What a great hotel, full of history, with a not to be missed museum and ancient convent next door. The Parador is a renovation of the sixteenth-century Monastery-Hospital of San Marcos for pilgrims walking the Camino Frances, and is one of the most important monuments of the Spanish Renaissance. Our room was in the renovated part overlooking the Plaza de San Marcos. It had a spectacular view, and was quiet, spacious, charming, and luxurious. The art in the common areas is impressive as are the exposed excavations of the ancient hospital and earlier dwellings. A great place to stay for a last night of comfort if you are planning on starting your Camino in Leon. It is located right on The Way with a monument to the pilgrim right out the front door.

From the moment I walked in the door during my Camino, Carmen at the front desk was brilliant. My room was not ready but she made me feel at home and she has been a great help in providing information about the local area, restaurants, etc. The hotel itself is very nice with spacious rooms and a great bathroom. Nos alojamos por su ubicación (muy céntrico, en una plaza del barrio húmedo llena de bares y restaurantes) y su precio (poco más de 50 euros la noche). Aunque tienen habitaciones compartidas, nosotras éramos tres amigas que nos quedamos en una habitación triple (una cama de matrimonio y una litera individual encima) con baño privado. Todo bastante limpio y moderno.. la cama muy cómoda, la habitación silenciosa… Además había un pequeño desayuno cortesía de la casa de cafe y tostadas…. La única pega que tuvimos es que en el baño salía un olor bastante desagradable en algunas ocasiones…. No duraba demasiado, pero no era nada agradable que oliera mal de repente.. por suerte, no duraba mucho.

Very unimpressed with this AC Marriott property. Arrived on a Friday after a very hard week. Staff has been very hands off. Bathroom is outdated and below par. The worst of the worst was no food service, no room service, and basically no service on the weekends. Their restaurant is closed Fri, Sat, and Sun. Very disappointing after walking all day and expecting to enjoy a nice evening in my room. I’d pass on this property and spend your euros elsewhere. Done with Marriott in Europe after a several bad stays.
