Our stay at Cloud Villa (Yunduanjingyuan Mountain View Homestay) was, without question, one of the highlights of our trip to Zhangjiajie. My friend and I stayed for four nights, and from the moment we arrived until the moment we left, we were treated with a level of warmth and hospitality that far exceeded our expectations. The homestay itself is absolutely stunning. Our room was beautifully designed and tastefully decorated, with breathtaking mountain views that we looked forward to waking up to each morning. Every detail of the room felt thoughtfully curated, and the luxurious bathtub was my favorite way to relax after long days of hiking and exploring Zhangjiajie’s incredible scenery. The service was exceptional from start to finish. After our late-night flight from Xi’an, we were greeted at the airport and driven to the homestay in a beautiful, comfortable car. Every morning we were treated to an incredible homemade breakfast prepared by their wonderful housekeeper. We got to personally choose our breakfast the evening before, and it would be freshly prepared each morning. It was delicious, filling, and the perfect way to fuel up before a day of exploring the national parks. What truly made our stay unforgettable, however, were the people. The homestay is run by an incredibly kind and generous owner who welcomed us not as customers, but as family. She took the time to get to know us, shared stories about her own life, and consistently went above and beyond to make us feel at home. The manager was equally outstanding. He was always ready to help with our luggage, answer our questions, and make sure we were comfortable throughout our stay. Since we were foreigners visiting Zhangjiajie for the first time, his assistance was invaluable. He helped us arrange tickets in advance for both Tianmen Mountain and Zhangjiajie National Forest Park (the “Avatar Mountains”), and recommended optimal routes for us to take making everything incredibly smooth and stress-free. What impressed us even more was the genuine care they showed us as people. During our trip, my friend became sick, and the manager regularly checked in on her to make sure she had everything she needed to recover comfortably. Later, after I slipped and suffered a minor injury while visiting one of the parks, he showed the same sincere concern for my well-being. Their kindness never felt transactional, it was genuine. He really is quite exceptional! The owner saved the best surprise for our final day. We planned to spend the day at Tianmen Mountain before heading directly to the airport. Rather than having us store our luggage in a crowded locker facility, she generously offered to drive us to the park, keep our luggage safely in her own car throughout the day, and then take us directly to the airport afterward. That alone would have been incredibly thoughtful. But then she surprised us again! Before taking us to the airport, she prepared a wonderful homemade meal featuring fresh oysters, shrimp, eggplant, mixed vegetables, and rice! It was one of the most memorable meals of our trip, not only because it was delicious, but because it was prepared with such genuine generosity and care. We left for our flight with full stomachs and even fuller hearts. Because of the incredible hospitality we experienced at Cloud Villa, our time in Hunan became even more memorable than we could have imagined. There are many accommodations with beautiful rooms, but it is rare to find people who make you feel so genuinely welcomed and cared for. She even gave us cute parting gifts to commemorate our stay! To anyone, especially international travelers, planning a visit to Zhangjiajie, I cannot recommend Cloud Villa enough! If I ever return to the area, there is no question about where I’ll stay. I’ll gladly return not only for the beautiful accommodations, but to visit the wonderful people who made us feel like family. Thank you for making our trip truly unforgettable!

