I had a lovely experience at Hotel Verdi, however there were a few things that definitely could have improved my stay. I stayed in room 412 and although this was a side sea view room, it was the furthest inland and there was practically no sea view. There was a derelict building opposite and building work going on next door so unfortunately I didn't feel comfortable sitting out on the balcony. There was also very loud drilling that started from about 7am most days from the construction work next door, I'm not sure how long it will be going on for but it was quite uncomfortable at times. The room was lovely, neat and very clean but did smell of smoke which I noticed straight away (this may have been due to the construction work happening nearby or due to the location but the smell lingered throughout my entire stay). The room was also cleaned daily. The staff were lovely, polite and attentive, although as I was checking in, a man had a question about his room as I was being attended to and the receptionist decided to tend to him as I stood there for quite a while waiting for my room key. However the staff in the restaurant were excellent during the breakfast service. The food at breakfast was fine for me as I don't like to eat too much in the mornings- there were hot and cold options, including eggs, cereals, baked goods and delicious coffees. The restaurant is quite small but well stocked. The location is amazing! Right on the waterfront with a plethora of restaurants and bars within walking distance, mainly with daily happy hour. There were also convenience shops nearby for water/snacks to keep in your room and I loved that the tea and coffee sachets were topped up daily. The location was one of the best things about this hotel- close to everything, especially the ferry to Valletta which was about an 8 minute walk down the harbour. The sunsets on the harbour were beautiful and I loved walking along the *****, admiring the boats and people watching in the sunshine. For restaurants, I suggest Punto which is right opposite the hotel and Storie & Sapori (the calzone was 10/10). There are also lots of shops in Sliema which are about a 10 minute walk away and more bars/restaurants to indulge in. There are many boat trip vendors along the harbour and loads of trip options if you'd like a sightseeing day out during your stay. I had emailed the hotel before my stay to confirm my reservation as this was birthday treat, I didn't receive a response and had to email again. I think it would have been a nice touch to receive welcome drinks or a little treat as this was a birthday trip- however I did not expect anything. It was a little disheartening to read that others had received room decorations upon their arrival but that did not distract from my pleasant stay at Hotel Verdi. I would recommend this hotel to others, especially solo travellers as I did feel safe during my stay, however a seaview room is definitely needed and I would suggest wel
