The best hotel in Germany. The western restaurant on the second floor is especially amazing. You need to make reservations in advance at night. The details of the service are great. The hotel is the official designated accommodation hotel for the European Cup. I was lucky enough to see the England and Belgium players.

Hotel is located about 6km from the city center on a busy intersection, no public transport nearby. Car parking is 10€/24h, not the most expensive but a shame they don't offer this service free of charge. Edeka supermarket, KFC and McDonald's right across the road. Rooms are spacious but with carpet, pillow 'menu' available, fridge and coffee facilities in the room. No toiletries in the bathroom though, would have made a difference in service. Vending machines in the lobby are really overpriced, 3€ for a small botlle of lemonade is too high. We didn't use the sauna, but we were told by reception it was open. Breakfast was ok but didn't really get replenished after 10.20, a shame. No more boiled eggs, pancakes were cold. It did have smoked salmon, which I can always appreciate. Overall, we had a good night sleep, but as soon as you open the window the outside noise from traffic is a downer. Not sure though why this hotel is rated 4*, let's say its a solid 3*+

We just spent one night here with a group. The hotel is very welcoming and we had a nice room which even included a kettle with tea and coffee facilities. Wow! Even the bedside lighting was excellent. Wow! The pool was lovely, especially since we were in a heatwave and had been travelling all day. What a shame that our good impressions were spoilt by the experience in the restaurant. We understood that there was not much choice of restaurants locally and it was too hot to go into the city so we wanted to eat in the hotel. Their restaurant is quite small. I spoke to a waitress and asked to see a menu and she said I needed to download the QR code to see the menu. No, they didn't have a printout. I had to wait until I was back in my room, united with my iPhone, to read it. There was limited choice, but we decided to go down. The head waiter asked whether we had a reservation. We didn't, so we were told bluntly that the restaurant was full. No apologies, just a stubborn glare. So we started to go out, then noticed that several from our group were sitting at a table just outside the restaurant area. They had been told they could be served there. So we joined them and....were served! The Wiener Schnitzel and chips were ok, the salad drowned in dressing, the wine ok-ish and the price quite high. Pity, as the rest of the hotel was great and the people at reception very helpful.

After a long hard journey we had a pleasant enough checkin, but after having paid a lot extra for booking first class rooms, we were told that the first class lounge was closed. I asked what was the point in paying sky much more for first class rooms, and I was told the rooms have coffee machines. For the price difference I could have gone and bought coffee machines, but frankly I am not interested in a coffee machine, I paid for the rooms so we could use the lounge, so I felt ripped off. My room was boiling hot, and the air conditioning does not work. They sent someone to the room, but they could not get is below 26 degrees. They changed my room to a much smaller one, but it was a bit cooler. I came back to my room having left the aircon on all day and all evening. It was still very warm. I chose this hotel as it is described as air conditioned. It is not air conditioned at all. I could not sleep, it was too warm. I called reception and they brought me a fan. I am so disappointed to have not had what I expected, and most annoyingly the room was described as air conditioned when all it really has is a noisy fan. I should ask for partial refund for our two rooms, they were not worth the money. Then, the service at the bar was terrible. We ordered a round of drinks, it took more than half an hour to bring three beers. Not busy, just really slow.

The Hotel shows five stars! The room had no wifi whatsoever, although they showed three different wifi lans. Attempts to bridge this gap with mobile hotspots were not helpful. Noises from other rooms were audible, which means a bad noise insulation. Worst of all was that there was first only boiling hot water in the bathroom. This was due to the fact that all cold water supplies were closed. Still after opening them ourselves, one of the two lavatories cold water regulator was not functional. Shocking was that the shower was switching from regulated 38 degrees Celsius to suddenly boiling hot water and then to ice cold water. This made showering an unpleasant not to say dangerous encounter! You judge if this Hotel deserves the five star rating. Our attempt to communicate the shortcomings was prompted with the statement that the maintenance technicians had left! (???)

The room is very spacious and clean. The lobby of the hotel is very fashionable and atmospheric. There are many shortcomings. The room only provides free bottled water on the first day of check-in. Clean towels are only provided on the second day. Did not replace with a new one the next day and did not leave a new tissue 🧻 4-star charge without 4-star service

At this time of year, the “Hofburg” in the Cologne Carnival is highly recommended. We always book at Dorint for our friends and guests. It's always a good idea to meet the Cologne triumvirate and take a photo. The bar is also the meeting place for carnivalists in the evenings.

