Romantic Hotels in Hainan, China

The large balcony was such a pleasant surprise! You can see the ocean from every bedroom just by drawing the curtains, and waking up to the sound of the waves in the morning was incredibly therapeutic. The complex has a shuttle service that's available on-demand, and the pool water is crystal clear. It was so relaxing to swim after surfing. There are also plenty of dining options nearby, and food delivery is very convenient.

A lovely hotel in a central location. Among other amenities, the hotel has two pools, one of which is on the third floor with a fantastic view of Phoenix Island. The breakfast was particularly great, offering a wide selection of both Chinese and Western dishes. The rooms are very spacious with stunning views. There is currently construction work going on next door, which is causing some noise. However, this is likely why the rooms are currently being offered at discounted prices. The staff were very friendly. We would especially like to commend Xiao Lin, he was very helpful and took excellent care of us.

My friend and I booked a twin room with two single beds side by side for an excellent price. Upon arrival we were upgraded to a suite with separate rooms and separate bathrooms which was such a surprise and so lovely. Our receptionist Wuyan was very kind and offered excellent service answering any questions and showing patience when we could not speak the local language. We had a view of the pool and the harbour surrounded by mountains and tropical greenery. We are a very short walk to Dadonghai beach. We had a fantastic trip, thank you!

Let me sing praises for Atlantis! This was my child's absolute favorite hotel during our Sanya trip. They were captivated by all the different pools and waterslides, so much so that we didn't even get a chance to visit the indoor playground. **Facilities:** Excellent and comprehensive. Among all the hotels in Haitang Bay, Atlantis definitely has the most extensive facilities. **Cleanliness:** Very good. Hotels of this caliber typically maintain high hygiene standards. **Environment:** It stands like royalty in Haitang Bay. The property is vast, offers a wide variety of amenities, and even has its own commercial area. The grounds are clean and well-maintained, and the pool water is crystal clear. **Service:** Our butler, 'Little Sea Turtle' 🐢, was fantastic! Since our booking was quite last-minute, the butler added me on WeChat right after check-in to ask about our needs. I told them which side of the hotel we preferred, and even though there wasn't a room available immediately, they arranged for us to move to our preferred room the very next day. They notified us of the room change and provided all the necessary amenities. I also mentioned, on a whim, that I'd seen other guests receive certain gifts, and the butler arranged for those for us the very next day! It was such a pleasant surprise to feel that my preferences were truly considered! Our butler, Jeffrey, was unbelievably amazing! I kept meaning to give him a good review, but I've been so busy. Tonight, no matter how late it is, I have to write a proper review for my wonderful butler! He answered every question, promptly resolved any issues, and was incredibly thoughtful of the customer's needs. He's a mature, steady, and principled butler! Encountering a butler like him truly alleviates a lot of the weariness and guardedness one might feel during a trip! My child kept begging to stay longer, and if we hadn't already booked another hotel, we would have absolutely loved to return to Atlantis! Five stars all around! We were completely satisfied with the dining, entertainment, and everything else! Looking forward to visiting again, and again...

Pros: 1. **Convenient Takeaway**: There's a dedicated takeaway locker. You can easily order from Wallace, McDonald's, Luckin Coffee, and nearby supermarkets. 2. **Shuttle Service**: They offer a mini-bus service to and from the high-speed rail station (limited seating, requires advance booking). 3. **Festive Atmosphere**: The hotel really goes all out for holidays! The Christmas decorations and festive fireworks were beautiful – a huge bonus. 4. **Excellent Front Desk Service**: The front desk staff were very proactive in resolving issues, and calls were always answered. Hotel staff were also enthusiastic about helping with luggage. 5. **Great Location**: Very close to Stone Park and Tonggulun, and taxis are easily accessible. 6. **Friendly Cats**: There are adorable (wild) cats around, very friendly and not aggressive towards people. Cons: 1. **Musty Smell in Room**: The room had a strong musty smell (barely tolerable). 2. **Cleanliness Issues**: The hygiene was just okay. There was mold on the walls and air vents, and the bottom of the bathtub was yellowed with uncleaned hair nearby. 3. **Poor Wi-Fi for Apple Users**: The Wi-Fi was not very friendly for iPhone users; it kept disconnecting or failing to connect, so I mostly relied on mobile data. 4. **Terrible Food**: Although the hotel food portions were large, it was incredibly bad. The Baoluo noodles had absolutely no flavor (not just bland). 5. **Noisy Cats at Night**: The kittens were a bit noisy at night (perhaps hungry or something else). I suggest arranging deworming and neutering for the cats, providing a cat house (please don't kill or drive them away) as part of the hotel's 'cute pets' initiative, maybe even creating a cat cafe. For the price of over 400, this hotel is already quite good and offers great value for money.

