Hotels near Avropa Liqası Muzeyi in Baku

I don’t normally take the time to review places but considering that they market themselves as a 5 star hotel I want to make sure other people considering this hotel know what to expect at least. For context We stayed in this hotel for a week as a family (2 kids) in a connecting family room. First off when we arrived and checked in, the guy at reception said they would check our documents and to please wait in their restaurant. We ordered some drinks and waited. Meanwhile suddenly they start blasting Indian music so loud in the restaurant (it was only us and another family there) that we had to go ask them if they could please turn it back down again. I don’t know for who or why they put the music on so loud. This also happened when we ate breakfast one morning. After maybe 20 minutes we went to ask reception how check in was going and were only told that “they were checking”. We decided to go and get some late lunch since we didn’t know how long we needed to wait for them to “check” whatever they were checking. If the room wasn’t ready, it wouldn’t have been a problem if they simply said so and gave us a time frame for when it would be ready. But this was a taste of the service to come unfortunately. We had a connecting family room that had one bathroom to share. The master bedroom had only a window which was a small and by the ceiling facing out into the hallway (so no external window) which meant it was like sleeping with lights on all night as the hallway light were always on. In this case perhaps a curtain for that window would be good or installing sensor lights in the hallway so the light isn’t on unless someone is there. The rooms were SO warm and when we went to check about the air conditioning they told us it wasn’t working or they didn’t have it. (Not sure which was the correct answer) They couldn’t give us a straight answer. They told us the heating had been on the night before but that they had now switched it off and allowed for “air” instead. So whatever control you have in your room is basically useless. When we asked if they could allow for the air conditioning to be turned on they just told us they would sort it out but nothing got done. We had to sleep with the only external window open during the night so at least our kids could be more comfortable. Other important things to note - we got 2 towels for 4 people. We asked them to bring 2 more which wasn’t done. Only when we saw a cleaner outside in the hallway one evening (3 nights into our stay) did we get 2 more. - there was no cleaning the whole week. We asked for more water, asked if someone would come to at least remove the garbage and they told us they would send someone but never did. - as shown in the photos, one of the single beds was broken underneath. - several sheets/duvet covers were broken, one example shown in the photos. - there was cigarette burns on the double bed headboard despite it being a non-smoking room. A family boutique hotel, quiet in a quiet location adjacent to Nizami Street, bustling with life and lively. Perfect location within walking distance to all the attractions, close to the old city, the promenade, etc. I stayed there for three enjoyable weeks. Amazing staff Turan, Ibrahim and the lovely Rashid, attentive to every request and help with everything needed with patience and kindness. The room is modest but has everything needed for a long and short stay Comfortable bed, hot water and strong current in the shower, electric kettle, refrigerator, TV, air conditioner, shower products. And very clean, with no aftertaste. The breakfast is modest, enough to start the day. The hotel has a good restaurant and excellent black beer. This is the hotel for me also for the next time when I arrive.

At that time, the road was being built, the hotel and Ctrip did not inform in advance, it was very inconvenient to arrive at the hotel. The noise downstairs is also very loud. But the hotel's bed and pillows are very comfortable and the service is good. The restaurant in the hotel is also very good.

Good location! Baku is not big at all, the rooms are clean and have welcome desserts

Good location. Service lacking. Every night they look the (empty) mini bar, and have to call for it to be unlocked. Clean rooms.

It is a most convenient and comfortable hotel in this area. i feel like a home. Excellent service good language ability of reception staff.

My husband and I stayed 6 nights at the Sheraton Baku in Oct 2023. We were happy with the location, near the water and close to the old city. The room was average size, the bed and pillows were comfy, the bathroom had a large shower with rain and hand held shower nozzles, the tv had several international channels in English and other languages. The room faced the waterfront and had a large balcony with table and 2 chairs. All along the waterfront is a promenade and parkland for people to bike, walk, play. This public area extends the length of the downtown area. We had trouble with the A/C in our room, but after attempts over 2 days to fix it, reception moved us to another room. There is a wonderful restaurant where we had dinner a few nights. We tried pizza, soup, spaghetti bolognese and several salads and were very pleased. The staff were attentive. The restaurant has a nice ambience with an outdoor patio. The lounge area has so many fantastic coffee table books. Huge books that weigh a ton on art, culture, history, architecture, etc. The breakfast buffet was outstanding with many delicious dishes: fresh fruits and veggies, breads, cheeses, hot items, and eggs to order. Breakfast staff were attentive and eager to please. Elbaciz the F&B supervisor was always on top of things, making sure we were happy with the food and arranging to get us some coffee or whatever else we needed. The chef Mazahir always made us the perfect soft boiled eggs. The whole breakfast team were great. I would recommend this hotel for comfort and close to the old city.

Overall good, best location. The scenery on the waterfront road is good, the car is preparing for the car at the door, and the traffic is somewhat affected. The only problem with the front desk is that there is no conversion plug to borrow.

There are at least 4 Sapphire Hotels in Baku (Sapphire, Sapphire Inn, Sapphire City, Royal Sapphire), so it can get a little confusing. But the Sapphire Inn, where I stayed, is OK. Admittedly, it looks a lot better online than in reality, but it still has lots of good aspects. The location is excellent, easy walking to Old City, waterfront or center. I got room 314, an enormous, old-style space with rather faded beige carpet and hideous gold wallpaper - but space is good and the bed was really comfortable. My bathroom was in very good shape, clean tiles, large rainshower, good hot water and soft towels. The phone did not work and wifi in the room was weak. Breakfast was rather ”non-European”, with olives, tomatoes and cheese, but wonderful dairy (yoghurt, cream and kaymak to die for !). Some fresh juice and eggs (other than boiled) would be nice. Also, the hotel caters for large tourist groups : when they invaded the breakfast room, it was hard to find a seat and the staff struggled to keep the buffet up-to-date. I found all staff, at reception, room service and restaurant, to be super friendly.
