The room itself was absolutely fine. But the staff at this pub/hotel really let it down. There were 8 of us staying at this hotel as we had a wedding nearby. In the morning at breakfast there was only one member of staff on. It appeared that he was the only person taking orders, cooking and serving. Which made for slow service. It seemed that everything was a bit of a chore for him and at one point said I was taking the piss because I wanted ice in the water. There was another female member of staff just sat on the sofa (i don’t think she started her shift yet) but could have assisted with small things if he was too busy. The breakfast times are ridiculously early considering hotel checkout is 10. Which meant we had to be down for breakfast before 9am. When it was 9:10 a customer ordered a tea and he complained that it was past 9. My friend tried to order a late to be told “the machine isn’t on yet”. For breakfast?? For checkout there was nobody at the bar again, both staff just sat on a table. I was told “you can give me the keys”. They didn’t get up off their seat to great me I had to walk over to them to hand them the keys. Very poor! The only decent thing was the beds, they were comfy.

Overall, good value for the money. Room comfortable, food pretty good for the price. Attractive building but interior is tired and does not encourage you to stay..could be transformed by decent more comfortable furnishings. However the one thing that could be fixed is the lazy staff attitude. Really they were entirely indifferent to our stay. No friendly welcome, no one asked if our meals were ok..and we had to go to the bar to ask or order every breakfast item. ( We were asked if we wanted sauces but then they were never actually brought) "Stuart and team" might like to reflect on the basics of hospitality!

I stayed for 1 x might as I was working nearby. This is my 2nd stay at this hotel and it was better than my 1st. I checked in online before arrival so just needed to sign 1 x item when I arrived. Check in was quick and I was allocated room 6 on the top floor. There are some stairs so be specific if you book and need easier access. The room itself had 2 x single beds pushed and secured together which made a really big bed; it was comfortable and clean. There were stairs down in to the bathroom which I guess is just due to the nature of the building but this was fine for me. One thing that was a little unusual (photo included) was no blind on the (non-frosted) bathroom window so if you value your modesty just be aware of this. Usual amenities such as tea and coffee in the room and Cross Roads restaurant a 5 minute walk if you don’t fancy eating in the hotel. I would stay again.

We came here during the week for a meal and it was perfect. We arrived and were greeted, being given menus and got our drinks before we went to find a table. It did seem to be busy and were loads of people who had ordered, including a massive table. But our food arrived at less than 30 minutes after we ordered at the bar. One of the burgers was overcooked, but the waiting staff was professional and got a replacement. Besides from that little incident, the food was great! We grabbed some more drinks at the bar. We had a lovely small chat with the bartender. He did seem a bit stress and constantly had customers coming up to order, but he always had a smile and seemed to have done a good job! We will definitely be coming back again!

Me and my family went here for my sisters birthday and to get her kids some ice cream, normally this is a lovely restaurant, we’ve been coming here for years and the staff are normally lovely and so is the food. However this time we went the manager was very rude towards my mum and my sister when trying to order drinks which we obviously didn’t appreciate. We thought that was it and left it alone but then the kids ice cream came out and it was meant to be chocolate and vanilla but we were given some kind of mint ice cream, luckily none of the kids were allergic to mint however if they were it wouldn’t be good at all. I just don’t understand how you can mess up a kids ice cream sundae when theres about 5 things you need to make it, it’s very simple. As well ontop of both of those three of our glasses came out dirty around the rim of the cups, two of the which looked liked lipstick smudges and we had to take one of them back due to how bad it was. The manager also said he’ll be right back to clear our table however by the time we were ready to leave we had to end up moving our stuff to a different table due to it being too crowded, no staff seen outside whatsoever. So overall not a good experience, this restaurant has been ruined and it’s very unfortunate.

We went in to find the reception area had no staff on and had to go find someone ourselves, the man who checked us in was lovely and informed us of breakfast times and the bar closing time but that was it Me and my friends went to a wedding and then came back and I spent some time in my friends room in the outbuilding to then try and go back into the main building to my room to it being LOCKED. I tried to call the ‘emergency number’ over 15 times. We then tried the front pub doors instead which were also locked but we were then greeted by a man out the window who called us ‘stupid’ as I didn’t take my key, he came down to open the door to then tell me I’d be ‘lucky’ if he woke up on time to ‘make me breakfast in the morning’ It’s fair to say I did not have breakfast there and again upon check out there was no one there to give keys to so we just left them on the bar. Regards to the actual stay, the bed was comfy but the windows were very loud at the slightest bit of wind.

Clean, spacious room, clean bathroom, comfortable bed and pillows, good price. Was worried it would be noisy but it wasn’t at all. Slept well. Would stay again and would recommend. _________________________________________________

Was exactly what we were looking for a stop off and overnight stay on a long drive. Beer excellent, meals likewise - excellent, staff attentive. Slightly soured by some over entitled Karen in the bar (overweight, 50+, peroxide blonde woman) lashing out at the young bar staff because they didn't have a goblet type glass for gin! I did breifly step in to offer support to the bar, but this womans behaviour was disgusting (even hough she was stating she had been there for a wake, I'm sure the deceased would have been pleased with this things behaviour, all over the non availability of a glass!) Nevermind. That unsavoury part should not at all be seen as a slight to all who work and frequent in that bar. I felt it a lovely place, nice locals, great staff If I'm ever in the area again, I would certaily go back
