Wyndham hotels are always a great choice. I look for this brand whenever traveling. This location did not disappoint on service and cleanliness. The morning breakfast makes it a plus when needing to stay for work purposes.
The Inn at Middleton Place

This was no doubt at one time a wonderful Inn. Now unfortunately it is showing it’s age and has an air of neglect about it. There were several positives: very spacious accommodations, lovely grounds and easy walk ability to the formal Gardens of Middleton Place, view from our second floor room looked like we were in a tree house elevated along the canopy of the Oaks. This weekend trip was a belated birthday present from my husband and he bought a package. There was a huge, gorgeous flower arrangement in the room along with a cold bottle of Prosecco in the frig. The package included dinner at the Middleto Place restaurant which was lovely. Now for the reason for the 3 stars. This is a very expensive place to go for a weekend but I don’t mind the money if everything is appropriate for the cost. Our first impression when we entered the room was that it smelled strongly of bug spray. And that smell lingered all weekend. But even with that we had a couple infamous Palmetto bugs in various states of death throes and the little inch worms and flying bugs that seemed like fire flies didn’t seem phased by the spray. When we shared this with the desk the response was, well we are in the woods. The windows take up an entire wall and would be stunning if they were cleaned. Again the woods and humidity must make it challenging but for the price I would expect more. The paneling was showing its age as well and the sofa and overstuffed chair. The room was huge and we could have danced but it only had a queen sized bed which looked smaller because of the room size. The mattress sank terribly in the middle and every time one of us moved we ended back up in the middle. A breakfast buffet was included and it was also a bit neglected. On the bright side it looked like they were renovating the unit next to us so hopefully they will return this place to its original glory. I would try it again if I knew it was in an updated room, and during the off season when prices are better.

We ended up here in the late afternoon of very long day of trying to get back home, after an otherwise great 5 days in Charleston. Our extended family of 6 had our flight delayed 5 hours, then until the following day, so we were eager to get off our feet and settled somewhere near the airport until the next morning. We were incredibly fortunate to walk through the doors here and meet Joy, who quickly found us three rooms on a moment’s notice. She went out of her way to make our experience by the best part of a tiring, stressful day, and even found us a larger suite where our two young kids could have their own room. There were plenty of dining options around, including within walking distance, which we took advantage of. There’s also a shuttle to the airport that will also make local trips to other restaurants/destinations. We didn’t end up needing it to get to dinner, but had already returned our rental car, so if we had it would have been a huge help. There was also a wine & cheese social hour happening in the lobby when we got back from an early dinner, which was a pleasant surprise. If I needed to stay close to the airport again in the future, either as a family or on business travel, this would be the place. Thanks again to Joy in particular, for completely turning a difficult travel day around!

I stayed here two nights in June 2022. A Thursday and Monday. The weekend rates more than doubled and was out of my budget so did not sleep there Friday and Saturday. The staff was friendly, and helpful with questions to get to the beaches. The breakfast was good, though they were out of orange juice one morning, and struggled to keep up with the demand for eggs, plastic ware and muffins. The food itself was good and many people were there. Ice machine on 2nd and 3rd floor worked great. 1st floor was out. Has elevator, and stairs are easy to use. The rooms were very comfortable, the WIFI worked as long as you were checked in. I stayed in lobby a little after checking out, but my wifi password would no longer work. The pool was cold. I tried to get in, but couldn't force myself. That is the only negative i found about the hotel itself. Not enough to reduce my rating. I don't stay in a lot of high end hotels, so rating is for hotels in this price range. It was close to highway, but you couldn't hear traffic. There is an econolodge right behind the property, and a few homeless wander the area a bit. I found a homeless person sitting beside this hotel when I came in one afternoon, but he was gone when i got back by evening. I suspect they typically hang out by the econolodge, but my vehicle was never bothered. It is a non-smoking hotel and you can tell. It was wonderful to not have the sprays that try to hide smoke smell. very happy with my stay here. I felt safe all the time i was there and would gladly stay there again.
