4-Star Hotels in Hovedstaden, Denmark

Came here based on a recommendation from Xiaohongshu, but I have to say it's more about looks than functionality. The design is really strong, but the actual room functionality for staying here is pretty mediocre. I wouldn't recommend it for business travelers. The room is very dark, only suitable for a leisurely stay. Overall, this hotel feels like it's all style and no substance.

Reason for choosing this hotel: The location is superb! It's very close to Copenhagen Central Station, about a 3-minute walk. Plus, there are cheap supermarkets, a 7-Eleven, two metro stations nearby, free luggage storage, and breakfast included. All things considered, even though it cost NT$13,000 per night, I think it was well worth it! 1. I sent an email with questions beforehand; the first one got no reply, but the second one was answered within a day. The front desk staff seemed young and energetic. 2. The room was more spacious than expected. Four people could open their 24-inch suitcases without any problem. There was a large enough wardrobe and excellent lighting. However, after exiting the elevator, we had to climb four more steps to reach our room (I guess it's connected to another building). 3. The room had a capsule coffee machine (with two bottled waters) and tea bags, which were all quite good. 4. The bathroom had a separate wet and dry area. The hairdryer was wall-mounted in the bathroom, but the airflow was a bit weak and it overheated. We ended up borrowing another one from the front desk. If you're particular, it's best to bring your own. 5. The breakfast selection wasn't huge, but I think it was thoughtfully prepared. There were self-serve tea sets, various flavored drinks, fresh fruit, yogurt, delicious bread (Danish croissants were really good!), tasty boiled eggs, and simple hot dishes. What was a bit unusual was that the coffee was served in a large pot on the table; it wasn't as good as freshly ground coffee and tasted just average. It was okay with oat milk. 6. A thoughtful touch was that we arrived at around 8 AM on the check-in day. We were given a card that allowed access to the ground floor restrooms (two quite spacious ones) and the luggage room. The lobby was very comfortable, and I felt like a lady of leisure just taking photos there! We also stored our luggage until 8 PM on the check-out day. 7. If I had stayed at another hotel, I might have had to spend an extra NT$1,000+ for luggage storage. So, even though this hotel seemed expensive at first glance, I think it offered great value for money. It's important to consider these hidden costs.

1. Located right in the city center, a leisurely stroll to the New Port and back only takes about 2-3 hours. 2. It's an old building but newly renovated. The room isn't small and the decor is cozy. 3. I saw some feedback that the elevator only worked on half-floors, and it seems the hotel noticed because it's fixed now. On my first stay, if you have luggage, they'll take you to an elevator that doesn't require climbing stairs (it's a bit out of the way, behind the restaurant). 4. Two points to note: (1) The shower stall is particularly small; you'll hit the walls just trying to turn around. (2) There are no facial tissues. (I checked the supermarket, facial tissues are quite expensive, while toilet paper is fine. It's hard to say if this is for ”sustainability” or cost-cutting. If it's truly for environmental protection, they could learn from some places and just use hands and water, no paper needed at all!)

There are three Scandic hotels nearby, so make sure you don't get them mixed up! We stayed at the Scandic Copenhagen, which is a modern high-rise. The rooms are spacious with soft beds, and the large windows offer a great view of people cycling past. Directly opposite is the uniquely designed Planetarium. Bus route 26, just a block away, takes you to the main attractions, which is very convenient. There are excellent Chinese, Japanese noodle, and Vietnamese pho restaurants all within close proximity. It's less than a 10-minute walk to the train station with luggage, and the train ride to the airport takes only 12 minutes. The breakfast spread is extensive, and you can even make your own waffles.

Overall, we had a good stay. The service was great from the beginning - check-in was smooth, luggage storage was available, and the staff were genuinely kind and helpful throughout our stay. There were also some nice extras for members, including wine and champagne hour. The hotel has two restaurants and a bar, and the location is very convenient. You can rent bikes directly from the hotel, and there are also plenty of city bikes just outside. The parking area is massive as well, which is useful if you’re arriving by car. The standard room was quite small, although that’s not too surprising for Copenhagen, and for a three-day stay it was perfectly manageable. The main downside was the cleanliness. There was a water carafe in the room that you’re supposed to fill yourself, but ours was covered in dust and looked like it hadn’t been cleaned for quite some time. The iron and board were also quite dirty and very cheap quality forcing me to iron my dress for 30 min as the dry cleaning service wouldn’t be able to return dress in time. We also didn’t manage to have our room tidied during the stay. Housekeeping arrived fairly late in the day while we were getting ready to leave for a wedding, so we asked if they could come back later, but unfortunately they never returned. Despite those issues, we still had a positive experience overall, mainly because of the excellent staff, convenient location and facilities.

