The hotel itself has insufficient parking. As a chain brand, they should really plan ahead for any conferences or events, always prioritizing guests. It's simply unacceptable for hotel guests to have to park off-site and pay out of pocket. The hotel manager eventually helped resolve the issue after some back-and-forth, but with such limited parking by design, the management really should have proactive contingency plans in place when events are being held. This is quite surprising for a chain brand.
Moving on to their 'family-friendly' facilities, they simply aren't. The 'kids' play area' shown in the picture is the most dismal I've ever encountered. Honestly, it would be better if they just didn't advertise having one at all. They really shouldn't be targeting the family market, as the hotel's facilities and amenities simply don't meet the requirements. For families like ours, who frequently stay at various family-friendly hotels, the difference is stark. My advice would be for them to just abandon the 'family hotel' concept entirely.
Regarding the family room, both the website and my booking confirmation stated there would be toys. However, upon arrival, all we found were Paul Frank decorations. This is a clear case of misrepresentation. The specific theme isn't the point; the issue is that your website explicitly promised toys. After I complained, they did eventually switch us to a themed room that actually had toys.
Overall, my impression is that this hotel, being close to the high-speed rail, is suitable for business travelers looking for a convenient place to rest. For a vacation, I definitely wouldn't recommend it.

It’s my second stay at Shanghai-la Nanshan. Really enjoyed my last stay, so this time I brought my mum with me. She’s stunned by how pretty the hotel interior is, it’s definitely the style she likes. Here, special thanks to Allen and Alice at the front office, they’re totally caring and helpful. We enjoyed every minute of our stay, the room is perfect, and the night view is amazing. I think I’d choose here again for my next family visit. Thanks for everything!

An absolutely fantastic stay! Shangri-La, as always, never disappoints. We even experienced a typhoon during our visit, but the hotel's excellent arrangements turned what could have been a disruption into an interesting experience. Despite our flight being cancelled, it unexpectedly became a rare day of relaxation.
My only minor caveat would be the food at the Horizon Club. It could definitely be fresher; it felt like reheated leftovers from the breakfast/lunch buffets. The stir-fried dishes, in particular, completely lacked their proper flavor. A small disappointment.
