Staff are helpful, breakfasts service was excellent.

We stayed here over the weekend with a large group booked by a tour company. The hotel can not cope with parties such as ours. Check in was poorly organised and protracted. The room was dated and there were a previous guest body hair stuck to the bathroom tiles. The bed was hard and creaky. Kettle didn’t appear to work then turned itself on randomly after 10 minutes. No plug sockets next to the bed. I was ignored by bar staff and males were served ahead of me (who were stood behind me) The meal was poor. They had no intention of serving anything other than meat to all guests. I had to ask 3 times if the soup was suitable for vegetarians- we don’t actually know what the soup was. The chicken was reported to be very dry and all food was thrown at us by what looked like the owners mum and sister who had been called in to deal with us at the last minute. I was told that a veggie meal could be cooked by the chef and I was brought a curry that was lovely - but 15 minutes after everyone else had eaten. Breakfast was sp**** and equally as poor - the comment was “ we are trying to keep up”. There was no milk alternative readily available and no one around to ask. Glasses for juice were eventually brought by a waitress who had her fingers stuck inside them to carry them. Would not return

I stayed here with my daughter while on a trip with Caledonian travel. First impressions were good. Staff very friendly and accommodating. Our room was basic but clean and tidy. We didn't fancy anything off the set menu for the evening meal so I booked us into the on site restaurant. I ordered a steak and my daughter had the lasagne. The steak was beautifully cooked but had way too much pepper on it. It actually spoilt the taste of it. My daughter enjoyed the lasagne which came with chips. Breakfast was abit unorganized. No cups out and tables not set properly.People walking about looking for milk and the toaster took an age to get any colour on the bread. The food was quite poor. It's buffet breakfast and the eggs looked like they had been cooked for a while. The sausage was also poor quality and the bacon looked awful. It looked like the kind you get on a breakfast abroad. No coffee machine coffee available,just sachets instant coffee available. This could be a lovely hotel with a few changes.

The staff were always helpful when you could find them, nice location rooms a bit dated needs some TLC, But breakfast at £10 seriously lacked choice and was anything but a traditional full English. The bacon offered was Turkey bacon! and you could only have beef sausages! the scrambled egg was over cooked and there was no choice of hot beverages either. The fresh orange was diluted squash that was too strong to drink. Although we had paid for breakfast for both days we did not have breakfast on the 2nd morning. When we arrived back after attending a wedding, we needed some more coffee, milk and toilet roll as these hadn't been replaced during the day, when i went to reception there were 3 people already waiting one lady was there with her 2 year old child as her room key didn't work so she needed that replacing but they had already waited 20 mins for someone to man the reception desk. Even on our day of departure there were still no staff to be found when checking out. Overall it was a very disappointing experience and would not stay there again.

Stopped one night as we were on a coach trip. On arriving we were greeted warmly and had easy check in. The hotel was spotless and very well presented. Staff- Ellie worked effortlessly on the tea time and on the breakfast. She was rushed off her feet but still had time to stop and answer our questions and was very polite. Older lady who was serving on the tea time (11/5/24) very rude and ignorant and was unable to deal with simple request. Also she was serving food whilst eating NOT appropriate at all.

After reading some of the past reviews, we were a little apprehensive about staying here. We needn’t have worried because it was a wonderful couple of nights. Every member of staff we met here were attentive, professional and very friendly and went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. The room was great and the shower room was amazing.Everything was clean worked perfectly. The breakfast was good apart from the turkey bacon which I personally don’t like but understood the reasons why “proper “ bacon is not on the menu. That is my personal choice so I won’t let that alter my review. The rest of the breakfast was of a high standard. The bar was lovely and again the service was perfect. We didn’t use the restaurant as the purpose of our visit was to visit family and friends in the area, but if it’s anything like the rest of our stay, I’m sure it’s to the same standards of the rest of it. All in all, we will be booking again to stay here, the next time we make the journey north. We can’t recommend here highly enough. Thank you Tong Park

It was a nice room, there was a little bit of dust, but in general was quite clean. would’ve been nice to have the room I paid with a king size bed. The staff were very friendly and nice, in general was a nice stay. The food wasn’t worth the price though.

The worst experience ever in a hotel. An ex-Holiday Inn probably more professionally managed then. Reception confused, personal info incorrect, Dreadful Parking Eye system, log your car, or face a huge fine. The room number on the door was written in biro, a clue as to what lay beyond. The sink in the bathroom was was badly broken and not repaired. but It was 7pm and we were tired and hungry, or would have asked for a change of room. Paintwork shabby. Really bad. Bar / restaurant staff lazy and unhelpful. We were a group of four and ordered from the menu, much of which was unavailable, including lettuce for the salad, chicken wings, Rib-Eye Steak etc etc. The T Bone Steak I chose, was overcooked and small. The wines were poor quality and sour tasting, all horrid. The hotel seems to be Indian owned now, as Sikhs are forbidden from drinking alcohol, I guess the quality of the wine is not monitored by them. Service during our meal was a nightmare, I had to get up to find someone to serve us. I retired to the bar for a drink. The barman watched me for a long time and said he was on a break and there was no one else to help me, Finally I and i said well if you are unable to serve me, if I serve myself and l will pay you when you have finished your break. He suddenly forgot about the importance of his break and called security. I am 70 years old and the man he called was disrespectful, rude and aggressive. I pointed out to the receptionist the problems I had encountered. She asked why I was asking her? As it was nothing it was nothing to do with her! The security man said if I didn't like it why didn't I just check out there and then? As I was forced to pre-pay and it was late I declined. I said I intended to complain and asked for his name. He said under GDPR regulations he wasn't obliged to supply that information, although while he was prepared to to hide behind those rules, Frankly I doubt he knew what the acronym meant. Avoid!
