Clifton Bristol|0.32km from Forbidden Planet Bristol
Stayed here for two nights in September 2022. The staff are very friendly. The hotel is on the edge of Clifton, which appears to be a very affluent area. A twenty minute walk will take to to the Clifton suspension bridge to take in some lovely views. The bridge visitor centre and observation tower are well worth visiting. The number 8 bus which you get around the corner takes you into Bristol city centre in around 15/20 minutes, so all in all, a good location. The hotel offers a substantial free cooked and buffet breakfast which is why I am awarding it three stars. You will need to book a time slot. Now the not so good…………… Our room was on the ground floor and needs a refurb. A rotten window frame, mould in the shower and on the bathroom ceiling, a hole in the net curtain, an uneven wobbly floor and cobwebs hanging from the ceiling were not a great look. The bed and towels were clean, but despite the fact I was there for two nights and a couple of small towels were left on the floor, they weren’t changed, even though someone had clearly been into our room to provide biscuits for our tea and coffee (which i add, was a lovely gesture). Neither was our bed made. Now I realise the management will say if we had complained, we may have been moved, but that’s not the point. That room (room 11), would have been provided to another guest or guests if we had been moved. It just needs a refurb and then perhaps the next guest would give the hotel four stars. Really enjoyed Bristol. First time I have visited, but found it really interesting. Lots to see and do and the people are very friendly.

Channings Hotel by Greene King Inns

Channings hotel is a lovely period building situated in Clifton, a smart area of Bristol. It is close to the Suspension Bridge, the shops and bars, and a short walk into the city. Our room was small but had all we needed. The staff were excellent. Friendly and helpful and dealt with everything efficiently. The breakfast was good, as was the pub food. Great value in an expensive area. Car parking can be tricky.

Booked one of the Mews houses for us, our daughter and her boyfriend to stay in on the night of the night of her graduation. It was perfect. 2 bedrooms plenty large enough, both can be set up with large double bed or twins. One is ensuite and there's a separate bathroom. Robes, slippers and L'Occitane toiletries provided. The bedrooms and utility room are downstairs with a good sized open plan living area upstairs. Fairly well equipped kitchen as far as I could tell. ( we didn't cook but I checked). Furnishings and fittings are obviously fairly new and everything is good quality and the whole place was spotless. In short we absolutely couldn't fault it. Our only regret? That we weren't staying longer. For anyone looking for accommodation near the University of Bristol it's close and I'd absolutely recommend this place

Had a short stay very recently and I must say it fit my needs perfectly. The room was incredibly clean, very comfy bed, not to mention the great location of the hotel. Special thanks to Miguel who was incredibly helpful during my stay, made the whole process a breeze and had some wonderful recommendations of some local spots to visit!

Visited to settle offspring into University. The best feature for me was the small lockable hotel garage, which meant a car full of student ‘stuff’ could be safely left overnight- gave tremendous peace of mind. Staff were really friendly and helpful. There was a reliable lift. Racks restaurant also had responsive, efficient staff, and the food was palatable. I expected the location to be much quieter than was the case, there was a lot of noise from outside, including happy drunks and traffic. Whiteladies road, with a wide choice of cafes and restaurants is within walking distance and Clifton village and The Downs a short drive away. On-road parking is mainly permit for residents and pay & display parking is extremely limited. We booked single rooms for a short stay, but they were extremely small, so if staying longer, you would definitely want a larger room. Overall, a good place. The secure parking was the outstanding feature for me.

It was a nice hotel on the whole, but the room had water/damp stains on the wall and could have been cleaned better (few hairs and dust etc). Staff were all very friendly and the facilities were average, as you would expect from a budget hotel.