Amazing value for money! The environment is beautiful, and there are even fireworks at night. The room was clean and tidy with no strange smells, and all the facilities were complete. The bedding was super soft, and I slept incredibly well. The front desk staff were great, answering all my questions and being super attentive. The location is also convenient. I'll definitely stay here again next time I'm in the area!

The biggest drawback is how small the room is; there's barely enough space to open your luggage. The exterior looks really grand and luxurious, but the room layouts are quite poor, and the rooms are genuinely tiny. Service: It was decent; they even upgraded my room. Otherwise, there are only three hotels on the island, and given my budget, I chose this mid-range one. Overall: The small room size is a significant downside, but the accompanying services are good.

This is Wyndham's first hotel in Wenchang, and despite being 10 years old, it's incredibly well-maintained, like a gracefully aged grande dame. The lobby is grand and impressive, exuding an old-money elegance. The hotel offers exquisite afternoon tea, and the balcony is very spacious. Our butler, a handsome young man of Indian-Pakistani descent, was incredibly nice, always available, and incredibly responsive to all our requests. He truly delivered on the emotional value!

The hotel's location is good, but I have a few points of feedback. First, the service is inconsistent; sometimes it's there, sometimes it's not. The lobby door attendant for luggage wasn't always available; a few times, they just stood by and watched guests struggle with their bags. Second, although it was a 'king room,' it was clearly two twin beds pushed together with a thin mattress topper. Sleeping in the middle, you could feel yourself sinking in, and the outlet on the other side was completely out of reach. They just awkwardly made it into a king-size bed. As for the room's ventilation system, I don't know what was going on, but there was a smoky smell every morning. I called about it, but they couldn't find anyone secretly smoking. The hotel bar requires a positive review to get a complimentary plate of soggy peanuts, and they even watched me finish writing the review and uploading three photos before they'd give them to me. That's pretty ridiculous; other hotels offer these for free. A good review is a good review, but waiting for me to finish writing it before giving the item is a first for me. I even mentioned, ”Shouldn't I wait for the drink to arrive before I can take a photo?” Lastly, are there still hotels charging for the mini-bar these days? I think their approach needs improvement.

We stayed in a panoramic room, and the space was both clean and generously sized. You definitely pay for the view, and in this case it’s worth it—the scenery from the room is truly marvellous. Most essentials were provided, and the hotel grounds include several conveniences such as on‑site restaurants, a Starbucks, and a small tuck shop. There were, however, a few areas where the experience could be improved. The swimming facilities were disappointing. Although two pools were technically operational, neither felt inviting or photo‑worthy. One had been converted into a sand pit, and temporary barriers were set up everywhere to block day visitors, which created an eye sore. Construction further took away from the atmosphere. Breakfast offered a decent selection and was sufficient overall, though friends who had visited before mentioned that the spread used to be better. After a few days, you’ll likely find yourself eating more or less the same items. Communication could also be smoother. Having at least one staff member who speaks English—or an alternative text‑based communication option—would make the stay easier for international guests. The Sky Lounge, however, was comfortable and a pleasant place to relax. Dining inside the hotel isn’t particularly affordable, but not too bad for a hotel, and I would have appreciated a stronger seafood selection. Many guests seemed to opt for food delivery instead. Small in‑room additions like earbuds, toothpicks, and a notepad would also elevate the experience. Overall, Phoenix Hotel Sanya offers beautiful views and convenient on‑site amenities, but there’s room for improvement in facilities, dining, and guest communication.
