Thanks to the ladies and gentlemen who helped me at breakfast in the morning. Our room was freshly renovated. No tape, that's beautiful. We have been coming to Hotel Am Wald for the past few years as a family to visit relatives in Monheim. Sadly, as they have now passed away we won’t have much reason to visit this lovely hotel anymore. Thank you so much to all the staff, in particular Hamza who looked after us so well: the children adore him. The rooms in the hotel are quite basic but very clean and comfortable. The food in the restaurant is top quality and consistently good. The goose went down very well this time with our group. We celebrated at 70th birthday on Saturday night and it was very special. Three night stay at this hotel for business meetings in the area. Very clean and neat lobby and room. Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful and spoke english perfectly. I was not a fan of the marshmallow pillows. Room is pure basic and was adequate. Good hot water supply. I did not try the breakfast so can't comment on that. Biggest drawback was the lack of proximity to any incidental ammenaties or food establishments. There are no convenience stores near by (2-3 kilometers walking distance to the nearest one) and none in the hotel (small refrigerator in the hotel lobby where you can buy limited soft drinks and snacks at the front desk). The hotel would do well to establish a gift shop/convenience store to service thier patrons due to the lack of availability of such in the area. It would have been nice to acquire a cup of coffee any time of day but especially in the morning when a full cost breakfast was the only way to acquire this. Overall though, a pleasant stay with pleasant staff.