Overall decent stay. My room was very basic, it had no blackout curtains, no large mirror and a small sink. Otherwise clean and comfortable, with very nice toiletries, as well as good tea. Plenty of noise from the road, so I wouldn’t really stay here without ear plugs and an eye mask. Slippers were provided on request, the kind of cost cutting you wouldn’t expect when summer prices exceed 200€/night. For international standards, this would be considered a higher end budget stay, but for Copenhagen it’s very solid. The most disappointing part was that I had a poor interaction with one of the staff members on my last day. I called reception to ask if late check-out was available. I was told I can check out at 1PM for 150dkk. I specifically thought that was quite cheap. When I went to the reception, they told me I’d actually have to pay 250dkk, not 150dkk. This wasn’t a significant problem, probably just a misunderstanding, plus I wouldn’t make a scene for 100dkk. However, I did tell the staff member that she said it was 150 on the phone and she seemed to be offended and responded very condescendingly. I just wanted to pay and get out of there. Didn’t really expect an apology, maybe she did actually say 250 and I misheard or maybe she said 150 and misspoke, it’s impossible to say for sure. I was just hoping for a less conflictual attitude, as I wasn’t trying to dodge the fee or start an argument.

The supermarket and subway are very close and convenient, and it's not as noisy as the city center. Check-in is on the top floor, where there's a rooftop garden restaurant with an artistic vibe. I'd definitely stay here again if I have the chance. There's a pantry for self-service refills of some supplies, and you need to use a key card to access floors, which adds to the security. The open kitchen has a dishwasher and refrigerator. The only thing to watch out for is the extra-large hanging lamp – if you're not used to it, you might bump your head. Also, you need to climb stairs to get to the bed, so seniors and children should be careful.

The hotel building is distinctive, with a lobby that is arranged to be warm and cozy. The merchandise is exquisite, and the breakfast at Tiger Lily is abundant; besides the buffet bar, you can also order omelets prepared by the chef. There is a café and a shop in the lobby. I personally ordered coffee and fries, which were delicious. I also bought a stylish suitcase and some candies, feeling that the facilities adequately meet the needs of travelers. The hotel rooms are spacious, designed with a lively and unique style, resembling a fashionable cabin. Complimentary snacks and beverages are provided in the room, along with a WiFi speaker. The beds are warm and comfortable. Just across the bridge from the hotel is Newport, and nearby there are local outdoor eateries and an ice-skating rink, making the area quite vibrant. The hotel is within a 5-minute walk to bus 2A, which goes to the city center, reaching Liberty City in just one stop, so transportation is relatively convenient. Overall, this hotel is highly recommended.

The room was stylish, beautifully decorated, and had a pleasant atmosphere. There was enough space to open two large suitcases, but it left little room to walk around. The bathroom had an unusual design that took a bit of getting used to, and there wasn't a dedicated space to put clothes before showering. There was no wardrobe in the room, but the lighting was good, not too dim. You could request extra bottled water from the mini-fridge. There were two sets of 3-4 steps on the walkway from the lobby to the rooms, which might be inconvenient for guests with large luggage. The hotel didn't offer bellboy service, but staff could assist with heavy bags if needed. The elevator lighting was quite dim compared to other areas of the hotel. The lobby area was comfortably air-conditioned and featured both a library and a vinyl room for relaxation. Breakfast offered a wide and quite comprehensive selection. The hotel's location in the old town was surrounded by walkable attractions, restaurants, and local shops, making it ideal for those who want to explore the city at a leisurely pace. Overall, the hotel is best suited for travelers with smaller luggage planning a 2-3 night stay to fully experience the old town's atmosphere on foot.

Excellent location for an overnight stay near Copenhagen Airport. The hotel is conveniently connected to the terminal, making it especially suitable for business travellers or those with an early flight. The room was comfortable and generally clean, while the facilities and service were good. Check-in and check-out were smooth. Overall, a convenient and pleasant stay, although there is still some room for improvement in cleanliness and service.
