The quality of this chain varies wildly, some are terrible, others are pretty good! This one is newly opened, so the facilities are brand new, but the soundproofing is really poor! The bathroom design is excellent though.

This hotel is great, conveniently located near R&F and the JB immigration office, as well as JB Station. It's also easy to find food nearby. However, the hotel's current name isn't yet discoverable on maps. So, if you're using Grab or setting your destination, you'll need to use the old hotel name: Fives Hotel Meldrum. That name is accurate on location maps. If you search for the current hotel name, the address isn't correct. So, please use the old hotel name, Fives Hotel Meldrum. Hopefully, the name and address will be updated to match soon, to make it easier to find.

I have stayed at this hotel several times because the rooms are generally comfortable and the location is convenient. Unfortunately, my recent experiences with the front desk service have been disappointing and have affected my overall impression of the property. During my most recent stay, the hotel required a RM50 cash deposit upon check-in. As I did not have sufficient cash on hand, I asked whether a credit card or Touch ’n Go payment could be used instead. The male receptionist working the night shift informed me that neither option was accepted, leaving me with no choice but to provide a RM100 cash deposit. Shortly after I completed my check-in and walked away, I could hear him immediately continuing a personal phone conversation in Mandarin. Although he spoke to me in English throughout our interaction, it appeared that he had been engaged in the call before I arrived. This gave me the impression that guest service was not his priority at that moment. What made this more disappointing was that this was the same receptionist I had encountered during a previous stay. On that occasion, he was handling my check-in but stopped midway to settle payment for his food delivery. I was left waiting while he attended to his personal matter and was not informed or even asked to wait. As a guest, I found this unprofessional, as the check-in process should have taken priority. My check-out experience during this stay was also less than ideal. I had extended my stay by one hour, so the deposit refund needed to be adjusted accordingly. The receptionist handling my check-out asked whether I had RM20 cash so that she could return my RM100 deposit more conveniently. Considering that I had already explained during check-in that I did not have sufficient cash, the request felt more like a matter of staff convenience than guest convenience. Throughout the interaction, her body language gave me the impression that she was reluctant or inconvenienced by the situation. When she handed over the cash, I thanked her, but there was no acknowledgement or response. While the correct amount was eventually returned, the interaction felt cold and unwelcoming, which was disappointing as it was the final impression of my stay. The hotel itself is decent, with clean rooms, comfortable accommodation, and a convenient location. However, the front desk team creates the first and last impression of a hotel, and unfortunately the service I experienced fell short of expectations. I hope management can review these incidents and reinforce the importance of professionalism, attentiveness, and prioritising guests during check-in and check-out.

All necessities are provided. Including toothbrush, toilet paper, tissue paper and tower. A small lift build in. There is a water dispenser at the walk way. Forgot to take the photo in the day. Best price and not too far to Sutera mall. Around the hotel have a lot of Korean restaurants.

The check-in counter staff was very friendly and helpful. The family room we had -- Rm # 201 was spacious and clean. The bed was very comfortable. The room was surprisingly quiet; maybe it was because it was a cul-de-sac room. Bathroom was basic but clean. The only thing I dislike was the shower head, which had a spray setting so spread out that caused us to take longer to shower. The bidet water pressure so strong that it's 'hard to use. If the hotel could fix these two problems, it would have sweeten the deal even more. The room cost around $37 at the time of my booking. Overall the hotel makes a good choice in this price range for a one to two nights' stay. P.S. The hotel is located very near to Aeon, where an overhead bridge leads to the other side of the road with lots of f&b offerings.

Can see the cleaners hard at work to keep the place sparkling clean, though the bedsheet seems abit yellowish and towel railings rusty. Maybe time to upgrade fittings. They have a sitting area where u can grt free drinks (milo, coffee etc) from dispenser machine.