We spent just one night at Foggy Valley, but that was enough time to fall in love with this place! The room was very spacious, and the view from the window was simply magnificent. You can tell that the owners and staff paid great attention to quality — everything is made for comfortable sleep and a proper rest. The atmosphere in the room invites you to relax and take your time. I would especially like to mention the staff. The team is simply superb! All the employees speak excellent English and are ready to offer any support, handling any questions with a smile and genuine care. A special thank you goes to the girl who organized an unforgettable walk for us and hosted a tea ceremony. It was incredibly warm and heartfelt — it's moments like these that make a holiday truly special! Another huge plus is that you can order massage services to your room. After a long flight, it was exactly what we needed — our bodies were so grateful! The breakfast is excellent and is served in a very picturesque spot, which charges you with energy for the whole day. The hotel also has a restaurant with a very large and varied menu — we had dinner there, and the food was top-notch, everything was delicious. The hotel grounds are a work of art in themselves. It's especially beautiful in the evening when the lights come on. You can feel the tremendous attention to detail that adds even more charm and beauty to this place. Even in just one night, Foggy Valley gave us so many impressions. We will definitely come back again to enjoy this place for longer! Fantastic stay! Great value for money, and the location is superb. It's about a 20-minute walk from the Forest Park, the facilities are new, and the service is excellent, plus they allow pets for free. The location is excellent. It’s about a 20-minute walk to the East Gate of Forest Park (and roughly 8 minutes from the bus station, where you can catch a bus to the South Gate). The parking lot is right at the hotel, which is very convenient. Hygiene: The bedding was clean, but housekeeping after check-in can be hit or miss since the staff finishes at 12 PM. -0.2 Service: The front desk staff was very welcoming and professional. They even carefully reviewed my booking notes and requests, which was a nice touch and genuinely appreciated. Facilities: The hotel facilities are quite new (they have a Tmall Genie, but the toilet doesn't have a bidet function -0.1, though it is a smart toilet). There's a small issue with the accessibility facilities, as a section is missing -0.25 (however, the hotel staff will assist with luggage). Comfort: The hotel's design is simple and stylish. Dining: The room is spacious, and while they don't offer meals, there is a kitchen. Bonus Points: Not only did I get a room upgrade +0.5, but also a late check-out +0.5, a refrigerator +0.5, and a kitchen +0.5 (on a side note, I even saw a butler helping a foreign guest with Taobao shopping issues). Drawbacks: Despite the no-smoking signs, there was still a smell of smoke in the hallway. -0.5

[Parks info below] I'm glad that I checked out this hostel, good value for money. Room was nice and tidy, lots of electricity sources in bed and common area, curtains, hot shower. I shared the 6 beds dorm with just another girl, and you make your own bed. No toilet paper, no free water refill, no light in bed. It's worth the price. If you extend your stay directly in the hostel it's cheaper than the app. The reception area is more cramped but you can socialize there. Most of the people are Chinese but I also met some foreigners. The guy in the reception speaks English and can give you information, in addition to that I recommend you to do your own research. There are two baby cats playing around, and an adult one. You can get to the hostel from the west railway station by bus line 17 for 2 yuan - last bus at 8:40pm + 15 minutes walk. Location is close to the main avenue where there's a lot of restaurants, and a 24-hour convenience store close to the corner with this same avenue. There are two night markets in the city, one on the avenue like 10 min distance walking to downtown direction, more local, and another one on the street in front of the tianmen mountain cable car, more touristy. The hostel is 15 minutes walking to the central bus station where you can get the bus to zhangjiajie park and 15-20 to the tianmen mountain cable car station. [ATTRACTIONS] Zhangjiajie (avatar), tianmen (heaven's gate) and canyon (glass bridge) are 3 different parks in different locations. The entrance to zhangjiajie gives you access for 4 days. I went the 4 days and enjoyed it very properly. If you're short on time, 2 days will do, but plan it wisely based on your priorities. Gates are 1 hour trip distance from the central bus station - 1h30 at weekends. Also, note that before entering the park with passport and face scan, you need to do an APPOINTMENT for that hour. You usually do it there at the gate, but for a saturday all appointments for that hour were sold out in advance and I had to wait for 45 minutes to go in. Recommended to check in advance especially on weekends. There are 2 types of tickets you can get: including all cable cars and elevator for unlimited time for 450 yuan; or just the entrance (including only free shuttles) for 215 yuan - you still have the option of buying each transport at the park (75 yuan cablecar one-way, 65 elevator one-way). At first, I had understood that to see the avatar mountains, the ONLY way was through the elevator, so I bought the all-inclusive. Turns out you CAN go by free shuttle + hike + free shuttle if you start in the east gate. My favorite part was the huangshi village. For tianmen, the entrance is 260 yuan. Choose the route in advance because some sell out fast. Gold advice: go at least one hour or more BEFORE the hour that you have the tickets for. The hour of your ticket just matters before the very last point before boarding the cable car. The line was MASSIVE and it took me 2h30 waiting on a Monday - ended up getting in 2 hours late than my ticket time and couldn't finish the whole loop: took only the red trail and went down to the heaven's gate. About the Canyon, I can't say much because I decided to skip it and save the 210 yuan ticket - note that this price DOESN'T include the activities, you must pay separately. The package that includes almost* everything is 360 yuan. Last but not least, if you go to the 72 Wonders, there's also an entrance of 88 yuan. You can go/come back with the bus 17 - same line that serves to the west railway station, last bus 8:40pm.

