Tabacon Thermal Resort & Spa

La Fortuna|9.07km from city centre
In the afternoon, arrive at the address of Costa Rica: 13 km oeste del centro de La Fortuna de San Carlos, A****ela, Costa Rica. Tabac&nv.n Thermal Resort & Spa (Tabacón Thermal Resort & Spa), He is one of the best spa hotels in the world. He claims that the seven-star hot spring resort hotel is very comfortable, the room is clean, the pillows are very comfortable, the bedding is very soft, and the two bottles of pure water are given. The orchid room I live in is very Comfortable, the curtain is a volcano, with free breakfast, breakfast is very good, the bathroom is very luxurious, double sink, the most important thing is the service is very good, there is free gym and swimming pool, but in fact these are not the focus, the biggest focus is outdoor The hot springs, where people and nature are united, need to be called the hotel shuttle to arrive in about 3 minutes, but it will not be a quarter of an hour. You can enjoy the VIP area when you live in the hotel. The name of the area is actually written in Chinese, Shangri-La, hot spring antiques, Many waterfalls descend from the mountains. Your most important thing is to enjoy life. There are many people during the day. At night, there are fewer people, so you can feel in the hot springs. Starry sky, the volcano is very beautiful and very comfortable, there are the sound of waterfalls, the feeling of intoxication, the hot springs, bars, buffets, etc., for everyone, you can also take a bath here, if the outside person wants to go about 100 dollars or so, In fact, it is more cost-effective to rent a hot spring. The hotel lobby is also very beautiful, the waiter's clothing is very formal, this is the best hotel I have lived in this trip, if you drive out to eat, about 20 minutes drive has a Chinese restaurant is also good.

Selina la Fortuna

Selina la Fortuna

La Fortuna|0.31km from city centre
We were aware the Selina was a hostel on booking so opted for a suite room with a private bathroom. We’re seasoned travellers and have realistic expectations of ‘you get what you pay for’. It also has a pool which at the time of booking swayed the decision. We thought the comparatively high cost indicated a high quality accommodation with a more laid back and boho vibe than a standard hotel. Positives… Great location, central to La Fortuna and many excellent eateries. Less than 10 dollars in an Uber to most of the local attractions in the area. Good facilities in the room - arty decor, fridge, coffee machine, mirrors, 65 inch TV with Netflix, large bed, nice toiletries, good WiFi and a powerful shower. The not so great… The whole place didn’t feel as clean as it should be and a little shabby for the cost which was very expensive relative to the other accommodation in the area. No outlook at all with grubby fly screens and old rusty caged windows; located next to a building site. Nowhere to hang clothes and just little inconveniences like the bedside lights switches located at the opposite end of the room. The awful… Noise - when the air conditioning wasn’t rattling like mad, it was the industrial sized washing machines in the laundry below from the early hours that felt like a plane was continually taking off under our room. After three nights, we left exhausted and ready for a quieter space. Looking at reviews, mechanical noise seems to be a regular issue. For a hostel, I would just have put up and shut up but after paying a premium hotel price, the noise was not acceptable. We’ve also got loads of random small charges on our invoice for coworking and well-being which I queried and received no response. It all looks great on the website and the funky branding lures you in but the reality is, we got ****** in by clever photos and copy - there is a gap between what they promise and what you get for the cost. I think they need to maybe stay in their lane and focus on delivering a great hostel experience rather than trying to dress up overpriced and mediocre rooms as a hotel offer at hotel prices. We’ve stayed in four other places to date and the Selina by far offered the least value for money (and we got a ‘deal’ at £115 per night without breakfast). We were excited to stay somewhere a little different - and left tired, disappointed and a little ripped off. Unfortunately we fell for the slick marketing.

Baldi Hot Springs Hotel & Spa

Amazing amazing amazing! I want to go back already! Hot springs were amazing, I love the option of having at least one of the hot springs open 24/7, they change it each night for cleaning purposes, they’re very strict on the towels, each one is literally accounted for otherwise there is a fee per towel, no big deal as long as you keep track, didn’t really need to carry a towel around anyway, the only downside I’d have to say was the Italian restaurant was much better then the buffet option, also the slides are pretty intense, I actually hurt my foot on one of them, but it didn’t stop the fun. Wish I were back there!
Hotel Arenal Lodge

My husband and I visited here 15 years ago. We loved it so much that we brought our entire family of 15 here to experience the area and this incredible lodge. The lodge is an authentic open air design with beautiful wood timbers. The pool and hot tubs have great views. We rented the chalets that have a majestic view of the volcano. To awaken to that view is spiritual! The owners are lovely and most accommodating. Freddy trained in Culinary School in France so every meal was exceptional. His wife is lovely….she embodies the spirit of Arenal Lodge. I cannot say enough about the staff at Arenal Lodge. They are very eager to please and friendly. There is no way to describe the setting for this lodge. The rainforest adorns it and becomes part of it. We had children with us and they were welcomed to entertain themselves with board games, fusball and pool. This experience is just what I dreamed of when returning with our family!

We stayed just one night at the hotel and were impressed by the lush grounds, beautiful pools and stunning views of the Arenal Volcano. The check-in process was smooth and the staff we interacted with were very pleasant. The bungalow was nicely appointed, rustic, with beautiful gardens surrounding it. The space was quite large with lots of storage, a small table, sitting area, large bathroom and a small kitchenette area with fridge, microwave and coffee maker. And the price - WOW! The grounds were full of tropical plants and we saw many birds and were visited by hummingbirds on our porch. The back of the property has a large pasture with great views of the volcano. We walked back there in the early morning to take in the surroundings - volcano views, parrots, monkeys - just perfect. Breakfast was a HUGE typical breakfast, a great way to start the day. For the price, this location is awesome! It’s a bit out of town and one would need a car or taxi. We dined at Jalapas, enjoyed a day pass at The Springs, did the Don Juan Coffee & Chocolate Tour and the Sloth Walk at Bogarin Trail. All excellent! We had bungalow #38, which was quiet and situated away from the pools. Next time I would choose a bungalow further back from the main entry as you do hear some road noise (mostly large trucks gearing down). For those on an even smaller budget, rooms 13 and 19, in the buildings at the back of the property have STUNNING views of the volcano.
Arenal Montechiari Hotel
4.2/567 Reviews
Stayed here two nights on an Exodus trip. The hotel is close to the centre of town (easily walkable to bars and restaurants) but in a quiet area. Staff were lovely and the cleaner folds your towel into creative shapes (see photo) The rooms are clean but very basic, there’s no Wi-Fi unless you’re sitting in reception and no bar at the hotel (but lots within 10 mins walk). Each room is in an individual cabin with a verandah, set around beautiful tropical gardens filled with exotic flowers and colourful birds. There’s a small unheated pool. Each morning there is bird feeding at breakfast so it’s a paradise for birders. Breakfast is good. I wouldn’t want to spend more than two nights here as the room interior is wood panelled and dark (there are large windows but they give no privacy so your choice is to keep curtains drawn or sit in a goldfish bowl) and the plumbing a little temperamental, but for a couple of nights on a tour it was a good choice. There is aircon but I didn’t need to use it.
