The bunk beds are designed head-to-toe, so you don't disturb each other, and there are outlets and bedside lamps, which is really practical. The four-person female dorm has its own private bathroom, which is convenient, and everyone is considerate and keeps it pretty clean. The kitchen hygiene is quite poor; the sink is often disgustingly clogged. There isn't a single good non-stick pan; everything sticks terribly, a far cry from industry standards. The location is great, right near Surfers Paradise, with big and small supermarkets and plenty of restaurants nearby, making dining convenient. It's very noisy at night facing the street, but I guess anyone staying in this area enjoys a lively atmosphere. You can store your luggage after checkout, but there are no tags, you just go into the storage room yourself and pick it up. I personally think this is a security risk... I wonder if the business thinks having cameras is enough... but with the current security situation in Europe and America... 😒 It rained the whole two days I was in Gold Coast... what a shame.

The room and public spaces were clean, which was great! It was also convenient to have shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and a hairdryer provided. However, the walls seem a bit thin, as I could hear outside noise and sounds from the hallway. If you're sensitive to noise, I'd recommend requesting a quiet room. Also, the walk from the station is uphill, so it can be a bit challenging if you have a lot of luggage.

Always a great getaway place to go to. Very peaceful and stress free. Facilities are what you would expect from a country hotel and the newly completed bathrooms are a bonus. Unrestored and charming hotel with great artwork everywhere. Excellent meals in the evening and a very good diy breakfast provided in the dining room.

As always this hotel is good value for money. Staff have always been friendly and helpful. Only normally stopped while passing through with work but prefer to stay here than in Emerald. As it is closer to my next destination.

AAnonymous UserThis was my first solo trip to Cairns. It was also my first time staying in a hostel, and with my limited English, I arrived feeling quite anxious. However, everything from check-in to getting my room key could be done online, and since the online system supported Japanese, I had no issues at all. Any questions I had were quickly answered via chat, which was a huge relief. Being a hostel, I didn't have high expectations for cleanliness, but I was pleasantly surprised by how incredibly clean and comfortable it was. Before check-in, I used a locker to store my luggage; it was past the front desk and cost around 800 yen. My room did have a locker, but it didn't have a lock, so remember to bring your own padlock. I was able to borrow a hairdryer from the front desk by leaving my passport as a deposit. For my first solo trip, my first time abroad alone, I was extremely satisfied with my stay at this hostel!

GGuest UserActually Myself and my colleague booked two family cabins for three nights. That is for work and we were the only guests. As per advertised on trip.com we paid for including buffet breakfast. Following day morning when we went for the restaurant we were told they have not been provided our names and we need to pay for breakfast.. So I had to bring my booking print out and show the restaurant staff breakfast was included. Even though they let us eat there they were not convinced and were suspicious I guess. So that day my colleague went to see the manager of the accommodation and he said to me she was not convinced about breakfast was included. My colleague said it was very unpleasant and embarrassing. She told him I need to come down too. But later when I went to see her she said everything is sorted out and problem was they didn't know anything about Trip.com and trip.com send the booking through ******* and wrongly mentioned each of our booking included three adults and the extra payment is for additional adults as they understood. So the third day morning we didn't have issue at the breakfast as our names passed on. But unfortunately last day morning restaurant staff asked us to pay for breakfast because our name was not on the list. Luckily the chef remembered us and he was very politely let us eat. Even though we paid for breakfast we were at mercy of good people. Whole experience was very inconvenient and embarrassing. I think main bungle was done by Trip.com. But management did not bother to completely sort it out. This was my first time with Trip.com and Aaok Moondarra Accommodation Village. My colleague said he did not have issues previously with Trip.com but all those occasions were without breakfast. Other than that accommodation was really good. It had got good Wi-Fi, YouTube and Netflix. My advise is if you book through Trip.com for an accommodation with breakfast make sure with the accommodation that it has been correctly passed on to them.

