4-Star Hotels in Centre-Val de Loire, France

Good and convenient hotel if you are on a train. To the station go minutes 2-3. To the city center go 10 minutes. There is a former chic, but the hotel itself looks very shattered, there is the smell of old age, but if it doesn't embarrass you (for example we were ok) - that's a good option. Breakfast is ok. The only thing - the room was noisy, it's better to take the beer with you.

The hotel is a 10-minute walk from Tram A stop. The rooms are spacious and very clean. The welcome was warm, with attentive staff. Negative points: two small beds pushed together instead of a queen-size bed, which is ultimately quite uncomfortable. There's no ironing board in the rooms; you have to ask for it. At the Daniel restaurant, you can't eat if you don't make a reservation. A major drawback is the €200 security deposit 😒.

The hotel is an old building, it looks very classical, but it seems that the paint is still used to hit the floor, the taste is very big. Because I went back to dinner very late at night, I lay down and found that the taste was already in the middle of the night. I was sorry to disturb. I sat with the window open for one night and was very helpless.

A very pleasant surprise. The location is next to Chartres station for quick access to the trains (but it is not noisy). The town is also compact, so walking to the main attractions such as the Chartres cathedral is only 5-10 minutes away, and there are restaurants and cafes nearby. The room was clean, and well-furnished. In my room, there was a small kitchenette for self-catering. Hair dryer was also provided in the room. There were two staff members (one in the morning and afternoon), who spoke excellent English and were very friendly and accommodating. Their attitude was no different than that of the staff members of a 5-star hotel.

The room was larger than expected and had a balcony facing the Loire. Driving all the way here, it's easy to find the hotel location. The breakfast is good, you can choose all kinds of food you like, but it is purely French food.

I recently stayed at the Hôtel de Bourbon (the Mercure one) in Bourges, and honestly, it felt like stepping into a little piece of history while still having all the modern comforts you could want. My room was a classic double, spacious, clean, and very comfortable. The bed was excellent—properly supportive after a day of wandering around—and the bathroom had a great walk-in shower with good water pressure. Everything felt freshly renovated (they did a big update around 2018), with a nice blend of modern touches and the old abbey character. Some rooms overlook the park, which must be lovely in summer.

It was great. The room was quite large, and the common dining area was beautiful. The bread was soft and fluffy. Amboise Castle is very large, dating back to the 15th century, and it's right next to the Loire River. I feel that if we had time, we could climb to the top and see the valley from there; it would be very beautiful. We were a little disappointed that we didn't go this time.

The perfect hotel for visiting different chateaux close to Tours. If you have lots of train travel like we did, stay here. Spacious room, very funky design —our room had a private “cinema” in the room, fabulous breakfast and very friendly staff. The only addition that we would have liked is a kettle in the room and perhaps a bit more amenities like conditioner and cotton buds etc. All in all, a great stay!
