Macdonald New Blossoms Hotel

Chester|0.14km from The Dean Addleshaw Tower
My husband & I stayed at this hotel in Chester on 6-7th Sept. We were originally supposed to stay 4th-6th but due to car problems at home, we'd had to phone on the morning of each of the first 2 days to cancel the first 2 nights. We finally arrived on the afternoon of 6th for what was supposed to be the last night of our original booking. Check-in was friendly & efficient, & even though we'd arrived earlier than the official check-in time, we were immediately checked in with no problems. Even better, when paying we were most pleasantly surprised to find that hadn't been charged for the previous 2 nights that we'd had to cancel....no quibble, no arguments, no question! (I'd naturally assumed that we'd lost that money, which was a couple of 100 quid, especially as we'd only cancelled the morning of the same day we were supposed to arrive, ie less than 24hrs notice!). So we decided to stay an extra night with the saved £££. Our room was nicely decorated, clean, tea & coffee facilities, comfy bed etc. When we left to go exploring, Reception rang my mobile to say there had unfortunately been a mix up with the room, & someone else had actually already reserved & checked into it before us (the Receptionist that had checked him in was a trainee, & had forgotten!). Many apologies on their part, & asked if we minded changing rooms....no problem I said, sh*t happens. Anyway, they moved our belongings for us & informed us that as compensation, we would be upgraded to a suite! Well! It was lovely (Room 220), had a separate sitting room with TV & sofa, bedroom had a mahoosive bed (which was so so comfy), bathrobes & slippers provided, TV also in bedroom, Elemis toiletries. V tastefully decorated, & at the back of the hotel so no street noise. The building itself was apparently built as a hotel sometime in the 1600s so is very old & quaint, it's a beautiful building. The staff are excellent, nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast let it down slightly (tho the staff worked very hard & again, were polite & nothing was too much trouble), but there were items missing from the full English (namely beans & black pud), & the continential option was a little limited (eg only orange juice offered, eg no apple or cranberry, no milk options, limited cereals, no jams). You also have to reserve your breakfast time the night before. It's also worth noting that this hotel doesn't do evening meals, though there is a bar & I believe they do do afternoon teas. Tho this is not a problem as there are many restaurants close by. Water fountains are available in the corridors, & a jug provided in your room for you to fill up...much better than plastic bottles of water, it's a great idea. Special shout out to Stephie on Reception, she is a credit to the hotel...helpful, friendly, efficient & professsional with every interaction, she really made a difference to our whole stay. Hotel is a stone's throw from the famous Chester clock, & it couldn't be more central, ver

Oddfellows Chester Hotel & Apartments

Checking in at the main Oddfellows hotel was smooth but it would have helped to have the exact address of the apartment in advance, so we could park more easily. There is one parking space at the apartment but it is a tight entrance! Apartment 5 was upstairs and very spacious. The lounge/kitchen/diner was well set up and the tea and coffee available was very welcome. Bedrooms and bathrooms were large, comfy and clean (but could do with a few hooks for towels or coats). There is even a laundry room. Decof is quirky and the location is great - just off the main streets. Fabulous place to stay.

We were a group of 10 girls and were assured of 5 twin rooms when one of us rang hotel but this was not provided on check in The bar lacked any atmosphere and staff lacked any personality My friend accidentally knocked over her expensive glass of wine untouched and was not offered a replacement she had to pay again Not an expected response from a big chain hotel On the positive side housekeeping staff were excellent looking after our needs and providing us with glasses and ice buckets as we were celebrating two milestone birthdays Rooms were comfortable and clean and a decent size

Great Hotel, with lovely rooms ( I tad dated for some tastes). Service was first class, with a lovely meal in the brasserie eaten. Breakfast is high standard with good old table service, the brasserie is a lovely room for meals. Wife had a massage in the spa, which was one of the best she had had! Car park near Hotel, cases taken to room, staff very friendly and more than happy to help. Location right in the middle of Chester for close access to shops, Bars and restaurants Only Negative, Breakfast could have been hotter. And added service charges to bill automatically. Drinks are very expensive, but to be expected for a 5 start Hotel
Hotel Indigo Chester

My partner had booked Hotel Indigo as a surprise for my 50th birthday. We arrived on the Friday eve to a warm welcome. Our room followed a race course theme and was tastefully decorated. We dined out on the first eve, exploring the city of Chester but decided to reserve a table on the second night. My sons and their partners joined us on the second night (again a surprise that was well kept)! And we had the most amazing evening of fabulous food. The family sampled the steaks as I enjoyed the chicken and the staff couldn’t do enough to ensure we had everything we needed. Thanks to a very special waitress - who recommended a wedding venue to us too as my partner had proposed earlier in the week on my actual birthday and so it was a double celebration. Our experience of breakfast on both mornings was friendly and staff really wanted to make sure we were well looked after. Hotel Indigo manages to find the balance between relaxed attentiveness and fantastic service in a beautiful setting. Thank you.
