My stay at A Coral Reefs Resort from 21–23 March started off acceptable, but what happened after check-out was deeply disappointing and raises serious concerns about the hotel’s professionalism and integrity.
After I had already left the property and arrived at the airport, I received a call accusing me of being involved in a missing RM1200 reported by three foreign guests. This accusation was based solely on a vague CCTV clip showing me sitting in the lobby and putting something into my pocket.
Let me be absolutely clear: such an allegation, made without concrete evidence, is irresponsible and unacceptable.
The hotel’s account of the incident was inconsistent and unreliable. I was first told the money was left on a table, and later it was claimed to be inside a pair of pants. The inability to establish even the most basic facts seriously calls into question the credibility of the entire claim.
Even more concerning is the timeline. If the alleged incident took place on 21 March, why was I only contacted on 23 March, after I had already checked out and reached the airport? This delay reflects either poor internal handling or a lack of proper investigation.
The CCTV clip provided was incomplete and unclear. It merely shows me placing my own personal belongings (my phone and medicated oil) into my pocket. There is absolutely no evidence that I handled or took any cash.
Relying on such selective and inconclusive footage to imply wrongdoing is not only unprofessional, but also unfairly damaging to a guest’s reputation.
We have formally requested the full CCTV footage to ensure transparency and proper verification of facts. Failure to provide complete and unedited recordings will only further undermine the credibility of this accusation.
If this matter is not handled appropriately, we will not hesitate to escalate it through formal complaint channels.
Guests should be aware that without clear evidence, this establishment is willing to cast suspicion based on assumptions rather than facts.
ZZoriMI had a wonderful stay at The Bayou Hotel and would definitely come back again.
The location is excellent. Pantai Tengah Beach is only about a 7-minute walk away and Pantai Cenang can be reached in around 15 minutes on foot. Every Night are there Fireshows. Grab rides were also easy to get whenever needed.
What stood out the most was the incredibly friendly and helpful staff. From the moment I arrived, I was warmly welcomed and assisted with my luggage. Throughout my stay, I always felt comfortable, valued, and genuinely welcome.
The room was beautiful, clean(they cleaned everyday) and very quiet. I also loved the pool area and the lovely views. Every morning, two complimentary bottles of water were provided and upon arrival I received a nice welcome snack set. The room amenities were excellent as well, including toothbrushes, a razor with shaving cream and many other thoughtful essentials.
I also tried the food at the hotel and really enjoyed it. In addition, complimentary drinks were offered, which was a very nice touch.
The only minor issue was that the shower water was more lukewarm than hot. However, considering the warm weather in Langkawi, this was not a problem for me at all.
Overall, I was extremely satisfied with my stay. The hotel offers a wonderful atmosphere, excellent service and great value for money. I felt very comfortable throughout my stay and would definitely return. Highly recommended!
ННаталья Г.We stayed at the hotel for two nights. The grounds are well-kept, but not very cozy. It was sparsely populated, the pool was small and green, and our child really wanted to splash around in the pool. We'd chosen a room with a pool, but we didn't get to use it. The location is good, close to the aquarium and Chenang Square. There's an excellent warung nearby; we only ate there, and people we met recommended it, and we often met there. The hotel is okay for 1-2 nights, but nothing more.
GGuest UserThis hotel has great potential, but it's really lacking in maintenance, both in the rooms and common areas. The beach and water color aren't very inviting for swimming. The pool, however, is nice and very large. For the price, you can find better quality hotels in Langkawi.
GGuest UserLocation - a bit remote from the hustle and bustle of Langkawi. No restaurant on site. Limited eating places which are at least a 30 mins walk away with no designated foothpath so you have to walk on the edge of the road. The hotel staff recommended not to walk far after dark as there may dogs barking at strangers. If you have your own transport then it should not be a problem or you could use Grab to get around instead of walking. If you want seclusion, it is a perfect place for a bit of peace and quiet which is what I enjoyed about this hotel.
Service - Excellent from all the staff who are very helpful and obliging about your requests. I had to ask the cleaning staff to get rid of the ants crawling on the terrace in front of the room and they quickly attended to it. Ants will be attracted if you happen to spill any food or drink on the terrace whilst eating out on the terrace and this is to be expected.
