Novotel Berlin Mitte

Berlin|2.53km from The Bargain Book Shop
In summary: Superb breakfast, good rooms, pretty good location (but there are better in Berlin), a few details could be improved. Good value for money. Accor has a huge range of hotels in Berlin, this is for them a midrange offering. The rooms are of reasonable size, I had a huge bathroom, minibar and room safe. Very clean. Bed surprisingly comfortable. Free wifi good enough for video streaming (there's also 'premium wifi' you can pay for). TV and heating controls fussy. Shower gel holder in the bathroom remained empty throughout my four day stay though there was liquid soap by the sink. Reading lights in room below average. Reception friendly, a little chaotic. The hotel restaurant is open in the evenings, snacks and drinks available after hours. Locked luggage storage next to reception. Breakfast is really nice - great coffee and fruit juice, all the rest as you would expect including some cold fish dishes. One level below an 'omelette bar' status but still pretty good for this price level of hotel. Location in Berlin Mitte is pretty good - they're two U-Bahn stations and several bus stops within a few minutes' walk, even though some of the bus schedules are a bit disappointing. Nikolaiviertel is 5 minutes walk away and if you increase your walking time to 15 minutes you can get to Alexanderplatz and Museuminsel easily enough. There are better location hotels in Mitte but it's quite OK really. Good value for money; rates vary quite a bit by day of the week (so if your travel days are flexible play around with your stay dates). I generally stay either more downmarket or more upmarket than this but it's interesting to see how a midrange hotel works - quite OK, though as often in this category of hotel proactive detail management doesn't get priority. I would recommend.

The room (63, 5th floor) exceeded our expectations by being more spacious and more comfortable. The beds were really comfy, room was very quiet, the built in blinders on the windows make the room pitch black. Breakfast choice could have been better but manageable. The hotel location for us was quite comfortable to reach from the airport, near by are several restaurants and cafes. Directions given by the hotel staff: how to get to hotel from Schönefeld Airport, first walk to the airport station and buy an ABC ticket from the machine (EUR 3.40 - change will be useful) You have to validate the ticket by stamping it (there is a box with a slit either on or just before the platform) Then you have 2 possibilities. 1. Take the S9 train from platform 11 to S Greifswalder Strasse and then change to the M4 tram direction S Hackescher Markt. Get off at the second stop 'Hufelandstrasse' 2. Take either the RB14 train (platform 6) or the RE7 train (platform 4) to Alexanderplatz and change to the M4 tram direction Falkenberg or Zingster Strasse. Get out at the fourth stop 'Hufelandstrasse' Walk along Greifswalder Strasse and turn right into Immanuelkirchstr. You will find our driveway on the left hand side at number 14a. Take the elevator to the 3rd floor and you have arrived. On the down size: Pillow was quite strange-just a flat square slightly fluffy thing. And the TV is way too microscopic for this room :)

Generator Berlin Alexanderplatz

The hostel is very dirty. All the surfaces are sticky. There is a terrible stench in the rooms, toilets, corridors and lobby. Things forgotten by the previous tenants are lying around until they are thrown away by the current tenants. Mattresses are stained with brown stains, possibly menstrual blood (I was in the women's room). The pillows are crumpled and terribly uncomfortable. The beds stand so you can't fully open the window to air it out. The lobby is very noisy and smelly too, apparently there is no ventilation or it is blocked. Absolutely not recommended, even for 25€ a night! It's too much for this place.

I really liked this little boutique hotel. It was very, very clean and EXTREMELY quiet!!!!! I ABSOLUTELY LOVE PEACE AND QUIET at a hotel, which is difficult to have. The room was classic European; quaint, small and was very clean - no dust anywhere and I appreciate that. The windows in the room REALLY kept any outside noise out. I thought there were birds in the area because I couldn't hear them! When opened the windows, I heard them. That's just how good they were at keeping the noise out. I did LOVE the church bells however. I opened the windows and recorded them when I could, they sounded so pretty. The water was wonderfully hot and the the spray was strong and felt so good against my skin. The water was soft and didn't dry my skin out like the water in the area I live in in the states. The hotel staff was very courteous and always kind. I am American and am HIGHLY fond of European breakfast! The breakfast here did not disappoint to me. The beds were lovely and just the right amount of firmness for me. I would definitely stay here again. The chocolate croissants were to die for! I hate I missed them on my last day.

Stayed for two nights, the sheets were fine, the towels were not replaced, the breakfast was at the same price, and the other stores in the boutique hotel were worse. The quality of the service staff was also the same. The waiter in the restaurant would not care about you except for greetings. The front desk was friendly, but not professional. Especially a woman, emotional management ability let me suspect that she has mental problems, I politely ask printing, she will not play, stuck in one of the steps, in fact, say that she will not do it, she suddenly raised the tone, very loud repeat: this is where I will not! Repeated several times, people who didn't know thought I quarreled with her... How can people with emotional management skills work at the front desk of a hotel that claims to be a 4-star hotel? I felt too outrageous anyway and scared me.

Very just hotel and everything above expectation! Basic rooms but from entrance to toilet, from toilet to walk, from walk to hotel room...all fire clean! The rooms are equipped with a bed, TV, desk and stop contacts, so everything you need during a city trip. The toilet and showers were at the gang and very accessible. The showers are clean and give good and warm water. Friendly staff and everything well explained. In the range of public transport, which you bring to all points in Berlin. A recommendation and city trip visitors.

Came to Berlin for a long weekend with my family, unfortunately the hotel they booked was horrendous and more of a hostel- without sounding like a spoilt brat I couldn’t stay in such a tiny cramped room with 4 other people so I decided to try to book a hotel nearby. Managed to book hotel Adele on booking.com for about €150 for Thursday-Sunday. I arrived late on Thursday so had to use the key box, unsure if it’s due to the time of the trip being affected by COVID but the hotel was eerily quiet and I do wonder if there were any other guests! I was just by myself and was pleasantly surprised by my room, bathroom with a bath, shower, sink and toilet (nice shower gel, body lotion and soap was also provided). I had a tv with a double bed and the Art Deco theme is nice- I really enjoyed the aesthetic of the place. Found the corridors a bit creepy, particularly at night coming back alone, room could have done with a floor length mirror, didn’t see any staff during my stay and the teas were not restocked during my stay but for the price at such short notice I can’t complain and would recommend hotel Adele!
