We were visiting the Slovenian Coast for 5 Nights as a couple with a dog. We opted for a hotel in a more quiet location compared with portoroz - Izola etc.... What a great choice! Firstly, the hotel is beautiful renovated and looks like a new place. All is well and feels new - from the Restaurant, Lobby and the Rooms! (and awesome Salt chambers..) We chose a double room with balcony, which in those hot days were great for the early mornings or later evenings! (plus a big help in drying beach towels and clothes!) The room was nice, safe and mini bar fridge all available. Good shower - and for outdoor 38 degrees heat a perfectly working Air Con!! That's a real bonus! The Food (Breakfast was an enough wide selection) and the Dinner (mixed à la carte & sushi) must be stated was amazingly nice cooked, real top quality chef! if you like to dine out or eat in the evenings out just a 10-minute walk is the Ancaran Townsquare with a handful of nice Bars, Italian, Local Speciality Restaurant and so on. ＞All one needs! But the best ist still straight down from the hotel, the small bar on the beach! - So! - most over all I like to mention the feeling being a few days away from home in this place made us really relaxed and the best of the hotel is the people who work there!! - from the welcome reception team to the bar & restaurant staff and the housekeepers - all were at every time friendly and engaged! Overall, the Owner or Manager of this Hotel should be happy to have exactly this team working there now! They are awesome people with a good sense of hospitality! I would try to keep them! From the hotel you can walk in 3-5 minutes to a nice calm, quiet beach with another nice Restaurant and Bar (directly overlooking the Bay of Ancaran, Koper and so on) which was a lovely scenery!). The water was crystal clean and perfect temperature, and each time coming back to the hotel felt simply nice. Having travelled over 100s of times and stayed in 2-5 star hotels all over - this is definitely a place to go back. You just have to know what you are looking for and what kind of entertainment one wants. If you choose wisely, and you look for a bit more quiet place and not overloaded with people - and good drinks, food etc... than this is your destination! Thank you Team Ortus for the great stay. This is our last night (of 8) here at Grand Hotel in Koper and it has been such a positive surprise. We are here because of a sailing regatta and have enjoyed every minute. The hotel is newly renovated and it more than deserves its 4 stars. The service is really special and not least the team at the front desk work around the clock to make your stay memorable. They make you feel so welcome. Location is also great and you will fall in love with the sea view from the superior rooms. Food is also great - both the daily breakfast with eggs at your choice, snacks, lunch and dinner also. We will come back. Thank you so much to allstaff@koper

Hotel 5 stars , located on the seafront. Accommodation by the reception and the cars (garage at the custodian cover) of the first order. Very comfortable and excellent clean room, large bathroom with clean handcuffs and towels ( daily change ) Restaurant, first breakfast and buffet dinner with a wide choice between cold and hot cooked food at the moment. The hotel has a very large seawater swimming pool, many sleep on board pool for relaxation. Really satisfied with everything.

This is not a 5-star hotel. They have the potential to be 5 stars, since the facilities are fabulous. Our room was very nice looking with a great view to the hills and to the sea. The “park view” is an understatement, it was a beautiful hillside view. Also the large outdoor pool is fantastic and the breakfast terrace also offers fabulous views to the garden and to the sea. But all this goes to waste, because the staff doesn’t care to make an effort. The breakfast food was leathery and there were no sweets or pastries to have with your coffee. This was a first time with such a poor selection and quality in a 5 star hotel. There is no concierge service, you have to carry your own bags to the room, in a 5 star hotel. The staff was ignorant and rude; they kept asking constantly if we are guests of this hotel. As if we were not good enough to be guests of this hotel so they had to keep snobbishly asking about it all the time. There is no room service in this hotel whatsoever. When we wanted our clothes washed, we call the reception to have somebody pick it up from our room and it will be returned the next day before 18.00 like they promise in the room’s laundry info leaflet. When we called, the receptionist responded by saying it is already late (19.00), so could we bring the laundry to the reception by ourselves. Then the next day, when by 21.00, the laundry bag still had not been returned to our room, we went to the reception to ask about it. It tuns out the bag is there forgotten. The receptionist told us we have to take it to the room by ourselves, as she cannot send anybody to bring it to us and she cannot leave the reception herself. We cannot believe this amount of self-service one has to endure in a 5 star hotel. The reception staff didn’t bother to give us the towel card at the arrival or inform us that we need one when we go to the large outdoor pool. So when we went to the pool, the poolboy informed us that we need the towel card and should walk all the way back up to the huge hill to the hotel reception to get it. It’s ridiculous that they make customers run around like this. The pools are only open till 19.00, which is really odd in a 5 star hotel. There is no reason why they can’t be open till 21 or 22 like in many other hotels, many guests would love to swim and relax in the evening when it’s not so hot anymore. Then the pool staff started shutting down the outdoor pool umbrellas and chairs already at 18.00, even though guests were still using those. The jacuzzi was turned off already at 18.00, even though it was supposed to be open till 19.00. And the employee at the pool refused to turn it back on and claimed they were all in “maintenance”, even though they had water in them. So clearly there was maintenance, just ignorance towards his job. We have paid for the jacuzzi and we want to use it during our stay. You shouldn’t do “maintenance” on all the 3 jacuzzis you have at the same time, so the guests can enjoy at least o

