BryceWuNo hairdryer was provided, and the towels and bath towels looked very old, almost as if they weren't clean. The room door was incredibly difficult to open and lock; the host explained it three or four times before I finally got the hang of it, but it was still a struggle to operate. Even though Samarkand had already canceled the tourist tax by the time I checked in, the host still charged it. As for breakfast, it was very mediocre.

Forrest.FA true gem in Samarkand! The host, Sanjar, was incredibly helpful and did all he could to make me feel welcome and taken care of. The room is spacious and has a beautiful charm to it, and the location is ideal - less than 10 min to Registan and other major sites. there is also access to a kitchen and everything you need.
I did feel the bed was too firm for my liking, but that is just my preference and others may enjoy that for their sleep. Overall an excellent stay and I’d happily book again.

Guest UserI thought this hotel was a fantastic value. I am a budget traveler and just want a clean, safe place with good wifi. This place was perfect for me. The location is incredible and convenient to the main attractions of the city. The farthest is the Prophet's Tomb, which is maybe a 40-45 minute walk. Everything else is just 5-15 minutes away. There are a bunch of restaurants, shopping, ice cream stands all around, including the bottom of the hotel is adjacent to a restaurant. The room itself was perfect. I had Room 12, which has a window that opens for lots of fresh air. It opens to a room with no visible others, so you get a lot of privacy as well. The wifi worked perfectly and the breakfast was a nice touch. I didn't see any bugs and had no problems with anything at all. The place was clean and I really enjoyed my stay.

ScubaHaleyMy husband and I loved our stay here. The family that runs this guethouse was so kind and knowledgable. The area was excellent for site seeing around Samarkand, which was very helpful during early mornings when we were trying to beat the crowds and the heat. This is technically a hostel, our room and private bathroom was fairly small, but this is reflected accurately on the booking and suited us very well. They also gave great advice as to what to do, where to eat, and where to skip. The breakfast was also lovely.

Guest UserThe hostel is located in the Old Town, which is convenient as the bus stop is only a 3-minute walk away. However, it's situated in a small alley, and there's a stretch of road without streetlights when returning from the main square, which felt a bit unsafe at night.
The owner was always helpful in solving various issues, for example, when I wanted to boil a couple of eggs in the morning.
There's a water dispenser available in the common area, which is handy.
The day before I checked in, guests reported no hot water, initially thinking it was due to late-night usage. The next day, it was still cold. When asked, the owner said a circuit breaker had tripped. Once fixed, the water was very hot, so it's important to report any problems promptly.
It was advertised as a 4-bed dorm, but it was actually a 5-bed dorm, which was quite a surprise. The owner claimed it couldn't be changed on the platform, a reason I found hard to accept. Even if the main listing couldn't be altered, they could have added a note in the remarks section. Otherwise, it feels like deception, especially for a 'non-refundable' booking where no money is returned. This was the case for both the female and male dorms.
With many guests staying, the cleanliness of the common areas struggled to keep up.
Also, I didn't seem to find any lockable personal lockers.
The owner, who uses a wheelchair, runs this hostel, which is commendable, and the price is good. However, the issues mentioned above do exist. Luckily, I only stayed for one night as a stopover.

Advantages: 1. Excellent location. Approximately a 15-minute walk from Registan Square. 2. The front desk staff were very helpful, assisting with luggage up and down stairs even without an elevator. 3. There's a viewing platform on the third floor with sofas and tables, suitable for leisure travelers. Disadvantages: 1. Room types are not standard; the size of the double rooms varies. When no rooms were available, I was given a triple room with a bed that appeared to be only 0.8 meters wide. 2. There's no POS machine at the front desk, and the prepaid deposit cannot be deducted from the room rate; only cash payment is accepted.

Guest UserCleanliness: Although the hotel is a bit old, it's incredibly clean and well-maintained. There were no strange odors inside, which shows their excellent housekeeping and odor control. The lobby always had a faint fruity scent, and our room was spotless.
Facilities: The hotel breakfast was fantastic! Besides standard items like coffee, tea, milk, juice, and eggs, they offered a variety of fresh fruits, vegetables, dairy products, and local pastries every day. For tourists who spend their days exploring, such a high-quality breakfast is essential. The complimentary bottled water in the room daily was also very practical!
Service: All hotel staff spoke fluent English and Russian, so communication was never an issue. They were polite, friendly, and always willing to help. We needed to book an English-speaking tour guide for the next day; after explaining it to the front desk, they immediately helped us contact someone and quickly finalized the booking. The day after our tour, upon returning to the hotel, the staff even followed up to ask if we were satisfied with the experience, showing truly excellent service.
Environment: The hotel's location is superb, situated within a pedestrian street, making it very safe. Most major attractions are just a 10-minute walk away. There are many guesthouses and shops nearby, and a square not far off where many locals stroll and walk their children after the sunset cools down, making for a very pleasant evening walk.
Overall, we were extremely satisfied with our experience at the Sangzor Hotel and highly recommend it to other visitors coming to Samarkand!

HuhushengThis hotel is incredibly clean, and the front desk staff, especially the young man, was very welcoming and polite. The environment is really comfortable with a lovely little garden. They offer a free and delicious breakfast. On our second morning, we had to leave at 6:30 AM to catch our ride, and they even prepared a complimentary packed lunch and hot tea for us. The tea was still piping hot when we received it! Five-star recommendation!

The room I got at this hotel was surprisingly good – clean and tidy! Since I was leaving Samarkand the next day, and this place was affordable and relatively close to the train station, I decided to stay here even though the amenities listed 'no bathroom.' Turns out, it had a bathroom, and it was a great wet/dry separation setup! I actually discussed this with the owner; he didn't understand Chinese and wasn't aware that the platform stated 'no bathroom,' so he'll be updating that. The owner was incredibly kind. He knew we were coming and waited for us at the entrance, and even helped us get a taxi when we left. He's honestly the best hotel owner I met in all of Uzbekistan, absolutely fantastic! I hope my Chinese friends who see this review will choose this hotel when in Samarkand, Uzbekistan – you'll thank me later. Sorry, I forgot to take pictures, so I'm using the hotel's photos.