I highly recommend this hotel, mainly because of its shuttle service. It's located right by the Suoxi River and is newly opened, so there's no unpleasant smell. The bathroom has a great shower with good water pressure and a dry/wet separation. The air conditioning also works well, probably because it's new. They offer free coffee, and there are many dining options nearby like Sanxiaguo, BBQ, Western restaurants, and Yabawang. Transportation is also very convenient, with easy access to everything. Seriously, just stay here!

The location is absolutely fantastic! It's a one-minute walk to IFS, one minute to Pozi Street, and five minutes to Taiping Old Street. The subway is just two minutes away. The hotel environment is pretty great; it should satisfy even those with high standards. Regarding facility issues: 1. There's nowhere to hang clothes to dry. 2. The shower drain has poor drainage. Regarding service issues: I'd say there's basically zero service. There was no phone call to confirm my booking beforehand. They didn't notify me in advance about road closures near the hotel. The cleaning staff knocked on my door to clean at 8 or 9 AM. Do I really need housekeeping when I'm only staying one night? Can't they confirm with the front desk if the guest has checked out instead of knocking to check?

We had a one night stay in this beautiful place. We received snacks, water, and watermelon upon our arrival (my favorite fruit!)) Everything was clean, bathroom was modern, and the hotel was able to get us a ride to the hotel at no charge. This was great as they helped with all the luggage straight into the room. They also booked a car for us to the train station. DiDi is difficult in this area so we appreciate the hotel accommodating us. Thank you for everything, highly recommend this hotel!

Great experience all around! Located close to the park gate, nice cozy rooms, good price, but the knock out was the amazing service! Staff was super accomodating and helped us out at every step! We booked a room with a cool transparent bath we really liked! They got tea service and lile 17 cats on the roof which were all very cute and relaxed and playful! The manager there is John and he was absolutely awesome! He spoke english really well and knew some words in german, spanish, french and russian! I talked to him a lot and hes a really well traveled and interesting guy! He was always there and always helping out guests or us! Dude really made our stay too notch, the sentimental value alone will definitely have us coming back and booming this same hotel next time!

Sitting by the water in the early morning or at sunset is especially memorable, with only the sounds of birds and the occasional ripple breaking the silence. The rooms continue that same sense of comfort and simplicity. Built with timber elements, they feel warm and grounded rather than overly polished. Inside, everything is thoughtfully arranged—clean, spacious, and equipped with the essentials for a relaxing stay. Large windows often bring in views of the gardens or ponds, making it easy to feel connected to the outdoors even when you’re inside. The service was outstanding. All my needs and questions were answered promptly. What really defines the lodge is its balance: it offers comfort without losing its natural charm. It’s not trying to be flashy or luxurious in a conventional sense—instead, it succeeds by creating a peaceful environment where the surroundings take center stage. Overall, Zhangjiajie Idyllic Pondside Timber Lodge is ideal for travelers looking for a calm, nature-focused stay. Between the gardens, the serene ponds, and the cozy rooms, it provides a refreshing break from busier, more commercial accommodations.

Great location with an amazing view, very close to the waterfall. It's super convenient that you can also dine on the terrace. The sound of the waterfall at night might not be ideal for those who prefer quiet when sleeping. Overall, it's a good spot, especially considering the price point isn't exactly cheap.