Outstanding
CCompanion31945882075There was no air conditioning (AC) even though the hotel advertised as having it. Their excuses was that it was too cool at night to operate the AC for the hotel even though it was actually very warm outside. Translation: the entire hotel is either on heat or AC, they are too frugal to allow use of the advertised AC, or their system is outdated and does not actually work properly. Very hot and stuff room. The odd thing was is that the hotel lobby seemed to have AC. The hallways and room were uncomfortably hot. Upon checking in there was only a little bit of toilet paper was left on the roll. Fortunately there was an extra roll provided. Only a few sheets of Kleenex were in the box. Also, the hand soap dispenser was nearly empty. It seems not much care is given to the rooms between guests. On our last day the housekeeper knocks on the door early in the morning even tough the “do not disturb” sign was hung on the door. It was a basic room with furnishings that included a desk, a small round table, 2 small nightstands, a desk chair, and one sitting chair. There was no usable refrigerator, just a mini bar. The was only one suitcase rack situated in the closet. We had to use the sitting chair for our other suitcase. The beds were not too comfortable. Also the pillow case did not completely cover the pillow, so your head might rest upon the exposed portion of the pillow where the lasts hundreds of guest placed their heads. Bathroom was OK but a bit smelly. The shower had low water pressure. Some water will leak out under the shower door to the floor. Stepping over the high tub with a slippery shower floor is a bit precarious. Internet speed was 3.81 Mbps in both upload and download, with 8 ms latency. The location is near the chocolate museum and a good pizza and pasta restaurant is nearby. The cathedral is less than a mile away. At almost 400 euros a night, it was very expensive for a poor experience. Perhaps HN stands for “Not Happy.”
GGuest UserThe (non-upgraded) room is relatively spacious, well designed and quiet. I'm glad I did not accept a higher cost upgrade option. It was great for a 4-day stay. There's a separate area for clothing and storage, and a small refrigerator. There was a wall of windows, good light and effective blackout curtains. The in-room coffee service is nice - I didn't find this in my other hotels. The breakfast buffet is worth the price, especially considering the quality, and that a single cup of coffee elsewhere can easily be 5 Euros. It's not a train station hotel (one mile away from the HBF and the Dom), but this hotel is in a very nice area, and is convenient to a great many dining and entertainment options for a Cologne tourist. It's not horrible to take the train here (with one connection) if you are reasonably mobile. Public transit options are many once you figure them out. The USB charging outlets are helpful -- and I did not find these in any other of my hotels. Overall, this chain is a significant step up from the likes of Ibis and Motel One. This hotel is very much worth the reasonable premium it charges. Desk staff was very friendly and helpful throughout my visit. I would happily return to this property.
GGuest UserThe check-in could be more swift and in a slightly more polite tone. The smallest room has plenty of space for one night, the bathroom could be more functional with more storage options, the shower is amazing. The unpleasant surprise came the next morning when breakfast was ”delivered”, which is to be taken literally as it handed out in a cartonage box. Inside were two sandwiches (ham and salami), one hard-boiled egg and fruits. If that's not to your taste - tough luck! Do not get me wrong: I can live with terrible breakfast, I am okay to (over)pay for good/halfway acceptable breakfast, but for 14€ I expect a level of choice that goes beyond vegan, vegetarian or normal. If you hope for that to have changed in the future, I also have to disappoint you: The receptionist was well-aware of the fact that this offer is a rip-off.
GGuest UserJust an absolute great experience staying there easy to find from central station. The staff are very welcome in. Everything we requested before we arrived. Was there just the overall great day and a great great location. Definitely want to stay there again. Would recommend this to anybody.

