4-Star Hotels in Johor, Malaysia

We recently stayed at St. Giles Southkey Johor Bahru for four nights. The hotel is very popular, largely because it is directly connected to Mid Valley Southkey Mall, making shopping and dining extremely convenient. Breakfast can get quite busy and crowded, especially during peak hours. However, if you prefer a quieter experience, it’s better to go during the last 45 minutes before breakfast closes. The staff were efficient in replenishing food items promptly, even when demand was high. There were five coffee machines available, which helped to manage the crowd well and kept waiting times reasonable. The overall buffet spread was average—not exceptional, but sufficient. Housekeeping was satisfactory, with rooms maintained to a decent standard throughout the stay. One downside is the check-in time, which is after 3pm. This is slightly later than the typical industry standard in Malaysia and may be inconvenient for some travelers. Overall, it’s a solid and convenient hotel choice.

2nd stay and loving each stay as smooth self-checking in and self-check out. After confirmation, sent details to number provided and collect key card at e locker upon arrival. Videos and location to collect key card provided after booking confirmed. Asked for an early check in. Easy access to eateries, a mall opposite, mini marts below. Gym and pool at level 8. Clean, quiet and great for a short get away. Perfect for solo traveler, business trip, families and couples who wants some quiet holiday.

Space Residency’s location is unbeatable. It’s truly at the centre of Singaporeans’ shopping Mecca - KSL City Mall. The environment is still disheveled because it is still in the stage of outfitting. But as with all things Malaysia, there is immense upside potential for this project once it is fully outfitted. The swimming pool looks awesome and the gym, dance studios and other amenities are on par with the best of those in Singapore. Johor Bahru has so much potential it is simply impossible to ignore this short stay and normal residential project. My stay with MapleHome has been good. There is no extraneous amenities but one can make do if you are only here to shop and get massages. Don’t plan to stay in your studio room as the renovation noise from other units literally drive you mad.

This is always my go-to hotel whenever I'm in JB. The location is great, and they have an amazing infinity pool. The gym facilities are also quite good, and the overall environment is beautiful, pleasant, and comfortable. Plus, the breakfast spread is plentiful with lots of choices.

The hotel service was fairly quick to assist us with our aircon issue in our room, however, we had to reach out to the front desk directly to change our room after being told that our aircon had an issue and we needed to change rooms. We also called for some water bottles and mugs in our new room, but only the water bottles came, without the mugs. The breakfast was great, with a variety of cuisines. Amenities in the room were great, except there was no YouTube/Netflix which is questionable given that most 4-5 star hotels provide this. Overall, I think the hotel service was fairly good, but could be more attentive in responding to guests’ requests.

Decided to book last minute - initially cant book for family of 2A2C. WhatsApp them, replies was….sluggish. Finally manage to book and the room was…not like the initial ones. Previous booking it was really great. Room size room cleanliness. The room we got was small but there’s multiple hairs on the carpet. Especially with kids, that was just a no no. Call them via the phone provided, was put on hold and the line got cut off 🙂 Tried calling again, took quite a while before finally got connected. Upgrade the room for RM80. Whatever that was book on trip wasn’t as per advertised. Second, it was drizzling. So we went downstairs to take a look at the swimming area. There’s no towels. Call the front desk ask if the swimming pool is open, they mention “I think it’s open” Breakfast was subpar.

Great Location & Excellent Service! Citrus Hotel Johor Bahru is a fantastic choice if you’re looking for convenience and comfort. The location is unbeatable — right in the heart of the city, close to shopping malls, restaurants, and just a short drive from the Causeway if you’re crossing to Singapore. The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming from the moment you check in. Any requests were handled quickly and with a smile, which really made the stay feel special. Rooms are clean, comfortable, and good value for the price. Perfect base for exploring Johor Bahru without the hassle of long commutes. Would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting JB!

First time in Johor Bahru and I chose this hotel. The location is very convenient, not far from the customs checkpoint, and within walking distance to R&F Mall and Jalan Tan Hiok Nee. The staff are well-trained, friendly, and always ready to help. The hotel breakfast was a pleasant surprise, offering a wide variety of dishes including Chinese, Malay, and Indian cuisines – an incredibly rich selection. I'll definitely choose DoubleTree again next time I visit Johor Bahru.

A large 20-30 years old hotel building. Clean , very large guest room with city view on the high floor. Fast check in and friendly staff. Very good buffet breakfast. Good water pressure at the high floor bathroom. None smoking rooms are available, but sometimesl smell of the smoking still coming from room ventilation. Good room price. Will stay again if I come to Johor Baru.
