to navigate the way to the top, apart from the effort. Several escalators/lifts and then a steep path with no real directions on which way to go. I thought I would be able to see the hotel to give me an idea which way but had to resort to Google Maps to find the way. Unfortunately we were on an early flight into Brisbane so as it was 09:30AM I was not expecting our room to be ready but just needed to store our bags so we good do some exploring. As expected, our room was not ready but the guy behind the counter checked me in, stored our bags and advised that the hotel was busy and our room would not be ready until about 02:00PM. No worries we will be back. We arrived back at 01:00PM and our room was still not ready and waited in the foyer till 02:00PM as previously discussed. Reception gave me our keys and we proceeded to our room on Level 1, or so I thought……..room card would not let me use the lift. Back to reception to have the card re-coded. On entry to our room, it was reasonably spacious and looked clean and reasonably comfortable. Décor a bit dated, but functional. We had a rather large balcony but we could not use it as there was no furniture so the balcony was wasted. Bathroom was small but functional, bit dated but appeared clean. It was only after we used the toilet several times that we noticed water on the floor. We ignored it for quite a while as we thought we had spilt water on the floor but it was not till the next morning that I realised it was coming from under the toilet. I reported it to reception on checkout. As we were tired from our early start we chose to order room service. While we knew how much it was going to cost it was very expensive. Two hamburgers and chips over $70. A bit steep, but as we were so tired we paid so we did not have to go out. The hamburgers were good by the way, but still way too expensive. Overall, this hotel was OK, but the room was supposed to be a superior room. OK. I would hate to be in a Standard Room………..as the room was pretty average for a Superior. After reading some of the other reviews the price we paid was fair and the location is good, just not when you have to push two big suitcases that we were taking on a cruise up the hill from the station. PS. It cost us $73 in the taxi to get to the Cruise Terminal.

There were multiple issues throughout our stay and my partner and I left early to go to another hotel. I am aware that Punthill are currently undergoing renovations, and I appreciate the challenges associated with this. However, I do feel that our experience was unacceptable. Our allocated apartment smelt strongly of fresh paint, had paint splatters on the carpet, no cupboard, and a loud sound when the toilet was flushed. We requested to move to another apartment, which was granted. We spent one night in that subsequent apartment, and were woken at 6am to tradespeople sanding the wall in the room next to us. Punthill staff then asked us to move apartments, because the apartment that they had shifted us into was to be painted over the weekend. In our third apartment, the dishwasher was full of dirty dishes from the previous guests. We were kept up until almost 2am by a loud event in the apartment next to us, and threatened by one of those guests when we asked them to quieten down. We had to call the afterhours Punthill number to request security attendance. We were fed up by this point and switched to another hotel. We won’t stay at Punthill again.

Stephen and Sean are absolutely welcoming, friendly and gave me much advice on how to move around during my stay. The rooms are comfortable and the price is very good for the area - the place is in a perfect spot for hitting the city. Recommended and i would surely be back in case i happened in Brisbane.
