Reviewed whilst there and wish to add more detail. Attractive hotel in a quiet area, but too quiet in the stormy weather we experienced. Hotel maintenance poor in some places: wet room extractors, indoor pool, and stair hand rail. Food was excellent at the start of our week BUT deteriorated towards the end: juice at breakfast tasteless, bacon under cooked & greasy (not crisp), griddled beef tough. . . Room shower silicon very mouldy - such a disappointment. We were offered a change of room after 3 days, but declined because of the inconvenience. Surely NOT to much to expect the shower to be cleaned. Barcelo Customer service manager sent a bottle of Cava and cakes as "compensation". An attempt was made to clean the shower in the indoor pool area but not very effective. Reception staff communication poor: unaware that the ferry to Isla Cristina had ended for the season..... when advised, did not pass this information on to other team members or travel reps. NOT the relaxing holiday we needed.

Didn’t ruin the holiday but the hotel was the worst part of it. Pool was too cold to use properly, a lot of food choice but often poor quality, all inclusive drinks were awful, snack bar was a shambles. Good location right next to the beach and a few bars, helpful reception staff and room was clean and comfy. Would stay at the Melia or Iberostar if we went back to the area again.

Hotel lovely food good, one comment to make at 12 at night in main bar entertainment has just finished the security guard came up to me and my husband told us drink up and leave now, as a couple 60 plus who wasn't drunk just sitting down finishing our drink was completely over the top, he was rude and throwing his weight around, he was walking around doing the same to other people, it's a hotel not a night club they had a singer on that night,, I was completely shocked, so after that we didn't go into the main bar we stayed away, not what I you want to do when you pay to go away, we got our drinks and sat outside or in reception area after that

Overall a good place to stay. Be aware that the ‘all inclusive’ is not as all inclusive as one would imagine. Anything other than basic drinks or snack are chargeable (although at discounted rate) However the choice and quality of the food in the buffet restaurant is excellent.

All in all- great hotel! Friendly staff, lovely, varied food with plenty of choices including vegetarian and fish. Lots of fresh fruit and salad. We heard people complaining but honestly I couldn’t fault it. Hotel itself is beautiful, kept spotlessly clean. Swimming pool is cold but that’s to be expected in may. Stunning, long sandy beach just across the road from the hotel. We took a walk every day especially after dinner to enjoy stunning sunset. On slightly negative side- hire bikes were not available due to”low season “! But there are other places across the road that you can rent a bike. The actual area is a bit remote, only few shops, eating places and bars within the walking distance. Great ice cream parlour and a nice beach bar. You can catch a bus to Ayamonte 2 min walk from the hotel. Worth a visit for some shopping. We hired a car for 2 days and visited Seville but stayed overnight as it’s too far to do it in a day. Perfect place to relax and chill and I’d thoroughly recommend it if you’re looking for something off the bitten track without hassle and bustle of a big touristy resort.

If you love sun, sea and sand then this is a perfect destination. But if, on the other hand, you also want to stroll a bit on the boulevard, then you are out of luck because there is nothing to do at all on the beach or in the town.

We were happy to spend our vacation in this hotel. The service was definitely great and the staff were friendly. We were impressed by the variety of food and drinks - every dish and drink was delicious. There is a large beach within walking distance, which was nice to spend time on. The hotel had organized daytime and evening leisure activities in a great way, including water, sports activities, etc. Also we were very happy to get a present from the staff with my lover – a bottle of sparkling wine. The hotel is definitely worth visiting again!

A really high quality resort. Beautifully laid out and maintained. Excellent pool areas with more than enough sun loungers provided for guests. Rooms are very well maintained, if somewhat basic, with top quality bathrooms. Bars are good and reasonably priced. Buffet restaurant is of a good standard considering that it is catering for several hundred guests. Note that the location (Isla Canela) is very quiet, so it's a place to go if you want to relax and chill!. Don't expect to be partying or doing a lot of local trips! Oh, and the Barcelo rolls out totally nuts evening entertainment each day!

We landed in a hurricane and arrived to floods. I have to say that the hotel acted to clear up the damage very efficiently. I have read in other reviews that staff are not friendly. That is just not true. We found all of the staff very friendly. It is true that they don't all speak English. However why should they. One of the nice things about the hotel is that it's clientele are multicultural. Whilst we were there, there were people from Spain, Germany, France and Belgium as well as some English. The Hotel itself is very pretty. It is Andalusian in style in the main areas and the lovely garden's are reminiscent of the Alhambra water gardens on a smaller scale. I felt it was a shame that they did not take the theme into the bedrooms. The bedrooms were a good size and spotlessly clean. The bedding and towels were changed regularly. It did lack a table and chairs, although there was a desk with a chair. The balcony had no outside light, but we managed to get the table light moved to give us some light to play cards by. There is no water in the room, which you would expect in a 4 star hotel. However you could obtain water from the bar. We were on an all inclusive deal booked through Tui. The location is absolutely stunning. It has a lovely beach that goes on for miles. The area also is great for wildlife. The area is known as the wet lands so attracts lots of birds. It is not a place that parties. It is a good place for families and people that appreciate lovely scenery. Our family had a very relaxing holiday. With regards to food and drink. We were on all inclusive. Our drinks were pretty good. With wine, beer cocktails and soft drinks included. The drinks for people not on all inclusive were quite reasonably priced. The food was a buffet restaurant. What they served was good quality. If you like meat and fish then you are very well catered for. If you are vegetarian like me there is a lot of salads. Hot Meal wise it was hit and miss. On a couple of days I just had a plate of vegetables as there were no vegetarian main. It got very repetitive. If you are vegan you would find it very hard to eat here. They do say if you have any allergies then you should ask. Nothing is labelled for ingredient contents. Where food was labelled as to what is sometimes the labels were against the wrong food. My advice is that you should look very carefully or ask. Unfortunately some staff do not actually know what is in items as I asked about what looks like mushroom risotto and was told it was beef. It definitely was a mushroom risotto. After someone tasted it I was able decide to have it. We as a family had a lovely time. Most of my family would definitely return. I would love to return, but not with the current vegetarian catering. Food is very important to me on holiday. I don't want to eat the same salad every day. I would like to try vegetarian versions on local cuisine, like a vegetarian paella for example. The reason I gave only 4 stars is the lack of