The Deluxe King room is large and comfortable and more space than the standard room. It also has a large toilet/shower. There is no bin the toilet, had to use the one bin in the bedroom. There are some amenities such as toothbrushes and soap but hidden in a small black tray in the corner of the long table below the TV, under the mineral bottles. If room is not bright because the curtains are not fully drawn, you would miss it which happened to my group. We booked 4 rooms and none of us knew there were toothbrushes provided, some of us went out to buy. One of us only discovered the existence of the tray the next day! Also, there are 2 TV controls and no instructions on the back of the controls nor in the room on how to operate the controls; one is for switching tv on/off only and one for controlling channels/sound. Had to approach the counter staff who then came into the room to explain. It would be much more pleasant experience if the counter staff just give a mention about where these things or how to work them at the time we were checking-in, and Before we have to ask. On the Sat night, there was some disco music playing from a distance away where the sound is not audible but the base beat-by-beat vibrations could be felt in the air even though all the windows were shut and locked down, and this went on the WHOLE night and gave me a poor sleep. I was surprised why this happened as I chose this hotel because many reviews from guests say the Milano hotel has good sound-proof rooms. I later discovered gaps in my windows even when they are shut and the gaps are not filled-up/sealed in room 208! Thankfully, the horrible music did not play on the Sunday night. I could put up with the other inconveniences which are minor, but if there were to be sound disturbances throughout the night, having the gaps in the windows was disappointing. Positive side, I like the availability of water to top up our tumbler at the front office area, besides the 2 bottles of mineral water in the room.

The hotel staff are friendly and ready to attend to your request. The room has aircon and instant water heater for shower. There is WiFi in the room. It provides kettle, ironing board and iron, shampoo and bath soap, small fridge and bath towels. Complimentary tea and coffee and bottled water daily. The window has blackout curtain as well as a day curtain for extra sunlight into the room. Seating area, big mirror and dressing table, TV, side table and lamp. I like it that the room is spacious and water pressure is good. It provides Muslim prayer mat and Quran translation in the room. Hang the card at your door if you want the room to be cleaned. Short walk to Larkin bus terminal and eateries and shops. For those who drive, there is parking space within the hotel.

GGuest UserHad a gathering nearby so booked this hotel. Just a very basic place for a cheap 1 night stay, any longer you might be better off elsewhere. - 24 hours KK mart beside if you need to get something. - Floor feels a bit sticky and no hotel slippers provided. - Wardrobe wall was rather yellow / looks moldy? (I am actually not sure what's the condition) so I avoided using it

GGuest UserGemini said I recently stayed at Hako Hotel (Taman Universiti) in Skudai and had a pleasant experience overall. The standout feature is definitely the bed; it was exceptionally comfy, providing a great night's sleep after a long day of traveling. The room layout is modern and efficient, making the most of the space. Regarding the facilities, I really appreciated the water dispenser provided in the lobby, which is a convenient and eco-friendly touch for refilling bottles. Parking was also completely stress-free, as there are ample parking lots available right around the building. My only minor critique would be the toilet cleanliness, which I found to be average—it wasn’t dirty, but it could definitely benefit from a more thorough deep clean to match the high standard of the bedroom. Overall, it is a great, value-for-money choice for a short stay in Skudai!

AAnonymous UserWent with 4 kids. House big enough. 3 bedrooms. Master room was big and spacious. With a floor mattress. a king size bed and attached toilet. 2 common bedrooms. 1 room with a king/queen size bed and single size bed. The other room with 1 king/queen size bed. Living room has a sofa bed. Possible for 1 pax to sleep comfortably. Toilet looks old. And master bedroom toilet has an odour. Quite bad. No complains about sound. But heard one or two loud door slams only which i thought is okay because it happens at home as well. The wind, the kids, accidentally. Neighbours seems good. No noise from them and don't even bump into any. But from each room cannot hear each other. Morning around 530am will hear the morning prayers from one of the common bedroom that has 2 beds. The other rooms didnt hear it or perhaps deep asleep. Haha. And another prayer session around 430pm afternoon. Last about 30min. If very tired should be able to fall back to zzz again. My kids did. Towel has a smell. But we don't use as we use to bringing our own towels. I like that there is security counter but not to deposit your luggage prior check in. Anything just ask them and check in is very smooth. Instructions from owner was very clear and direct. Less than 5 min to check in. Early check in allowed at a charge if there's no guest prior. Very nice owners. Reply via whatsapp. And they provided small water bottles and coffee sachets. Quite surprise they do as most, doesn't provides. And a few trash bags .. good! Overall the stay was ok as we only sleep there. No other activities.

GGuest UserCons: No locker provided; Not-welcoming receptionist; access card not working; roommate talking to the phone till midnight which was disturbing, earplugs given but ineffective to block noise; room door broken and couldn't lock; toilet was smelly and floor was always wet; some dirt on the table inside my cubicle; see-through blind; the dorm was probably meant for long-term working occupants as there were some weird rules. Pros: walking distance to Komtar JBCC and CIQ; towel (dirty), toothbrush and earplugs (not useful) were provided; being the most effortable option at time of booking. This was my first time staying in a capsule hostel. Honestly, it was a mixed and slightly negative experience but for a short rest it is still marginally acceptable.
