Towada Hotel Reviews

This place is extraordinarily overpriced for what it is. I expected much more amenities and service. Although the staff were friendly and courteous, the place was fairly bland. The onsen was mediocre and there were no refreshments afterwards unless you wanted to go to a vending machine. Even Dormy Inn provides refreshments after the onsen but at Towado Hotel having to pay for them and not even the nice ones is ridiculous when you have to pay so much to stay here. The same for the relaxation chair. It is coin-operated not complementary. I would not recommend staying here if you’re looking for a luxury experience because although you pay for that, it’s definitely nowhere near that. Our Western style room was very basic, and it just didn’t have those special finishing touches I had hoped for. 

A luxurious hotel made with precious wood from the Tohoku region for the phantom Olympics. This is a wonderful hotel that is perfect for architecture lovers.

I was originally planning to visit last summer, but I couldn't make it due to heavy rain, so I decided to visit this time (^ ^) I stayed for 2 nights, and the service level and food at the restaurant were very good. The main building is made of Akita cedar as expected (^ ^) The only thing that is a little disappointing is the front desk lol Mr. Bell is good! This is a hotel I will visit again. Oh, the bath is nice too. It's at the level where you might mistake it for a hot spring lol

I stayed in a standard twin room in the annex. Unfortunately, the bath here is not a hot spring, but from the open-air bath you can see Lake Towada below, and it felt very refreshing. We chose a mix of Japanese and Western cuisine for dinner, and Japanese cuisine for breakfast. There were plenty of ingredients from Akita and Aomori, but there was no Himemasu from Lake Towada that I had expected. This year's fishing is said to be poor, so that may be the reason. The main building, which opened in 1939, is designated as a registered tangible cultural property and is connected to the new building, so you can easily visit it. I think you can feel the craftsmanship of the shrine carpenters of the time.

I stayed in both a Japanese-style room in the main building and a Western-style room in the new building. The entrance to the main building is made with plenty of Akita cedar, and it's definitely worth a look. Usually, the new building entrance is used. The views from both the Japanese and Western rooms were great. I was fascinated by the sunset visible from the window, the changing colors of the sky and the lake, and watched it for a while. For the meal, the Himemasu pie wrapped was delicious.

The pillars of the main building are all 4 cm square made of Akita cedar. It has a nice, neat, and solid feel. The features in the alcove are also good. Each room is different, so I took a look at some of them on my way home. It's a shame that the bathroom part was so easy to make. The accommodation building was rebuilt in the Heisei era. Dinner was heartwarming just by the number of items... There are many disappointing points, and there are many flaws.

I stayed in room 205 in the main building. The room was spacious with a great view, and the facilities and amenities were perfect. Although I was disappointed that the large communal bath was not a hot spring, there was a sauna and the open-air bath overlooking Lake Towada was especially great in the morning. Also, the morning stroll along the shore of Lake Towada was refreshing and pleasant. The food in the restaurant was perfect for seniors, and the choice of Japanese or Western food for breakfast was also nice. In the old entrance hall, there was an exhibition that told the history of the hotel, which brought together the efforts of the palace carpenters, and it was interesting just to compare the differences in the decoration of each door of the main building guest rooms. I was very grateful to have been able to see the special room during the time before the transfer, but I wish there had been a tour of the hotel to talk about its charms.

The old building, which has been there since the hotel first opened, has a wonderful a**osphere. Not only is the exterior beautiful with its wooden texture, but the interior beyond the entrance of the old building is also wonderful and overwhelming. Above the entrance is a library corner, which is a relaxing space, and looking down at the entrance from there is also a special charm. The front desk is on the new building side, and I think that is where you usually enter and exit, but I would like you to also enter through the entrance on the old building side. There are no places to eat nearby, and the restaurant is reservation-only, so you need to make a reservation when you book your stay. It wasn't luxurious, but the dishes were seasonal, and even the rice had bright green beans in it, so you could feel the summer. This is a recommended hotel where you can enjoy both artistic buildings and delicious food.

The hot springs are very nice. We love this place.

I stayed in the main building, which was built on a castle-like stone wall with bright wood grain, and compared to the classic exterior, the interior had a new feel. You can see Lake Towada beyond the trees from your room, and you'll never get tired of seeing it. The bath is not a hot spring. It seems that the chlorine is getting stronger due to the season. The food is perfect, but when it gets crowded, it can be hard to see. I thought it would be nice if there was a call button on the table (lol)