DDollmeisterOkay here’s my review. The Espy has so much going for it in terms of being central to the entertainment precinct of Cairns Esplanade.  Check in was easy and friendly and the two bunk dorm had its own dedicated ensuite bathroom which was very clean and quite large. The bedroom was clean and the bunks were enclosed wood and steel construction with zero squeaking. Clean towel and linen provided. So that’s all the very good stuff. The not as good things I observed were: - the lounge/common areas were dimly lit, very tired (bordering on festy) furniture and not somewhere I’d socialise due to limited seating, very few power/USB outlets or clean comfortable seating. - The pool…. Or should I call it the tropical punch bowl of various biological matter and other detritus… if you’re keen of growing something fungal on your body, go in…. I decided not to. -Kitchen and meal prep area all seemed clean and safe to get your mung bean and tofu ready for consumption.  - The personal under bunk locker was missing its latch and with two roommates I had to say a little prayer that my gear would be safe inside my enclosed bunk. Overall this was my maiden voyage as a backpacker and at 57 years of age, I’ve stayed in a lot of Hotels and Motels costing far more for way less cleanliness. I rate this place highly for all the good reasons above.  The not so good stuff is easily fixed by management but for $65 per night in peak season, I don’t think you can get any better value in Central Cairns right near the action. Pubs, cafes, night market and the City Lagoon. Thanks Espy crew, you made this old dog’s stay a pleasant one and will be back if and when the opportunity presents itself.

GGuest UserI found this property via Kayak which then led me to Trip.com. After paying I found the property was in a different location to the map and didn't match the photos. The email confirmation had the right photos and that's when I realised something strange was going on. I didn't know I'd be sharing this tiny apartment with a stranger until I turned up. It's basically someone's apartment. The living room has a curtained off area where I think someone else sleeps. The pillow smelled as if someone had already used it. Room just had a broken pedestal fan. The room also doesn't lock so I didn't feel safe leaving anything valuable in there, let alone sleeping with a stranger right next door. Wifi also wasn't working. I left right away and found somewhere else to stay. Not worth the money at all, just a very strange situation. I travel a lot and won't ever be using Trip.com again either. Can't trust it.

For the first time backpacker experience, this hotel with a high local rating is actually transformed from several residential villas, and there is a small swimming pool in the middle yard. Kitchen sharing. Here you can make what you want. The plane arrived late at midnight on the day of check-in. After Ctrip's emergency coordination to adjust the arrival time, Ctrip is still reliable at critical times! The brand is still trustworthy. Go to the designated location and open the first side door, then go to the designated location at the front desk to pick up the room key. The family room has a large bed, a small bed, and a large sofa in the living room. Actually, it can be used for four or five people. In short, if the requirements are not too high, the price is 0k. Another thing is the hotel staff service is very nice! After opening the first door on the night of the check-in, we happened to meet the hotel manager and checked in directly for us without leaving that night. We also took the initiative to tell us about the use of the hotel. This hotel is recommended, Ctrip platform is reliable!

JJerseyOFWMy stay was nothing short of excellent! The property is conveniently located very close to the beach, making it easy to enjoy the sun and surf. One of the highlights was the friendly atmosphere among guests; many spent time by the pool, chatting and sharing stories with one another. Additionally, having access to a kitchen allowed to prepare own meals, adding to the comfort of my stay. Ms. Mary, the owner, is incredibly accommodating and always ready to assist with any requests. Her warm hospitality made my visit even more enjoyable. I wholeheartedly recommend considering Palms at Parmer for next getaway. If given the chance, I will certainly return!

JJochen SchleissAfter a long day of driving, i arrived at the place because i just needing a place to sleep for the night. It’s basic, as expected, but at least it was clean. The room was small and plain, with just the essentials—a bed, a desk, with shared bathroom. It wasn’t particularly comfortable, and the amenities were minimal, but it served its purpose as a quick stopover. The staff was polite enough, and while it’s not somewhere we’d stay for more than one night, it worked for what we needed: a budget-friendly, no-frills place to rest before hitting the road again.
