From the minute you arrive at Cliff at Lyons, you are greeted with courteous polite and friendly staff. In fact, our stay from beginning to end was exemplary. We started overnight in the Ryan Suite, which overlooks the fountain. It’s lovely to lie in bed listening to the water and the birds singing first thing in the morning. It’s so peaceful. The room was spotless, well equipped and a lovely large comfortable bed. We went to their restaurant for dinner and sampled absolutely delicious cuisine. The restaurant manager was well informed on the menu and wine, suggesting different dishes and being well informed on the menu. He also asked about allergies. We tried the pigeon, beef and cod. All were cooked to perfection. Starters right through to coffee was an exceptional culinary experience! Their staff are well trained and friendly. After dinner we strolled back to our suite through the ambient lit gravel path. Just beautiful. There is not one negative thing I can say about this place. It really is an incredible experience from start to finish. Top marks to the establishment for providing such a wonderful experience!

Beautiful location for a weekend birthday break with friends. Staff were very helpful. Breakfast in the Orangery was a very good standard but the room was a little warm and we enjoyed our dinner in the Mill the evening before. Lovely grounds and nice walks in the area and the rooms were large and comfortable. Weather can be an issue as the rooms, restaurant and bar are all located in different buildings and we got very wet moving between the buildings but the staff were helpful providing umbrellas and heaters to help us dry off. The weather the next day was lovely so we could enjoy the grounds. Very convenient from Dublin and it felt like a magical getaway.

Dust and dead flies lingered on the shelves in public areas, putting a damper on the charm. While I appreciate the effort put into these displays, a more thorough cleaning is essential. The disappointment continued in the restaurant. Dirty windows and cobwebs around the arches were an unpleasant sight. To top it all off, insects were spotted crawling around the dinner table. The food itself was good, but the lack of attention to hygiene overshadowed the experience. I had high hopes for Cliff at Lyons, and the setting itself is undeniably beautiful. However, considering the premium associated with the property, the cleanliness issues were a major turn-off. Unfortunately, I wouldn't feel comfortable recommending it to others based on this experience.

Spectacular location, quality of Beef and Lamb superb, starters very disappointing, sides average, service poor. Beautiful house and gardens but won’t be in a hurry to return, table service training is very much needed here, not good enough.