This hotel can be classified at least 3 stars. It's divided in different buildings but only 2 are indicated as 4 stars, the others are 3 declared. So you think you are paying for 4 stars service and you find something very different. Rooms are quite renovated but the moquette is dirty both in stairs and rooms, the cleaning we had only 1 time in 4 days because they have few and slow people. In fact we had to try not to kill a big spider but pushing it outside the window with lot of difficult. We have asked a quiet room during the booking at the top floor because I am ill and I need to rest much but the receptionist gave us a first floor room, in front of the stairs, so we could listen all people going around the building and children running on our heads even when I needed my noon rest. Result: we spent a lot of money for a very poor service. We didn't receive any discount at the beach and bistro of the hotel as promised. And last but not least a terribile breakfast, with many products of very poor quality and absolutely disgusting coffee, all served in a big restaurant without any rules to manage all guests. Very bad experience and worst of lot of money. Our vacation was completed ruined

We spent 5 nights in this hotel. Excellent location, very lovely place. Really near the sea. All hotel renovated, clean, very good pools, peacefool seaside. Gratis shuttle bus to Piran. Many various foods. Parking a little bit far from the reception. We got harbor view room instead of seaside room, but when I said they quickly changed it. The staff can speak english, germany, italian also. Beach is also near but we didnt use it. We used inside pools and the seaside front of sunterace. The arrengment of foods is perfect dont need to wait one line. Coming from Hungary better than croatia because no gate and no passport checking. It was our excellent summer holiday.

i can recommend the hotel, it has a very good location, near the beach and offers great value (you get what you pay for). the staff is generally very friendly, special thanks to the gentleman looking after the pool/wellness area, and also Milena from the reception. yes, there was a few problems during my check-in, but she always remained friendly and maintained a smile , and they offered 1 night stay for my dog for free as a compensation at the end of my stay, which I thought was a nice gesture. thanks for that.

Everything was excellent. Facility is fully renovated. Excellent breakfast. Kind and friendly personal.

We are guests of this hotel for many years now. Every year we come back which stands as proof of our satisfaction. Greatest compliments are for polite and amazing staff, starting with reception and housekeepers, staff that takes car of guests cars all up to people working in restaurant. Everyone is so professional and ready to help. Food is good, delicious and fresh with lots of choice. However, desserts could be better, to be honest. Fruit selection is great. We were disappointed to see that beautiful white table cloths are taken down from the restaurants and that tables are left empty. Now, former high-end restaurant seems like an express restaurant and that's just sad. Hopefully, hotel will bring back table cloths, at least for dinner. That's one small detail that matters so much to guests. We always reserve executive double room with sea view, which are recently renovated. They are nice, comfortable beds and great view. This time it was a bit cold in the room because heating wasn't strong enough, which wasn't case so far. It was cold in the lobby as well. In the lobby there's a pianist who entertains guests, but we couldn't enjoy the performance due to being cold. Location is amazing - in the city center. Me and my company seriously hope that hotel will take care of these little flaws that weren't there previous years.
