Auberge de l'Ours

Nicely decorated hotel in lovely chalet style. Nice and cozy rooms. Very quiet place. The best are the staff. Friendly, helpful, fun, top class. The restaurant offers very nice food, good menu. Not too long but good mix between fish and meat. Great place to spend a few days.

We went there for a lunch during one of our hike in the region. We phoned the place to book a table and let them know about our time of arrival. We arrived there and had to wait before being seated. Then we placed the order with the owner (an old lady) then we waited ... after a long time (more than 45 mins) we asked about our meals and we got this answer : "oh, i thought you had already eaten" ... well, not really. We had to wait another 30 mins to be served and go as an excuse that something went wrong in the kitchen (like the owner saying - this isn't me, this is my staff doing wrong -- well, not very nice for the staff). Then, the food was just ... awful. The meat was bizarre (to say the least), and the barbecue wasn't cooked as needed. The prices also changed while we were eating : while we ordered the barbecue was at 22 CHF then, all of a sudden, it was at 25 CHF. The owner apologies for the issue and offered the drinks -- this is a bottle of coke and free tap water ... meaning that her commercial gesture was just insignificant. Re. COVID - no one in the staff was wearing a mask. Maybe because we were outside, but still, not very good in the current context. All-in-all a very bad experience, and a place to avoid : this is a tourist trap with an owner that is not at all empathetic. Maybe we were unlucky but we felt that we were just taken as tourists from whom to take money out.