TThành Trung TrầnHygien, room, bed, quietness everything was great except that I got this problem with the receptionists. So I did explain to all the receptionist (that I saw-because I understand they work in shifts) that I lost 2 luggages due to the airline's mistake and airline will send them to this hostel where I would be staying (for 1 night only). I explained that if someone sent luggages here, please tell me asap because I needed to catch a train to Amsterdam the nextday noon. Imagine 35kg of personal belongs just dissapeared, I didnt have toothbrush, clean clothings.... I reminded them everything 3-4 hours when I saw a receptionist. After almost 27 hours of waiting in worry (which made me cannot enjoy the city), I talked to one receptionist to please check 1 more time becauze the airlines mailed me that they did send to the hostel at 4:30pm in the day I checked-in hostel, (only 4-5 hours after my flight time), she let me go it the luggage room and my luggages were there the whole time! So I waited in pain for 22 hours for nothing. I think it would be a bit obvious when 1 guy in delivery company uniform went in with 2 luggages and said ”this is from one of your customer.” But the receptionist just forgot it quickly and didnt tell me. I had to change a lot of my plan and I was feeling terible and stressful with the waiting and fear of lost luggages.
Beside that, the condition of rooms, facilities, warm water, sound proof windows were great.
The reason for the location of this select hotel in an area devoid of personality, tourist attractions or facilities is totally unknown to me. And to get to the hotel, from Koln central station you have to change several means of transport. The price is really indecent for what it offers. He tries to stand out but fails miserably. For a 4-star hotel, the rooms are small, with limited equipment. There is no minibar or mini-fridge, no safe for valuables. Even a wardrobe for clothes is not provided, instead you will find a sheath in the wall with several hangers. And the concept of the bathroom is totally impractical: open bathroom in the room, with all the steam that spreads in the room, without towel holders. There is no possibility of heating the room, or at least it didn't work, given that the outside temperature during the night was close to freezing. A big problem was serving breakfast: around 7 am it was impossible to find a single seat at the table. At check-out I was asked to pay for the room again, although I had paid at check-in and I also had the issued invoice. In short, there are much better places in this world to stay and feel welcome!
GGuest UserThis is not an ideal hotel at all. I would not give it anymore than a poor rating. The outer front of the hotel is awful and actually looks like it's closed. Very uninviting! On walking in, I was ”met” (not greeted) by a female member of staff who was OK (she did offer some conversation).... but not the most welcoming of people. I was kept waiting initially while she fetched someone else. In the meantime, I filled in some forms and a rather grumpy and disheveled looking person arrived. He mentioned I had to pay a fee for something but it wasn''t really clear what it was for. I reluctantly paid as it was only 4 euros and I didn't really understand German - had it been anymore, I would might have been more inclined to argue. The room (I was in 107) was frankly reminiscent of something from the Bates Motel. Very old furniture. The room was hot (I had to open the window) and although there was a TV, adequate WIFI, cleans towels etc - the standard was just frankly horrendous. I saw a pube on the wall in the bathroom! For this next part (I take partial responsibility as I WAS warned) but after 10 there is no reception which means you have to take your two keys with you. Now I stupidly assumed it was because the front door would be locked after 10. The real reason is because the hotel room door itself locks behind you. I walked out of the hotel room as I went to see if I could find someone to lend me a fan and the door locked behind me. Without anyone in reception, I was stranded late at night in the corridor. I had to physically climb out of the window and LUCKILY I had left my own open due to the hot weather.... otherwise I don't know what I would have done. I did NOT have the breakfast. It was included in the price but frankly everything seemed so sub-standard that I didn't want to risk it. Honestly, I know you get what you pay for but this wasn't even worth that and I paid approximately £50.

FFlawedI stayed here for 4 nights while attending an International Expo nearby. I chose it due to ts excellent location to the old town square (5 mins walk) and nearby transit options. Check in was painful and laborious having to give all same information again despite booking online and handed an old fashioned key with a giant key ring (a door knob) The gothic decor is initially quite charming with darkened wood and portraits of dead people everywhere. The single room was cramped, tired and dated and boiling hot. With no air conditioning or the ability to open the window more than an inch I was left to roast away while trying to sleep. No sleep was managed. PIllows are thin, mattress is thin, uncomfortable bed. Shower is rubbish and a curtain so short its impossible to not cover the floor in water. No glass in room so had to get one from reception. Breakfast is ok, fairly basic cold options - meat, cheese, bread, boiled egg, cereal and juices. Dining room has some appeal and was tidy with tables cleared quickly. The main advantage of this hotel is the location, there is nothing else.
JjazpopsThe hotel is an easy walk (just a few minutes) from the railway station. It is about two minutes walk to the cathedral which you can see (and hear) from the hotel: the bells chime quite loudly at about 08:00 am and other times. Rooms are a decent size and the beds are very comfortable. It is clean and in the room there is a safe, tv, bathroom with a shower (that oddly has no shower curtain or screen - the floor gets quite wet). Breakfast is good and includes the normal range of hot and cold foods from croissants, toast, bacon, egg, sausage, buns, cereals, hams, salamis, cheeses, coffee, tea, hot water and some really very nice fruit juices (some of the nicest I have tasted in a hotel). The staff in the dining area were really pleasant and friendly. The reception staff were a little more varied but polite and efficient enough. Outside the hotel doesn't look that much but it is generally pleasant and a great base inside. Next door are some convenience store types of shops and a kebab house that I tried and it was exactly the same as back home. McDonalds is just across the road, if that is your thing. We walked to all of the Christmas markets (where we did most of our eating) and around the city centre and down to the Rhine. All are in easy walking distance. There is a bag room where you can leave your bags upon checkout and come back for them later. The security of that was a little lax as people just walked in from the street and took their bags. I went to the reception and told them I was taking mine and the lady looked as if to say, ”ok fine.” No checks. There is also little checking of people walking in from the street and just going upstairs but the doors on the rooms were pretty secure. The lighting is not great in the room and the lights around the hotel are seemingly hanging from their connections. Overall it was a great base from which to explore the city and get to and from. good night's sleep - despite the bells and a good breakfast. I would stay again for a short break in the city.
