The Royal Savoy undoubtedly occupies the best location for the leisure traveller. Since 2004, when it first opened on the site of the original Savoy Lido, this hotel is popular with all ages, newcomers, and regulars year after year.
Recently refurbished the hotel fails to disappoint

I have an apar**ent for one week in this resort hotel and I was very disappointed to see the outcome of the 2 year closure for refurbishment. Apart from creating a bar in the reception area ( hideously called Thatcher's bar, do they not know that this woman was one of the most decisive politicians the UK has ever had?) there were very few improvements internally. My suite was still the same dreary furniture which belongs to another era. It has been the same for over 25 years and is so out of date and badly worn. There has been no attempt to move into the 21st century and they have even done the little things like provide USB charging sockets ( even budget hotels have these) The staff are very good although some are slightly to subservient for my liking. The outdoor are is extremely good and very well maintained. Would I regard it as a 5* hotel? Definitely not, if it wasn't for the outdoor are I would say a good 3*.

I never tire of staying at the Royal Savoy. The hotel is in a beautiful location and immaculately kept. The staff are nothing short of wonderful, polite, friendly and very knowledgeable about Madeira. The Royal Savoy caters for Gluten Free guests very well indeed, with good gluten free food options and gluten free beer. Little details can make a big difference and the Royal Savoy really does the details very well indeed. All in all excellent.

This hotel has a very high standard of service and great food quality. We felt welcomed by the staff and no enquiry was difficult/ignored. The property could do with a bit of a lick of paint around the pool areas - but that is frankly being a bit "pinnickity". In the wider sense, the climate was beautiful and our two day taxi tour of the isalnd was a revelation. A very clean country with plenty to explore and see, we will come again - both to the Island and to the Royal Savoy

We visit often and this feels like our second home although it is starting to look tired outside the public areas with damp on some of the ceilings and the bathroom walls and floors would benefit from being re-grouted. The bar service and pool side restaurants produce lovely food at reasonable prices but after a week the menu feels slightly less appealing as there really needs to add specials to enhance the offering for those who stay longer, perhaps a pizza or jacket potato oven would be a good offering. Also perhaps a pasta dish option

I knew it was a timeshare/vacation club before we booked with TUI, but that makes for regular and prompt attention from the excellent staff. Our Junior suite - large en-suite with seating area and small well equipped kitchen (including real teapot pot and kettle) was very clean and comfortable, kept that way through the day by the very professional cleaning staff. Evening entertainment was very good, suitable for older travellers, and importantly prices even at the Pool side bars were very reasonable, a change from the usual rip-off hotel prices. Loved being able to dive into the sea from the platforms provided, and the 2 outside salt swimming pools were both large and a decent depth. Will certainly return, as do many others we spoke to. A little gem of a hotel, a short walk to the Port and town of Funchal.

Always enjoy the annual trip to Madeira. The RS location is perfect for a short walk to town and the view of the ocean from the balcony is just right. A restful venue, easy just to remain within the resort but there are also plenty of restaurants, bars and other shops with easy walking distance.