Facilities are limited to Tour booking, a communal sitting area in the garden, hot and cold water from about 4 machines situated around the resort for use by all the guests whenever they want to make a hot drink or need some cold water. No Gym, No Swimming pool, no on site Restaurant b.elivered to your room.
Cleanliness - Rooms are not cleaned daily but on request. You can request new Towels when you need them and these will be provided. Your bin has to be put out for the cleaning staff to take it away or you can drop off the rubbish in the large bin located nearby. I was not aware of this so had to ask about it.
Summary - For me it was a very plesant and peaceful stay to unwind which is what I wanted so I extended my stay for a further 2 days. I found the green space offerred by the garden to be a nice change from the urban environment of other hotels. Thanks to all the staff for their help and attentiveness to the requirements of the guests.
GGuest UserAfter such a long time away from the beautiful island of Langkawi, I was truly excited for this trip. After reading many online reviews, I decided to stay at Best Star Resort, hoping for a relaxing and memorable experience. Sadly, the reality did not match the expectations.
First impression matters — and unfortunately, the hotel lobby was extremely hot upon arrival. The only positive part was that we managed to check in 30 minutes early, which we appreciated very much because we were already exhausted after taking the 7AM ferry, renting a car, driving around the island, and getting caught in the rain.
However, once we entered the room, problems immediately started appearing. The room door was in very poor condition and extremely difficult to open. I actually had to walk around searching for housekeeping staff just to help me unlock the door. After finally entering, I noticed there were no towels or even a leg mat provided in the room. Once again, I had to go out and hunt for housekeeping just to get basic necessities.
The second day became even more frustrating. There is a restaurant beside the room area, and the noise level early in the morning was unbelievable. The sound of shutters opening, combined with the loud crows outside, completely destroyed our sleep. To make things worse, the window could not even close properly, allowing all the noise to enter the room easily.
I cannot speak for other rooms, but based on my experience, this stay was disappointing and far below what I expected. Even the breakfast did not feel up to Malaysian hospitality standards. Malaysia is famous for amazing food, but sadly the hotel management really needs to improve the quality and taste.
This trip taught me one important lesson — next time I must be more careful when choosing hotels, no matter how good the online reviews look.
GGuest UserMy stay at Langkapuri Inn didn’t quite live up to my expectations, to be honest. The room was definitely spacious, but the interior felt rather basic and could be improved. Adding simple furniture, such as a couch, would make the space more comfortable. The washroom, in particular, could benefit from some renovation.
That said, the rooftop area is a nice highlight — it’s a relaxing spot to unwind at night, and they even screen movies there, which creates a chill atmosphere. The location is also convenient. It’s an easy walk to Pantai Cenang, and there are plenty of food options nearby.
Overall, while the facilities could use some upgrading, the location and rooftop vibe are definite plus points.
NNoNameHereThis hotel was the most pleasant surprise of our entire trip to Malaysia. From check-in to check-out, the staff were incredibly warm and helpful throughout. The hotel has two floors; the second floor mainly houses the lobby, where you can order free drinks, which was a huge plus! There are also three adorable cats roaming around. Every morning, the hotel provides a complimentary special breakfast in the lobby, and you can tell a lot of thought goes into it. The lobby also offers games like Uno, playing cards, and building blocks to enjoy with friends, and there's a pool table near the bar. While the room's style was a bit on the darker side, it had a great design, and the bathroom was very spacious. I'd definitely choose this hotel again when I return to Langkawi~
AAnonymous UserLocation of the hotel is quite far off a lot of tourist attractions but it's near one of the attraction and that is the sunset cruise. Not many things to do around the area. Service and hospitality provided by the hotel staffs were a 10/10 but the hotel room itself needs a little touch up as it looks quite old already.
SSiferaIts a nice resort tucked away in between Cenang and Kuah town… the entire resort is furnished with Ikea furniture and fittings so if you are a fan of Ikea you would feel right at home. There are generally 2 type of accommodation, 1 villa style with 2 bedroom, ensuite bathroom, living room, kitchen, garden access to the pool and a private doorstep car park, this unit can sleep up to 8 people according to the hotel. Another type of room is a standard hotel room style with direct pool access.
